psychological trick #26 - To avoid people sitting next to you on public transport pat the seat next to you, make direct eye contact and extend your finger towards them inviting them over. A glaring ballscratch is equally effective.
That wouldn't stop me from sitting with you
Lydia Xavier until you look down and realise that thing draped across the seat isn't a sausage...
thompson223 IT'S A POISONOUS SNAAAAAAKE!!!
thompson223 I can't do a ballscratch. I don't have them
Scratch your garden instead
Number 19 works. I REALLY wanted another puppy but my husband said no. So I told him " then let's have a child". I got my new puppy the next week.
Smart
the puppy is getting bullied
schnauzer mom isn’t that manipulation
@@dRaiLSoH Psychological tricks used against people are manipulation...
The mind, once stretched will never revert to its smaller shape. When you offer a worse option the first option suddenly looks incredibly viable and so much better it becomes irresistable.
> "we don't condone manipulating people to get what you want" - List25
> has used clickbait before
Catalepsy why is it a bad thing to use click bait? Surely they want people to watch there videos?
"If ____ people watch this video, I'll kill you!"
"Oh man! I don't wanna die! *puts clickbait on video*"
their videos not there videos

Another BIG example of a place you should avoid the word "but" at all costs, is when apologizing. 'I am sorry for my part in the fight.' sounds ( and is received ) better then 'I am sorry , but .... ". Many people get defensive ( some even believe the apology is fake ) the moment they hear the word 'but' in an apology.
I learned a trick as a police officer which can REALLY help people who work in phone jobs where people yell at them. When someone is screaming at you for THEIR problem, start LOWERING YOUR VOICE! (She types in shouty caps. LOL) They will soon lower their voices to hear you which will a lot of times, improve their bad behavior.
It's a well known advertising gimmick; if you want someone's attention, whisper.
That's a good one. It's like the " read, relate, and relax" technique, to a degree, but in your case, your actually dictating their behavior, as for RRR, you feel them out, talk to them on their level, and then relax into that role. It's actually the inverse!
@jC Dorrian People also strain to listen if you have a gun in your hand. ☺
Tried number 9. The size up..
Currently in hospital suffering from a stab wound. Won't be trying that in South London again
Yeah that shit doesn't work. In the city you'll get dropped
Started a sales job today. I will be using these powers for good. The good of my bank account.
Antonio Lopez. Well people use them anyway.
Antonio Lopez get 'em, tiger!!!!!!💪
Good...is dependent on who it serves.
Ew sales lol
lol. I agree. right now that seems like all I can get.
I smiled at a baby. It started crying.
Oh man I feel you... I feel like babies see strangers as a threat.. a stranger smiling is uninvited to them so they cry. Who knows.. I just know babies don't cry or smile at me they just stare and stare and glare and it makes me super uncomfortable... •_• but I just put a hoodie on and I'm good now.
Erika Love LOL Babies always stare at me and I just stare back very intensly. Like full-blown psychopath stare and they just stare back. I might smile as well and usually they just go from ._. to O_O. Sometimes they do laught though. \(^_^)/
I think they forgot to mention that the baby needs to be familiar with you for that trick to work. Honestly, I'm not even sure that really works. I smile at my granddaughter when she's crying. Result: she continues to cry.
Lolz...I sometimes look at them and try to scare them when the parents are not looking. The poor thing starts wailing and the parents wonder why their bundle o' joy has started crying suddenly...! The babies can't talk so they can't tell the parents there is a monster behind them ;)
SuperAyaj wow this makes me feel so much better , now I know I'm not the only person who does that. hahaha
Omg that fact that the thumbnail is referencing Bioshock is amazing!
You know it. ~Mike
list25 what up Mike awesome channel friendly greeting from Denmark
DeanmC261993 awesome
"Would you kindly..." clicks on the video, realises that i'm still being manipulated by Atlas almost 10 years later... fuck XD
DeanmC261993 would kindly...OBEY

1. Remember-nicely.
"The size up" may not work for women as well as it does for men. Actually, a woman doing that to a guy could cause MORE trouble, as the guy may see it as flirtatious. (It's commonly believed men can turn anything a woman says into an innuendo. This is no different.)
Ladies, I recommend a slight modification to the size up as Mike tells it: Look the guy in the face ONLY. Throw in a slight frown, or at least a neutral/bored expression, to discourage them from thinking you're interested.
If you're looking at another woman, use your judgment between Mike's version and mine. Some might get catty if you look them up and down. Guys, probably best if you keep your eyes up as well, when facing a woman.
I have used number 20 so many times when my children were little. I always offered 2 choices that essentially got the same task completed. They felt like they had some control over their own world and I was able to get them to put their toys away, bathe, go inside, put on shoes etc.
Worked every time!
so mexico do you want to pay for the wall or give money for the wall'
watermelons lol
watermelons Naw, your wall your bill bro.
watermelons the money was not sent

watermelons lolll
A man chooses, a slave obeys.
nicely
Scott Smith calm the fuck down
Do you even know where "Would you kindly" and "A man chooses. A slave obeys" comes from?
Right on Scott
Scott Smith KILL.
i loooooved that game.
A variation of the number 9 is what I like to call "the greeting". When I sense someone is about to catcall me, I look at the person straight in the eye and say a polite but firm "Good day, sir" and that is all it takes for the person to look at me all surprised and immediately change whatever they were gonna say to "Good day, ma'am" :) It works pretty much every time
Good pieces of advice, I just remembered someone who actually applied all these tricks at work... although he managed to get the job done, everyone hated him. The point is, you might persuade someone to do something for you using your marketing techniques, but if you do it on a regular basis, everyone notices and everyone hates you... DO NOT OVERDO IT!
#15: The word is "rapport" not repertoire.
Warren Cotton
Yes, that was a deplorable misuse of the English language.
So the second word is not in your repertoire?
noddy you do know how to look up words though, right?
they're both french words anyway
Darryl Banks p
Deplorable. That is what Hillary Clinton called us all.
People underestimate the power of clothing on the human psychie. Its so important! Ive honestly wanted to be one of those men you see wearing a suit everywhere. It breeds confidence and deters, depression and anxiety. Im so glad you bought this psychological concept to a big audience List 25. Thank you
Not being extreme in certain situations and considering both sides, multiple options and approaches to problem, and trying to look at an outside perspective. Makes you look very reasonable and people trust you with problems
Everybody calls me highly confident and I am not I I'm a slug a nothing. But as my therapist used to say fake it till you make it if you fake a behavior long enough or act a certain way long enough and then becomes part of Who You Are.
Smiling at a baby does work...I was making a little one happy at home...but when the police and the parents show up.... well that just upsets them
so your saying that trump used one of thoes tricks?
rodger so
Why should it be a surprise?
Trumpeta
i've gotta say, trump definetely sounded confident whenever i saw him
You don't mean Tronald Hump?
he uses ALL of them....and more.....
Rule number 0: Do not manipulate anyone.
I worked in Sales as an insurance agent and I quit after realizing manipulating their reactions is just wrong. Such as getting them to answer yes to all my questions eventually leading to "So would you like this or that policy?" then they have only two option which they select from.
I learned quite a lot of manipulation techniques on this list from that job then I got more aware of other people trying to use these techniques on me including my manager to make me spend more time selling policies while I had to study for my degree.
I am currently working as a telephone surveyor since recently and I have to be sly sometimes not to give them the time it takes to complete the survey or lying about the time to make them do it knowing fully well how long it takes. Also, I have to use techniques like keeping them engaged with the sequence of relative subjects during the pitch so they don't hang up. I am about to quit this too coz it makes me hate my life when I manipulate others or hurt others or lie to others or be a sly fox. I wanna be good and loving and honest but my surroundings only push me towards the dark paths.
I thought surveying people is not as bad because it is for research and as soon as I found out that I have to lie and be sly or manipulate the surveyee's response, I just felt bad and this is like poison to me. The more I do it, the more I hate my life.
I know some people would call my behavior naive but I want to earn my money with honest hard work and without lying or manipulating. If being smart means manipulating others then I would rather stay dumb forever. I regret working for a company that taught me how to manipulate and use it on people but for the future note, I will never work for this kind of company again.
Shan Shin good for you
Good
You are an honest person , plan to be poor while enjoying your self esteem and dignity, the world needs more people like you , that's why pay scales are in decline and Walmart is hiring , they got you right where they want you
just by watching this Video .. i feel so much Better now ... thanks List25
Endy Neko ikr!
I noticed the Bioshock "Would You Kindly" reference in the picture, you sneaky devil you
Lol, I do most of these all the time, except for eye contact, don't know why, but it is super uncomfortable to do it
I use to not like eye contact in early high school. then it changed when I was called out on it. lol now it doesn't bother me.
Same
6:35 Yeah I can remember being a kid and accidentally annoying my older relatives by using their name in a conversation too many times in a row.
Great list, aware and already used 15 of these psychological tips in the past. Not diabolical manipulations of course - I aspire daily a saintly living😇. I have one tip to consider - when asked an question that you don't want to answer for it might be bothersome or burdensome to you just ask another question for your answer this is for a social forum of course - this shift the attention from you.
Ohh you clever List 25 people. I love that little real world reference there ^-^
No Jedi mind tricks?
*Waves hand slightly* Those aren't the tricks you're looking for. ~Mike
list25 Haha 😁
LOL
A C o m p l e X M a N these are not the droids you’re looking for
I wish people would learn the difference, how to use, 'your' and 'you're.' I know, I know, but damn, the caliber of sentence structure and verb context has seriously gotten out of control. < rant
Johnfly8 totally agree with your comment
2nd class citizens (you must be one of the elite unwashed masses). says the black girl with Lil Stewie as her profile picture. you must have not watched all the episodes. Ignorant to just assume he is American. I agree with him, so I guess I am American as well.
2nd classCitizen great edit!! You prob watch a lot of illuminating videos. I am being ignorant of course cause I have no idea.
The dif' came to me so automatically in grade school. Now, as I type, I have to pause and think!??? There? Their, they're?
You're awesome
You tricked me into watching this for 8 minutes. Well played. :-D
The wall?!?!? LMAO!! Talk about sandwiching an idea, or an argument.
it's not "illusion of choice" (that's a whole different deal: "you do this or do nothing." "you get this or get nothing."), it's "perception of choice." this is often used to get kids to do their chores or other tasks they tend to try to avoid and fail to do. it goes like this: "Do you want to do your homework now or half an hour from now?" "Your room needs to be picked up. Do you want to pick it up now, or 15 minutes from now?" either way, the chore gets done, but the kid thinks they have some control/choice in the matter, which reduces resistance and can increase the likelihood that the authority figure gets cooperation from the kid.
"Repertoire" = a stock of plays, dances, or pieces that a company or a performer knows or is prepared to perform.
"Rapport" = a close and harmonious relationship in which the people or groups concerned understand each other's feelings or ideas and communicate well.
These are better than I had expected! Thank you!
4:20 I can't tell if that thing is lying on the floor or on the ceiling
Just woke up !
Gonna try some of these :)
That silence trick works extremely well.
Wonderfully done and informative. Thank you!
I love that the showed the flag of Switzerland for neutrality haha
I so need this.. A friend I had was talking about me infront of me he's like Dude (My name) is and then he's like Wait why am I talking about you infront of you? I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS GONNA SAY BOUT MEH
Maybe he was just pulling a red herring (another psychological trick) and wasn't really going to say anything about you.
Lydia Xavier It still remains a mystery
+Lydia Xavier trueee
I always do #3 because I know that if I were telling someone something and they told me that they know or heard it before, it would make me not want to talk to them about things because they already know. Or even if they're telling me something I already know I pretend like I'm actually interested in what they're saying, plus I just enjoy listening to people stories even if I've heard them before.
Thank you... Another great video...
Dale Carnegie
never been so early cool video guys keep it up
Thank you - Juan
list25 I see what you did there "list 25"
I talk my way out of the trouble that I get myself into. I'm thankful for that skill.
great video guys! much appreciated
You don't establish repertoar, but rapport with someone.
A fun list :-)
repertoire...
Nivesh Proag ...gesundheit
I use #19 all the time! Also, did anyone catch the Bioshock reference? "Would you kindly... Would you kindly? Would you kindly?!?!"
I used to work on a job with a team, there were several teams within the company and one of our guys sucked at his job, so when we found out he put in a bid to go to another team, we told everyone how good he was and how we couldn't do without him so that the team he put a bid to join would take him and it worked.
This was brilliant and really really helpful.
48 laws of power
I saw that video. It's pretty evil
Moonlight deserved to win.
Thank you so much for putting them in the description! I can screenshot it and i will remember!
This is a very good list. I’m gonna have to listen to it again.😊
great video...
I agree
Thank you. I just don't get trick #1.. Should we or should we not? 😓😕
Monalisa 2016 - Yes. Giving gifts helps make a connection between two people stronger and more trustful.
I have used almost every one of these tricks or observed them being used on me and can tell from my personal experience that they definitely work!!
#9 is a good way to get in a fight: sizing up somebody. depending if you win will be whether or not you're still confident.
favors are like a debt, debts are a bad thing.
user 007 actually it's a common psychological trick. for some reason if you can get someone to do you a favor, they end up liking YOU better. still don't understand how it works but I use it all the time.
I think they get it in their heads that if you ask for a favor, then you need them. Most people want to feel needed.
jakob dodd what I mean is that if you ask for a favor then, you will be in debt. just like borrowing money. that person will certainly ask you for a favor in the future and, that favor, you may not want to do it but you will have to since they did a favor to you in the past. it is just like owing money
^^^ That too.
Why isn't Mike on screen as much?
I always use "however" instead of "but" for negotiating. It appears less confrontational. And use it in a reversal context. For example: Don't say "you showed up late today, but you did a great job."
Instead say "You did an great job, however you didn't show up on time."
You'd be amazed how this subtlety works.
#1 Gifts: The final prophet Muhammad who most people know nothing about said: "Gift eachother and you will love eachother" and he also said: "Gifts rid the heart from anonimosity" and "Smiling at at the face of your brother is counted as charity" and one of my favourites" You will not enter the Garden until you believe; and you will not believe until you love eachother; Shouldn't I guide you into something that if you do you will love eachother? Spread greetings, (Salamu Alaikum! - peace be onto you!)".
Im stubborn so a lot of these will not work on me. My "something is sketchy here" radar will sense it.
Controlling the perception of others is the key to maipulation
LOLOLOLOL😂😂😂😂 the wall example is great !!!
I love this list,thanks
trump - do you want to build the wall or pay for the wall?
*Are you paying for the wall or are you paying for us to deport each person that enters our country illegally?
Do you want to pay an ever increasing price to both build and constantly maintain a wall that will be ineffective or do you want to spend those billions of dollars on improving education, healthcare, and the economy?
None of these work if a person hates you or knows you personaly
That's why it says how to get someones trust so they wont hate you anymore
It depends on the setting. If your working in a fast food joint, or just a cashier somewhere that they frequent, you can deploy one of these tactics. If you see them in the neighborhood then I agree with you.
It would, you just gotta switch up
I like videos like this! Interesting and thought provoking.👍
I'm a living testament to #22. 1st year uni bio lab, I lead my entire confused bench to believe i knew everything that needed to be done (when in fact i didnt) and they all took my lead to a dead end failure of lab work. We did an in class report together worth 10 marks and we got 0/10.
Cap this book "How to win friends and influence people" thank me later
Some other tips: Shake hands in 90 degree angle, that will make people feel like an equal, NEVER pull someone unless you're close friends, that is just plain weird, and if someone doesn't respect that 90 degree, slightly put your other hand over and naturally make it right, DO NOT force it, it has to be NATURAL! Also, don't interfere with others' problems unless someone is getting hurt, leave them to argue between them or you'll only make things worse, trust me, even if you're right or think you are, you are the one getting framed in the end! Stand at attention soldier! Of course, not that high though, it also needs to be as natural as possible, people do appreciate when you look them in the eyes and have a good posture, specially in formal meetings or reunions! Also, please people, use your common sense, never pull out your smartphone in those two scenarios, that's disrespectful, leave it on silent, and if you forget and get a call, just turn it off, don't answer and tell that "you're calling later", that's also disrespectful ;)
I like this, because I don't trust people anymore,
so I love knowing how people are going to try to minipulated me into trusting them.
Thank you Mike, good list😊
@ 5:30, point #8: "For example, if you want to build a wall, don't argue about whether or not the wall will be built. Immediately skip to who will be PAYING for the wall."
Does this remind you of anyone or anything at all?
Who clicked this cause the bioshock reference 😂
Wall...hahahahahaha the way you sneaked that in lol
#8 was so subtle. So damn subtle. I loved that.
read the art of war then watch this
fucking Spoilers for Bioshock 1 in the thumbnail
Not if you don't know... ~Mike
list25 hey when is adam coming back ?
DrRESHES how is that even a spoiler?
Andrea Kae that's because you dont know.
I have a friend, very good business man, successful company. I did some work for him and I remember our first day when I was giving him my sales pitch. Started off well and then he stopped talking and just watched me. Thinking I'd lost him I kept blundering on, digging a bigger hole for myself. I'd lost the high ground in that negotiation and all he did was stop talking. I always remember it when negotiating a deal.
I liked this video. Quick, concise, and very informative!
lam
You are who?
rodger so hi
Lydia Xavier i said LAM
Velvety soft hands around your throat hi
rodger so know about Thelema? Or at least Crowley?
When another female looks me up and down ... I call that jealousy 💁🏽
not always! women are automatically critical of other females. you might want to make sure they are not look at you like a fool. check yourself! don't assume they are haters just because you walked out of the house with a clown outfit on. can't tell you how many time I have wondered if a certain person actually looked in the mirror before they left their house. i am more in amazement that jealousy!
Vanity... is absolutely disgusting
Alexandra, from your little comment, I'm going to presume you have a rotten personality and thus you're actually very unattractive. Or to put it another way, a massive bitch. Ha 👍🏼
Lol yes it means they feel threatened
All very good advice, whether at work or not.
Great list.
Donald Trump somehow slipped into this video. I could do without the political rhetoric List25, thank you very much
the personal is political and the political is very personal...and he owns that. good for him..
If you don't like it stop watching. Simple.
I caught the anti trump propaganda, for a video on how to manipulate people you guys aren't very sly.
zinksflame 8
zinksflame I don't think they were trying to be slick.
hell, i think the idiot watched this. he just needs to work on his body language and drop the crossing of his arms all the time.
Awe. #8. True. #trumprocks
"would you kindly".... nice touch
3:15 hate that one. I’ve noticed when people do that and it’s annoying and kinda sad when someone pretends to be someone else.
Hey I know that referance it's from Bioshock! "Neutrality" shows Swiss flag...AND THAT TRUMP JOKE!!!!!!
Yo' Mamma ik i am a joke
HE DID NOT JUST MAKE A TRUMP JOKE * explodes *
Excellent 👍👍👍
Thank you!

I don't care who pays for the wall just build it
