    As a classical singer this exercices IS a must have to practice everytime. Because as you said it's the balance of the opening of the throath then adding the pharyngeal resonances

      Exactly. It’s a great way to also achieve the more forward tone for other styles of singing, like pop, R&B, etc.

    Mostly, Filipinos use this voice technique because we have NG in our Alphabet.

    Bro, thanks for this marvelous video. This is the most underrated video on this technique on RUclips. By following you instruction, it's so easy to make such sound.

    I kept getting that pinched muffled sound at the higher notes doing ng. I had no idea it was my tongue doing that. Doing that Ng Uh really helps. Thanks for that.

    We have NG in our Thai alphabet but I have never thought that is needed for singing exercise !! And I wish you had put some exercises in this video. Thank you very much. You have opened my mind. I am the same as Manuel V. ;-)

      Thanks for commenting, Arkom, glad to be of help. NG can be powerful but also very easy to push past the level of comfort, so be careful :) Cheers!

    Hello George, I get the impression that when you sing, you use a lot of placement and resonance in the soft palate, which is achieved with the NG exercise? and another question: Do you breathe through the mouth using the yawn to have the soft palate lifted? Thank you very much for your cover videos and tips, they are great

    Should I start from the back of my throat behind soft palate to the nasal hole .. or just sing from above the soft palate thru the nose area?

    Hi! I didn't watch this video before, but I did this exercise from another vocal couch and it hurt me and it still does. How can fix it? I tried vocal rest for a month, but it still hurts when I hit a certain note.

      Hey man, did you try the exercise the way I demonstrated it in this video? It's important to go for it with a clean slate and follow my lead. Most pharyngeal sound issues come from tightening the throat while shooting higher for resonance.

    Is this the same sir with forward placement?

    The thing holding me back with this exercise is that I get a noisy fry sound after the bridge 90% of the time... 10% of the time I can do it right... How can I improve on this fry that keeps coming in?

    • @fr3ak1shh
      @fr3ak1shh 5 лет назад +1

      Hey man, this also happens to me a lot. I think we're over-compressing. Really work on building pharyngeal resonance using the "ng" sound. As it strengthens, a cleaner mixed resonance will shine through :)

    Cool Video strange thing is if I open my mouth to wide my voice start cracking more often. Ilf dont Open my mouth that much I can get much higher and without and it feels less strained

    • @koka7366
      @koka7366 6 лет назад +1

      *ican get much higher and it feels less strained sry for grammer

    • @modernsingingmethod
      @modernsingingmethod  6 лет назад +3

      Indeed, the less you mess with your mouth the more natural things happen. There is a natural opening of the mouth the higher you go, as long as it stays intuitive and you don't open it in all weird ways your voice will keep going ;)

    Hey when I do this exercise, I don’t feel much strain but my voice becomes distorted around the first passagio. Are my vocal cords just not that developed yet? Thanks in advance

    • @modernsingingmethod
      @modernsingingmethod  6 лет назад +1

      Hey! NG exercise can be very tricky in the beginning as it is so easy to over-compess your sound.
      To ease that compression off a little, try adding more release while doing the NG even if it sounds a little breathier.
      In time add more and more cord closure, until you feel the full voice sound balanced. Hope this helps!

    Many vocal teachers tell us to keep the sounds in the mask at all time. From what you're saying, that's not true!

  • @diminishedthicc

    is it okay that my voice goes into head voice early, is there such a thing as being to relaxed

    • @modernsingingmethod
      @modernsingingmethod  6 лет назад +1

      Well depending on the tone you're after, yes there could be "too" relaxed. However, "goes to head voice" mentality is the issue here. Try not to separate the voice in parts, there's only little closure and a lot of closure and the effect that these 2 give out.
      Thanks for your comment :)
