- Ford Escape has a record of a bad ignition , when it gets worn it wont turn over unless you push it in (towards the drivers door ) , the reason behind this is the rod gets worn ,and the dealer charges you $1500.00 to replace it ! Their is a easer less expensive way to fix this problem !

I used two part J B Weld epoxy that had a 6 minute working life yet a 4 to 6 hr. before being fully cured.
I must add after watching several other videos with a 1/8" rotary file to cut back the stop you hit while starting. Yes a big PITA to remove the crimped stainless cap then reassemble, recrimping making sure the cap is tight and solid again.
Videos leaving rotary file chips inside against the tumbler assembly was nasty. Clean then lube with thin bicycle wheel bearing grease made by ParkTool----PPL-1 Polylube 1000 Polyurea Grease. Good bicycle shops carry it.
I had to ask, why not also fill in the hollow center section and all across the top adding support also strength to the extended epoxy buildup yet still able to assemble as per Felix's instructions allowing just enough tumbler assembly movement in and out, something like 0.006" to 0.008" to not be wasting key rotation action instead being applied towards that little pin?
Felix nailed it vs opening up the crimped cover also a PITA time wasted.
By this man Felix an expensive bottle of wine for his dinner I say. Thank You Felix, your the man. You can't fix stupid as well greed and self serving making millions. Term limits along with same medical coverage as we the public must pay. Anything involving the gov. is dirty and expensive. ......~~=o&o>.......

I used the epoxy on the flat end of the “letter” D on the tap. Once I put the key back in it worked.

Dude - you are totally wrong! That little switch is only to tell u the key is in the ignition - that's it! In order to really fix the starting problem you have to grind a little out of the cylinder. The switch has NOTHING to do with the starting. Trust me - I worked for Ford for 18yrs. I know.
