This was bad matchup for Chavez. Hand speed and footwork will win almost every time if the fighter has skill. Chavez could not set his feet and got hit more often. Fighters like Chavez, Hopkins, and Duran can fight forever at a high level. But they can't beat fast fighters with equal Skill, Speed and footwork. Duran lost to Benitez and a wiser Leonard. Haggler lost to unretired Leonard. Hopkins lost to Roy in his prime. James Toney lost to him as well. Duran, Hopkins, Chavez and Toney fought well very late into their careers. Haggler could have as well. The only think that can neutralize foot work and hand speed is reach and hand speed. This is why I believe Ali was the greatest in his prime, especially before the war. He had footwork, hand speed, reach and decent power for someone who fought off of his back foot.

Keep moving and circling, don’t let your back touch the ropes, keep throwing the jab keep disrupting their offense, don’t let them build up momentum, throw some shots to the body, a lot of pressure fighters aren’t use to being attacked low since they’re the ones usually applying the pressure, test them to see if they can adapt, and don’t get too greedy you could be playing right into their hands
