@@FULLPELTAdventures hi Pete I did I have seen a few of your clips and seen you on Mark’s as well looking at buying a dr in the not to distant future any advice I have owned a lot of different bikes over the years but not a dr 650
@@simonmatthews6980 Hi Simon, try and get a test ride on the DR650, this will help you decide. Think about the type of riding you want to do with the bike. I really should do a video on this subject.
Great video! We don't bother buying the cush drive rubbers anymore because they only last 2-4k kms anyways. When they get too loose I just cut pieces out of an inner tube and insert them between the cush drives and replace them everytime I take the rear wheel off for service. Hope yours last as they are not cheap to replace. Good luck & *T4S*
Thanks Bill, It's only that I'm preparing the Bike to go with Chappy to the Simpson, otherwise I would have run a few more Km's on those sprockets. And Yes, Hal is a wealth of knowledge, The Motorcycle Wiki-pedia. It was so good to Video him in action, and I really appreciate him helping me.
@@MVDBR As Hal said, we had a laugh when the torque wrench came out and discussed the precision that the MVDBR torque wrench delivers. Anyway I'm off to a party now, that's where us Torque Guys do our best work. LOL.
A great watch Pete! Hal's knowledge and support was very helpful. Nicely explained. Interesting re the Cushion Rubbers. 🤔 Smile Boris lookin' great with your new teeth! 👍🤣
Shout out Pete, a great informative vid, and its a great learning tool. Keep safe...don't worry I washed my hands before typing...LOL...David Tiger 900GT Adelaide
That was a relaxing watch Pete & well explained from Hal. The Gold Chain really looks the part. That's 1 of the next jobs I'll be doing on my '95 Xtz750 Super Tenere. Cheers mate. 😉🏴👍
Mate good to see you back on the boobtube again . Boris is turning into a weapon , good looking bike . I said it before , everyone needs a friend like Hal . 👍
Hi Pete and Hal, nice filming Pete, must admit I have been known to cut an inner tube up and put bits of it in the crush drive to take up the slack, probably not the right thing to do as they are quite cheap.
Nice video, that's my next project, I feel confident to do that after watching this! I upgraded my exhaust after watching your video with Mark. Think I'm going to have to stop watching your videos as it's costing me too much money!!
Hi Tom, Really good to hear that the video was helpful to you, That's why we did it. Hal will be pleased. Thanks for your comment, and yes youtube is hard on the pocket at times. LOL
I ran 21k out of my original chain an sprockets from new, the chain was shagged but the sprockets were surprisingly very good in tooth wear when matched to the new set, 80% commute 20% dirt. I went 14t front 41 rear but it took the rpm from 5200 to 5600 at 100klm and up the Hume it developed the annoying single cylinder slight vibration at 110 to 120 so I switched back to the original 15/41 and has been great for what I ride especially long distance. Nice vid Pete keen on seeing the difference of the hub rubbers, mine were the same as yours for wear. Take care Mark.
Do you still run the 15/41? Aside from first being stupid fast in the bush, I found stock gearing too tall for the speed limits here in aus, ill find myself scooting along at 100 in 4th, and at 60 second is too short and 3rd is too tall. I've got a 15/44 cogset waiting for the stock chain and sprockets to wear out. Thats similar gearing to a 14/41, so we'll see how that goes
Hi John, I hope to do a review on the Screaming Demon, I love it, The best mod you can do to the DR650, It makes a huge difference to the power of the PIG. I am running the street baffle at the moment, and the engine seems a lot happier, Slightly less power than RACE baffle, but without the popping. So for general use I think Street , and for riding in the bush with your mates, Go the RACE baffle and BRAAAAAP.
@@FULLPELTAdventures Seriously? That must be a huge difference if it is that noticeable. Thanks for the informed reply and taking the time. Cheers mate.
@@johnrogers5825 I am not an expert, Comparing it to the Stock Muffler, in my opinion, its a big difference. I am really happy with it. I think the Staintune, Barrett, or any other Brand name muffler will do the same thing, I just ended up with the Demon. Hope that helps.
Thanks Peter, mate the Screaming Demon is the Ducks Nuts, It has transformed the bike, I still need to do more riding on the DR to test it, The street baffle seems to be a happy place for the engine, But the Race baffle is the happy place for everything else LOL.
Nice clear video. If you added a couple of extra links, your final chain adjustment would have been towards the middle of the snail adjusters. This means that 1) you could run a larger rear sprocket if needed and 2) the geometry is restored as the axle is placed in the middle of the swing arm. You should now recheck your sag as the leverage on the swing arm is now been changed.
