G. Ma he’s not always the same. I love his solo work. He was influenced by Sam Cooke’s melismatic vocal style but his range is totally different. Steve Perry is F#2-A5 and Sam Cooke is A2-C#5. I can totally tell when Steve is singing. I love all 3 of them but Steve is my absolute favorite. I was totally blown away by his voice in “Mother Father” and when his voice went to whistle register during Neal Schon’s guitar solo during “Wheel in the Sky” and he did it live which most can’t do.

'Home at Last' is not a Steve Perry 2005/ 2006 demo as many seem to think. It is, in fact, a 1993 demo, considered for FTLOSM but never used (a number of 1993/ 1994 demos and completed sessions exist, but they have never, officially, surfaced). This particular number is one of two songs that came from writing sessions with renowned rock guitarist Dick Wagner -- the other song, 'Touch Tonight,' has never surfaced in any shape of form as far as I am aware. A few years ago Dick Wagner released a rarities and demos compilation entitled Home At Last, but the title track was a re-recorded version, with a different singer. The difference between the two versions is quite noticeable, especially in 'depth' of vocal. He has a big heart you can hear it when he sings. His vocal range is the best I ever heard.
