Guide still good, for anybody in the future; If you don't have any shaders you need to go into the Online Updater section of Retroarch and update shaders (and everything else)
How do I get rid of the annoying black borders though? I have a patch for widescreen Super Mario 64 and the black borders keep making it unplayable if there is a way to disable them that would be great thanks Edit: I found the solution go to Settings, Video, Scaling, Then change Aspect Ratio from 4:3 to 16:10 and it should fix everything
So I tried this and after saving it I now have to change the scaling for every other game that does not use a widescreen patch. Is there a way to save the video scaling to a game profile? Overriding the specific game’s settings do not work
Is the jigsaw transition in Banjo-Kazooie able to be fixed on the steam deck? It's supposed to work with the "copy color buffer to rdram" set to "sync" in the GLideN64 plugin settings. Please could you test this for me?
I use a ps4 controller is it hard to configure the buttons? I was thinking of just buying a usb n64 controller but I wanted to ask if it was possible to
Does this still work? I’ve just installed emudeck and use this emulator for n64 Roms but I’m finding some fit the screen and some don’t? Is there a way to add our own emulators to emudeck instead? Like can I use project64 instead it seems so much more easier to use then this one

Thanks dude, this helps a lot
i try to go to shader but there's no shaders at all
Same here
Just set both the internal and external resolution to 720p on Steam Deck and edit the scaling mode.

Followed all your steps but it’s not working for me. Put the file in the right location and saved as a .cfg but it still doesn’t work.
Thank you :)
My audio isn’t working on retroarch
How can I change the core for N64 games?
I use a ps4 controller is it hard to configure the buttons? I was thinking of just buying a usb n64 controller but I wanted to ask if it was possible to
Tutorial starts at 0:46
Also, some might want to skip to 4:00 and come back to 0:46 for the hidden .config file in the gui
@@EZ69420 it’s not hidden, it’s missing and has to be added

Shader #0 is N/A
Update shader presets
@@Icymintfresh how do you do that?
This basically overrides the core and destroys game resolution…not a good idea
