I've lived in NZ for 5 years and I love it! I love how excited you are about the place it makes me so happy to hear and see how much you love it (because even though I'm not a kiwi it is my adopted country) and it makes me feel proud to live here!

next time if you're in the area just forget about all the attractions on the milford road and go straight to milford sound for the cruise generally morning one is the best. then on your way back you can stop at all the scenic spots and take in the views etc that's what we always do and it works out pretty great

One thing RUclips that will never be able to do is reproduce the smells that you experience on such a journey as yours. I'm sure now whenever you smell rain and damp forests you'll think back to these times. Smells are so evocative.

It's INSANE. It was the #1 place I wanted to visit after we missed Kenai Fjords when we were in Alaska a few years back. Fjords are amazing. It's the coolest landscape!

Of course it's cold down there your in between 14 fjords that span 215km down the coastline. But that place is sooo beautiful. At the moment I'm making a brochure about Fiordland. There are so many beautiful places in new zealand that you definitely need to visit

We hadn't considered doing that walk when we head back to New Zealand in January, however, it is now definitely on our 'To Do List'. Thanks for another great vid guys.

Homer tunnel is pretty famous here - you know it was hewn by hand? It was started during the depression in the 1930s by just 5 guys with picks and wheelbarrows! Also, I hope you got to meet a Kea during your time in that area (I think saw one in the background when you were in the Chasm carpark @ 6.02) - they are so cute and cheeky!

Wow! That's even more incredible now, I should have Googled it while we were there -- but thanks for letting me know the name of it.

My father told me a story about my grandfather and great grandfather walking through the tunnel when it had just broken through. They were fishing in the Hollyford area and decided to drive through to the new tunnel to have a look.

You two are fine ambassadors for New Zealand. So excited about everything except sandflys, which by the way they bite me and the reaction is gone in 10 - 15 minutes and no itch. I tell visitors [ mostly US] to wear heavy socks, long sleaves, and pants. A little spray helps too. Do they listen? Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Great enthusiasm!

Isn't it beautiful?! Even though you only have a month left , don't worry about not seeing it all, coz most of NZ is what you've already seen. The north island is similar, and sadly a lot faster moving (on the roads and towns and cities) . So don't feel like you'll be missing out on new sights. However I know how you feel about wanting to see everything!!! Ty again for showcasing our beautiful country!!

Ataahua (Maori word) - means Beautiful!!! Now I remember why I don't travel the scenic routes in NZ, cos of all the mini "walks" (too much exercise)....hahaha. Safe travels. Peace
