Wow four days without rain. That must be a world record for Milford Sound. Some people say it's best viewed when it's raining and the heavier the rain the better it is. I guess that you can feel the power of water when it's pouring down the cliff faces and the rivers have been turned on to full power. Bro I'm in love with Fiordland. I watch everything I can find on this region and your film is one of the better ones I've seen. Congratulations. Is Carrie going to do a video where she talks about her experiences. Her feelings and thoughts as you guys travelled along the track. It's jaw dropping and holds you in awe every where you look and the view changes around corner. I would imagine that coming from a virtual dessert in California to this place that is virtually untouched by man, a region that is full of life and still evolving from a jurassic era with the most amazing views that opens your mind and pulls you in to the realisation of nature and what the planet is supposed to be like, would be mind blowing to the power of 10, as it's mind blowing to us who have grown up in NZ. It's on my list to visit in the rain when coincidence allows when I'm down that way. I wanna feel the power of the water which has built this beautiful region. And it's so good for the soul. Congratulations bro a film well made and an experience you'll never forget. Arohanui
@@johnpaki1534lol 😂 my favourite thing about Whakatane is Fishing! 🎣 And Friends 😊 🌿 🙆🏻♀️ ❤ And just over the hill to Ohope and Ohiwa Beaches. 🌊 🏖️ Tramping in the bush and beside rivers and waterfalls is the most amazing thing for those of us who are avid trampers. 😊
I did the Milford Track 20 years ago this month. I enjoyed watching you two and listening to your observations. I too did the public huts and took the slight detour to the falls. I'm 80 years old now and have only in the last two years (due to back and Achilles tendon problems) stopped hiking. When we went over McKinnon (formally known as Mackinnon) Pass we (the whole lot of us from Dumpling hut) had to be guided over it by one of the New Zealand park service employees because a weather system was moving in. We were in white out conditions all the way to the top and spent less than an hour in the shelter by which time the weather (blinding snow storm) had vanished. When I was waiting for the boat at Sandfly Point I had to wait in the small shelter ... sandflies were really biting! It was a glorious 4 days! Thanks for bringing back the memories.
The McKinnon pass can be so intense! I went in 2019 and we were in a whiteout and had to seek shelter up in Pass Hut for a bit. And yes to the sandflies. They are intense! But was it worth all of the discomfort!
My mother walked the Milford Track in her 60's. I smiled all the way through this film remembering her love of nature, her courage and determination. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful adventure ❤
Thank you so much for taking us along with you. My husband and I loved it. Our tramping days are over so it was wonderful to experience vicariously what we can longer do ourselves. We are so blessed to live in this marvellous country and we must never forget it!
As a born and raised kiwi, I haven’t hiked the Milford Track, but after flight cancellations in July, our family did jump in my husband’s Ford Ranger and drive there from the Bay of Plenty. 6.5 hrs to Wellington, Picton ferry, then 10 hrs to Queenstown. So much fun in the South Island, so utterly beautiful.
Spellbound by the Nostalgia of this track. it bought an unusual quietness along with feeling of wonder. Absolutely incredible, I have never seen such thing before. especially overwhelming when at peak , clouds disappeared, . An unexpected change, it was very moving moment for me. I have no words to speak, after watching this...Masterpiece
'I visited the South Island in 1983,it was winter and I was on a tour so we crossed over into Milford sound by bus but I was amazed by the views I heard about the track and wanted to go back one day but on that same trip I hurt my foot and the injury eventually led to an amputation, then I was diagnosed with MS so my chance of doing this track is gone but I thank you so much for showing to me and you beautiful description- it has meant a lot to me
At 75 even though I have always wanted to do this walk I dont think I would make it now! I have done many beautiful walks in the UK, Spain and Greece and your video of this walk, which may I say transported me for 30 minutes into another place, peaceful, birdsong and epic waterfalls was so wonderful- thank you. ❤🌻❤
I walked it at 70. I have no health issues and still good legs. Walking with the private huts has lots of support. The main unpredictable is the weather. This video gives a great understanding of the walk.
Beautiful film from Milford track.I walked part of the Routeburn, another Great walk of the Fjordland region, with my dad coming to see me from France. It was rainy but the walk I shared with my dad was magical.I won’t forget that day.I moved to New Zealand for now 6 years with my partner and we became residents few months ago of our paradise on earth, Aotearoa New Zealand. Thanks for sharing
I remember as a kid the first time we drove in to Milford Sound as we came out of the Homer tunnel The feeling I had just gone back in time and Dinosaurs were going to come out of the primeval mist and still felling the same as an adult.
Thanks so much for your lovely videos!! I came to New Zealand in 2000 and 2004... Did the Southern Highlights trip.. Happy Memories from me in England!!! ♥️🇳🇿♥️
That was a bellbird you heard on day two. You also captured a beautiful south island robin with black and grey plumage and the parrot was a kaka. Beautiful video, your narration is superb and the visual storytelling amazing ❤
I did this walk and the Routeburn track back to back with my wife. We didn’t have a child back then but today we have a beautiful daughter now 17. I want to go back and share that experience with her. Thanks for posting.
WOW!! You are magic Alex. That was absolutely wonderful. Watching the trek is great, but having your narration adds another very emotional layer of experience. There were moments of tears, of joy, and of pure appreciation for you, Carrie and nature all coming together to create this beautiful experience for us to accompany you and have the experience the best way we can. You need to work with Lonely Planet or something like that. What a great job, perfectly created. Thank you, thank you 🤗, I can say from a viewers seat, all the pain you and Carrie went through was 100% worth it .... Just magic✨✨
Well guys I've been waiting for this and you didn't disappoint. I had to cancel my trip last month but heading there in Dec. I've been waiting over 20 years to do this hike. Was reluctant to watch in some ways because of spoilers but so glad I watched. Tears running down my face. I didn't realise how important this particular trip is for me following in my late father's footsteps. I gave the guided trip to my Dad for his 59th birthday. C-19 fate now has me on the trail exactly on my 59th birthday... and 4 years to the day of his passing. Thank you both for giving me the courage to push on as this is not going to be easy... but so worth it. Just gorgeous cinematography. Thank you again for sharing 💚

Thank you for showing our fantastic back yard, your recording and narration “on point” you are so right, getting back to nature lifts the soul in ways nothing else can.
People wonder what draws one to tramping ... To be honest, does anyone really enjoys the hard slog? it's the end of the day when you think of what you pulled yourself through which is what makes tramping, and pushes you though. And God, is it good for the soul!! I bet you both feel invincible!! I've never done the Milford, but we're very lucky to have a backyard like ours. Aroha from Titahi Bay.
Congratulations Alex!! That was an amazing piece of filmmaking. Well worth waiting for! You somehow were able to capture the beauty and grandeur of the place and your poetic thoughts about it. You’re right - we need to protect our Wilderness areas big and small. That used to be my full time work and I am just so thrilled to see people share respect for our worldwide wilderness heritage. Thank you! So happy Carrie’s knees made it through! She was a trooper! Been there myself- the downhill can be excruciatingly painful and yet you still want to hold onto every moment in time. Glad it was transformative for you and really appreciate you taking us all along. Please keep sharing. Your storytelling is important!
Wow! This is the best video on Milford Track! I’m planning to do it running in a single at next Feb, do you know of any boat which would drop me off early in the morning?
No words, I love it. And I absolutly love that your and Carries videos make me so emotional. Thanks for that. ❤ Since you moved to New Zealand I am a huge fan. Seven years ago, I traveled through New Zealand with my twin brother and my boyfriend for seven month. We were 19 years old. One day I have to come back. Because of this special experience, I feel quite connected to New Zealand and I am looking forward to every new video from you two. 🤗Lovely greetings from Germany.
Absolutely beautiful, Alex! Well done! Thank you both for continuing to share your adventures, both at home and elsewhere. I always look forward to them! ~ Emily
My best friend and I are booked in to do this magical experience next year. Truely a dream come true. Thank you for an amazing video. A delight for not only my eyes but also my ears.
"the water is crystal clear, dont even need to purify it" when my father and I went on hikes (to which i naturally did not enjoy lol) we never took a drink bottle with us or a bladder, we just carabiner clipped a cup to our strap and just stropped at whatever calm slow creek or raging river and just scooped a couple cups up.
Long comment alert!! The script. The voice over. Mother nature herself in the background. The background music. Everything. Every single thing is just so so beautiful. Loved the video. Loved your journey. It's funny that i got so emotional in the last bit of the trek, as if i was finishing the trek. Good job guys. Also, the last bit where Carrie mentions about the last stretch before the finish point, that seemed to be after an emotional moment.. her face and voice moved me. If possible, in your podcast or a YT video, can you please also share how did you guys prepare yourself for this journey, both physically and mentally?
Aww thank you Manjusha - your comment is so meaningful. This is why I create and share. Thank you 🙏🏼 Yes we already shared about the walk on the last episode of the podcast. Have you heard it? @soulsugarco
Why am I crying??! HAHA so beautiful!!!!! The production style, the commentary (felt like I was listening to a Calm sleep story!), that footage of the waterfall and mossy boulders at 29:00 got me good! That needs to be my phone lock screen...pure tranquility! Amazing mahi and so inspiring!
Jeeze... Outstanding!!! Far out! This is award winning! Knew it would be great, but you've exceeded expectations! Someone hook Alex and Carrie up with Greenstone Pictures or Tourism NZ. This is absolutely epic! Congrats guys! Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.
You are so poetic, I could listen to you narrate all day. After hiking the Milford Track last weekend, I have nothing but respect for all of the times you walked back to get the camera 😂 Beautiful video and great representation of the magic this track is!
Thank you Amber. Yes we definitely added some KMs on walking back for the camera haha. Hope you check out some of my other hiking videos and subscribe because this weekend I’m dropping another great one.
Just, wow. Gorgeous and so moving. Stunning cinematography and beautiful words. I dream of returning to New Zealand and getting to experience this walk. Thank you for capturing this journey and sharing it with all of us.
Well done guys, amazing. My wife is kiwi and walked the track 3 times, before she got multiple sclerosis and cannot walk anymore, but we did Mitford once more, but in a helicopter. My wife thanks you both for the memories and love you share for our country and each other. Mount Cook village next, maybe. Best wishes: brian @ barbs.
Gorgeous film. Your poetic voiceover really enriches the visual experience. Great job and thanks so much for sharing! PS those birds are incredible. The purple one was so striking, and there was even a bird with Lanka colouring!
Wow wow wow, this video was epic. Didn’t think I could fall more in love with NZ than I already am but I was wrong. I’m going to come back and watch this often when I need to feel grounded and calm and put things in perspective. Truly beautiful and such incredible filmmaking talent Alex 😊
Kia Ora! What an amazing video! I was waiting for this video since Carrie said you were doing the Milford Sounds track. I lived in New Zealand for 15 months, and just got back to Portugal because of covid. Still, every day I dream to go back to New Zealand. Finally watching you guys, it gives me so much love and life. The love I have for New Zealand country and people will never go away. I will revisit this video everytime I need. Thank you once more! 💫
Thanks for capturing this glorious hike in such high definition, Alex! I'll be visit Milford Sound next week and this is a great preview of what's to come. It's such a rewarding experience that I'm sure you'll cherish for years to come.

well I enjoyed that... it looked so much like the paintings of my father the creator.. his paintings are perfect... a add popped up and it was for bush walks in Tasmania.. I didn't realise this walks existed.. not that I was looking so thats probably why 🤷♀ the footage was great and it was an enjoyable 35 minutes with you both, so thank you for taking me to a place I wouldn't have ever seen.. think I may have to research ones around me, become more aware...

Tino ataahua, breath taking scenery,I thoroughly enjoyed your video it was mesmerizing at every level, I am Maori who lives in Australia and to hear the tui sing, and see the other manu ( birds ) a choir of song birds in the dawn awakening, the waterfalls, mountains , mist covering the hills , I been and avid fan of your videos and this one reaches the pinnacle, thank you Alex
That moment went the mist dissipated left me breathless with tears in my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing your journey of this beautiful country and a place dear to my heart.
Thank you so much for this very beautiful and interesting video. I enjoyed every moment. Stunning views, combined with the nearly poetic narration. You got a new subscriber, greetings from Finland 😊
Thanks for this gorgeous video. I’m traveling to NZ in two weeks and just got a couple cameras to capture my trip. Never done a trip like this or vlogged before. Your video has made me sooooo excited to be there. 💚
Just beautiful! My knees would not cope with this trip so it was great to be able to "see" it along with you. It's a stunning, breathtaking place. Living 3 hours from Queenstown and having a son living in Arrowtown we know how amazing this part of NZ is, but going along the Milford Track with you made me appreciate it even more. Thankyou.
Stunning documentary and reminds us of just how beautiful yet precious our planet is. A trek that replenishes the soul. We are truly blessed that people like Alex and Carrie can bring this footage to us all.
Just production Alex, brings back memories of doing this trek in Jan 2020. Agree with jetboil we did the same, nice to have a hot drink on trail and some cheeky 2 minute noodles. Day 3 was hard, I really enjoyed this trek. But routeburne is my fav, I did it a long time ago, can wait to get back and do that hike again great video
After listening to your podcast stories from the trail, I knew how magical this film was going to be and it still blew my mind!! There were definitely tears when those clouds cleared!! Congratulations on such an epic trip and beautiful film :)
Milford Sound is on my bucketlist. I'd buy you a beer/coffee in person for the story, but your video encapsulated it better than words. This smalll token of appreciation will have to do for now

I love how well you managed to capture both the beauty and the challenge of doing a hike like that! Utterly fantastic!
Thank you Lorna 🙏🏼
Thank you so much Janelle 🙏🏼
Danke Friederike 🙏🏼
Thank you for this got to relive it without walking it again! Great stuff. Do the routeburn next year good views too. 🚶♀️🗻
It’s at the top of the list!
Absolutely beautiful, Alex! Well done! Thank you both for continuing to share your adventures, both at home and elsewhere. I always look forward to them! ~ Emily
Thank you Emily! I appreciate your support
I admire your perseverance. God watches and listens what is in your heart. Best wishes in all your undertakings. Excellent footage and poetic quotes.
Thank you Turma
My best friend and I are booked in to do this magical experience next year. Truely a dream come true. Thank you for an amazing video. A delight for not only my eyes but also my ears.
"the water is crystal clear, dont even need to purify it"
when my father and I went on hikes (to which i naturally did not enjoy lol) we never took a drink bottle with us or a bladder, we just carabiner clipped a cup to our strap and just stropped at whatever calm slow creek or raging river and just scooped a couple cups up.
Such a beautiful trek with lots of bird song and beautiful scenary. You lucky people.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Yes we already shared about the walk on the last episode of the podcast.
Happy tears 🤣
If I can get you to feel something - then my work as a storyteller is complete 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Aww thank you Jen Jen! Maybe one day soon ;)
I flew over Milford track in 1986 now can't walk far but thank you for walking for me still so majestic. Awesome video.

This video pierced through my soul. Seriously Emmy worthy!
Aww thank you Louisa 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Well done guys, amazing. My wife is kiwi and walked the track 3 times, before she got multiple sclerosis and cannot walk anymore, but we did Mitford once more, but in a helicopter. My wife thanks you both for the memories and love you share for our country and each other.
Mount Cook village next, maybe. Best wishes: brian @ barbs.
Aww thank you. This is heartwarming ❤️
Gorgeous film. Your poetic voiceover really enriches the visual experience. Great job and thanks so much for sharing! PS those birds are incredible. The purple one was so striking, and there was even a bird with Lanka colouring!
Thank you Dina!!! I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
Wow wow wow, this video was epic. Didn’t think I could fall more in love with NZ than I already am but I was wrong. I’m going to come back and watch this often when I need to feel grounded and calm and put things in perspective. Truly beautiful and such incredible filmmaking talent Alex 😊
Thank you Izzy. Your kind words are inspiration for new adventures and stories to be told
The moment when the mist cleared was so, so beautiful!
That was definitely a highlight.

Excellent video. Really enjoyed your narration. We visited New Zealand a few year ago, stayed at Lake Manapouri. Amazing place can't wait to go back.
Thankyou.
Aww thank you Tina 🙏🏼 The South Island is amazing
Stunning documentary and reminds us of just how beautiful yet precious our planet is. A trek that replenishes the soul. We are truly blessed that people like Alex and Carrie can bring this footage to us all.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Just production Alex, brings back memories of doing this trek in Jan 2020. Agree with jetboil we did the same, nice to have a hot drink on trail and some cheeky 2 minute noodles. Day 3 was hard, I really enjoyed this trek. But routeburne is my fav, I did it a long time ago, can wait to get back and do that hike again great video
Thank you! Yeah Day 3 was a mission!! We hope to do the Routeburn next season

Milford Sound is on my bucketlist. I'd buy you a beer/coffee in person for the story, but your video encapsulated it better than words. This smalll token of appreciation will have to do for now
Thank you Inman 🙏🏼

Cries when the wind swept the fog revealing the peak. So happy for you two.
What a stunning job you, both, have done documenting this gorgeous journey.
The photography is stunning and captures the trek so well. The parting of the clouds and mist in front of our eyes was spectacular. Your terrific trek and documentation was like being there!
Thank you Monty 🙏🏼
Thank you for capturing and sharing this beautiful track in New Zealand. The shots in this film are beautiful and so was the narration on this video.
I look forward to more videos from you and Carrie.
Thank you Ash 🙏🏼
New subscriber here. I'm doing youtube research for my next trip to NZ. Your channel is an ideal resource for me. I'm an American, living in LA and my husband and I explored the South Island in 2018. We are returning this year in December. I think this film of the Milford Track has inspired us to give it a try. You filmed it so beautifully, and your narration was perfect. Thank you for creating this film/video! I would have never thought I could do a hike like this, but now it feels possible and accessible.
Such a beautiful journey. So well documentated. I also hope one day that I get to be a part of this wonderful journey

Thank you a million times over Alex for this incredible experience! I have been an adventurer for many, many years but have never made it overseas, so to see this epic adventure is a treat for my soul. I am in my late 70's now, so probably won't ever get to enjoy this kind of hike and adventure. It was so fun to do it vicariously with you. I wish you many more years of exciting and fun adventures and will be watching you for as long as I live! Thank you again!
(BTW, I loved the commentary especially the quote "Landscapes like these is just paint for an artist's pallets")
Thank you Susan! I sincerely appreciate your support. More adventures are coming!
Just simply amazing!
Thank you John!
When i worked up there i loved catching the humongous Kiore ( bush rats) This video reminded me of those days the huts were not modern back in the 70s. Fantastic video thanks.
