@@JamesVSCinema there is a shot in Raid 2 during a car chase surrounding a fight in and outside a car that I challenge you to figure out without cheating and finding the behind the scenes video. Then go watch the behind the scenes video. It is one of the most creative solutions to a super tricky shot I have ever seen.
@@JamesVSCinema I'm just starting it now but I can already anticipate your appreciation for their directing choices as well. Because not only is the fight-choreography great, the film-makers do a beautiful job of portraying the action. It has very few of those annoying '10-cuts in 5 seconds' type of action scenes that are in a lot of Hollywood movies. Though yes, this does inspire a lot of movie and TV directors in recent years to capture fights much more clearly.
Agreed and I express that plenty here in this video. Especially watching tv shows like Daredevil I love when films allow the action sequence room to breathe and feel more realistic!
I think about the shot where the camera falls through the hole in the floor at least once a week. This is my favorite action movie that I’ve seen, it’s just a streamlined machine for showing the beauty of bodies in motion. It’s nearly impossible to watch movies with choppy, quick-cut action scenes after this and the John Wick movies.
It's really fun watching some one react to something that you have loved for a long time. You have the same reaction to this movie that I did and it's like getting to relive that feeling.

That’s the great thing about having two of the greatest martial artists in the world as the stars: not only can they choreograph their own fights and perform their own stunts, but the camera doesn’t have to constantly shake or quick cut :)
@@JamesVSCinema The 2nd one is quite a bit different in terms of setting/lot to this one. Where in this it's a very simple plot and one setting, the second film massively expands on the scope to the point where it's pretty much a crime epic in the vein of The Departed, except with AMAZING fight scenes thrown in throughout. The story basically goes the director wrote the second film first, but didn't have the budget to make it at the time, so wrote and made the first film, with its much smaller scope/budget, as a way to hopefully get the budget to make the sequel.
This is my favourite action movie due to not only the actual fight choreography but the emphasis on the environment as a weapon in a way I've never seen before.
Hey Evan hope you’re good today! And I’m so glad to hear that. You can tell there’s a passion within these fight scenes. They did a damn good job bringing it to light!
One of my favorite action movies ever! The second part is almost the Yin to Part One’s Yang, in that the story is much more complicated. More variety with the environments. I also believe Mad Dog was the stunt coordinator, hence him doing his own stunts, lol
A movie that of course landed on my top ten martial arts movies of the 2010s list. It was an epic decade for fight movies and The Raid 1&2 stood out as some of the absolute best.
Your reaction is great bro it really makes me appreciate the choreography that went into this film, even though I've seen it twice if I'm in need of an action film the raid is always my go to! I hope you react to number two it's amazing as well 😄
Theres a scene in the second one that the camera work is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Fight scene in one car... and camera... goes into another car. No cuts.
I remember the feeling I got when I saw this movie for the first time. It was the same feeling that I got when I saw a Jackie Chan movie for the first time. The feeling was that I had been lied to my entire life. This is what action/martial arts movies should be and I had never seen anything like this before. Every action/martial arts movie I see from now on will be compared to this.
Oh I remember seeing Dredd! That’s one of the many films that introduced me to cyberpunk! I can definitely see the similarities too. Thank you for the comment!
@@MrNiceGuy80x5 Actually this is a copy of Dredd of sorts. Dredd was made first. The director of this worked on Dredd, helped develop the story. Left the project, took the premise (law enforcement fighting their way up a building) and came up with The Raid.
Gareth Evans is one of my new favorite directors out there today. The use of the camera to tell a story is great. Other movies of his to show you what I mean: Merantau(might be spelled different) Raid 2 Appostle (netflix movie) VHS 2 (The cult story) tv series: Gangs of London
Loving your reviews. Glad you picked up on the camerawork, which stands back and lets the action sequences shine, no quick cuts, close-ups or flashy editing. This was raw, you see every hit. The story is basically a video game scenario...the protagonist has to work his way up the various levels. You definitely should watch the sequel. Its more epic, longer, but with some standout sequences. The similarity to the Karl Urban Judge Dredd is also noticable, also taking place in a tower block with Dredd having to work his way to the top, and thats also highly recommended.
Yes I remember seeing Dredd and now looking at this I love how they connect in that sense! And thank you for the comment John that means a lot to me brotha, I hope your day has been well so far!
6:20 the camera following the character fell through that hole, or the part when the main character smashing the bad guy's head to the wall and the camera following it, it makes the movie even more immersive and makes the audience feels like they're actually there involved in the action, and I think that what makes the whole thing works.
Seeing your reaction here, i'm pretty sure you'll love the raid 2, and also the night comes for us starring jaka ( joe taslim ) the guy who got killed by mad dog and rama ( iko uwais ) the star in this movie, love the lighnting, colours, camera movement, fight choreo in that movie, but that movie is way gorier than the raid redemption and the raid 2 tho i mean waaaayyy gorier and bloodier, it's on netflix
Fun Fact: All the guns in this movie are actually Airsoft guns, and in the light of the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins, Hollywood should take this route... Airsoft guns look and feel real, some even have shells that eject... They don't even have to be loaded with the plastic bbs... and everything else like muzzle flash, smoke, and sound can be added in post production....
If you enjoyed this banger you have to see The Night Comes For Us. A truly hidden gem that not many know about. It has your favorite duo back together again, Joe and Ito and the action is non-stop with the same next level cinematography as in The Raid. Hope you enjoy.
Oh and the little guy in this film is like Last Level Boss type ish, seriously. If it was a horror movie, he'd be back up with the syringe still stuck in his neck on your heels.
Your combination of thoroughly excellent commentary, based on both the simple characterisation aspect of this story, and the incredible technical aspects of this movie (both martial arts and the visual arts), has been a pleasure to watch. Thankyou and I look forward to catching up on everything you've already uploaded.x
cannot wait for Gareth Evans television series Gangs of London to release in the US finally later this year which has already been released in the UK. there are a lot of great behind the scenes/making videos on both The Raid Redemption and The Raid 2: Berendal worth checking out featuring the gareth evans, iko uwais and a ton on the fight choreography and stunts.
@@JamesVSCinema glad to see it was renewed for a second season already and hopefully with the move to AMC from Cinemax we'll see more marketing for the show closer to its US premiere.
@@JamesVSCinema i enjoy your commentary/insight on films that i already enjoy. one other fun fact is that Iko Uwais (Rama/main lead) is the credited action choreographer for The Raid and the fight choreographer for The Raid 2. unfortunate his talent gets wasted in every US movie he's in though: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mile 22 and Stuber.
Iko Uwais is an AMAZING martial artist and I saw him 1st in "Merantau" which was DOPE🔥He had me so mesmerized that when I found out he was doing the "RAID" 1-2, I HAD 2 WATCH THEM! I believe it was the same director 4 the "RAID" as "Merantau" I LOVE them❤🔥 GREAT FILMS, done differently, but DEFINITELY the "RAID" is one of the best martial arts/action films I've seen, I'd put it in my top 5 list😁😊
I actually remember a movie called "The Protector" with Tony Yaa. There is this one shot in the movie where the camera tracks him, uncut, for like 10 minutes. He goes up a building and is beating guys left and right. You should really check that movie out, the choreography is really great.
I always loved that the choreographer knew his stuff down to "Wrestling beats all MMA, you can't deny it" and was the only one to sprinkle it into his fight as a _proper boss_ should have.
Hey dude, really glad you highlighted the fact that it 100% excels at what the director was aiming for, even if that lets down some of the more usual tentpoles of "good cinema". I've seen this movie get a bit of derision from some people for lackluster character development/plot/whatever, and I really don't get the problem. Sometimes you just want a cheeseburger (or action movie), not a 13 course Michelin star dinner. Not everything has to be Oscar bait, and that doesn't make it a bad movie
All of the main fighters were former martial art athletes -Iko Uwais (Rama), Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog): Pencak Silat -Joe Taslim (Jaka): Judo -Godfred Orindeod (the machete guy): Tarung Dradjat Donny Alamsyah (Andi) also practiced martial art
The first time I saw this movie, it was in Tagalog without sub-titles, and I still completely understood the movie from beginning to end. I loved the long single-shot action scenes. We've become so accustomed to split-second jump-cut action scenes that it is refreshing to see one shot for a whole action scene.
Watching this near the end of September, listening to you thanking everyone for 2k subscribers, while seeing that you're now at 14.5k gives me a big smile! Congrats on the success! This movie is one of my all-time favorites! I personally like The Raid 1 better, than the second part but I see that the sequel is a far superior movie technically! As always I really enjoy your insightful commentary! Thanks so much and keep on going - I guess you're just getting startet...
What’s up! I’m doing great man thank you for asking, yes that last fight with MadDog was incredible! Every single punch and kick..I FELT that hahaha. Hope you’re doing well too my brother!
"You guys have a whole SWAT Team he has a hammer, unless this dude's a super hero I'm pretty sure you guys should be pretty good.". 😅😅😅 He had no clue. This film is a cut above. It's in its own class with the action, story and the cinematography.
I remember watching this early doors, and making everyone i knew watch it. The man responsible for The Raid films, just did a very unknown TV show called Gangs of London. Highly recommend it!
Took me a while to see this one but totally blew me away too. Up to this point I was a huge Tony Ja fan and didn't have any other modern action contemporary equals so I was happy to have more super stars to appreciate. Still will always remember the opening action for The Protecter though where Tony flies in from off camera and crushed a guy with his knees 🤯
Like you said, you can make the same story but it will be played differently with different camera work and how it's told. Should check out Dredd with Karl Urban, same basic premise. Dredd and rookie Anderson go into a building to investigate a killing and it goes south. Great movie as well.
Great reaction!, i remember seeing this movie a long time ago and it was so good!, also you should check out “Chronicle”, it’s a very underrated and unique found footage movie about teens with superpowers!, keep up the great content man!
Oh man, I recommend you to review movie called "The Night Came For Us" it's a same main actor but will blow your perspective action movie. This movie one of the best netflix action category.
Jackie Chan always said the camera should be set back from the fight so you could see what was happening. He thought close, tight shots did not convey the action properly (they're also cheap and lazy, and a good way to disguise poor choreography). This movie shows why he was right.
Hey man, I gotta say I appreciate your words in the start of your videos wishing us all well! It's nice to just get that acknowledgement out of nowhere when watching your videos. It's always appreciated! Since you're into filmmaking, I'd recommend a newer channel called "Trago", that makes bite-sized entertaining, and somewhat educational videos on the topic of filmmaking. Not asking you to react to the channel, just a little recommendation from one film lover to another. I'd recommend his most popular video about lighting as a starter. Hope you're doing good as well James! Always look forward to your insightful videos!
My brotha Noah! I’m very happy to hear that man. I try my best to let people know that at least to me, you guys aren’t numbers or statistics..but actual humans haha. I really do wish everyone happiness but I’m not blind enough to not see reality so I try my best to just tell people to keep digging! Also, thank you for that recommendation man! I appreciate all forms of education and I’d be the last person to tell you “I don’t need to learn that.” As a filmmaker I’m always open for educating hence this channel haha. So thank you for that Noah and have an awesome day for real!
@@JamesVSCinema I appreciate your words man! Watching this video I actually got thinking if you're interested in other foreign films? Because one of my countries' (Denmark) most revered films is "The Hunt (2012) " with Mads Mikkelsen, and I'd love to see you react to that sometime in the future if you're interested. It's a hauntingly realistic drama, with great writing, and some of our best danish actors in it. No one on RUclips has reacted to it yet, and if I know one thing about Danish people, it's that we grow strangely patriotic when non-danish people react to something danish, so I'm sure it would bring some Danish people to the channel as well! I've always been interested in seeing what a non-danish person thinks about our films :) We also have an interesting film movement called "Dogme 95" (there's a great Wikipedia article on it), with 10 strict rules that challenge the filmmaker to think outside the box regarding the aspect of film production. Something to look into if you're interested in a unique take on filmmaking. (I'll stop marketing my country now haha! Just fun to see someone appreciate film as much as you do.)
Written and directed by Gareth Evans, DOP = Matt Flannery, and the main actors themselves are the choreographers haha. It's worth looking up how they use pre vis to achieve the amazing camera choreography, it's really a collaborative effort between all involved. Gareth Evans had a grander mob movie in mind for The Raid, so he farted this masterpiece out to secure the big budget for The Raid 2, which only ups the ante. Gareth and Matt recently worked together on a show here in the UK called Gangs of London, I'm not sure how legally available it is in the US, but there (of course) are some amazing action scenes there too
People wondering the fighting technique. Its chinese kung fu in the core, but many fight scenes features improvisation and possibly other techniques too.
Great film. I need to watch Raid 2. You should check out Apostle, same director, it's on Netflix. I'm curious, what are your top 3 favorite films of all time?
@7:48 you can see what is happening! yes! The Bourne Identity wasn't awesome because the camera was so shaky in one of the fight scenes that you couldn't even see the face of who he was fighting until after a few minutes. And the car fight in the tunnel in the next movie is when I turned the movie off, and I rarely just nope out. I want fight scenes that show what's happening and make it look awesome. Study the first Blade movie - that movie's action is shot and edited very well.
3 coreographers. Mad dog, joe, iko. Yes. Even until today, I wanna keep puking whenever I see their scenes... Iike, uhh.. I don't need to explain it. You know what I mean... And yes, all of them are true masters in the real world on their fields of expertise.
Found you via your Sicario reaction and loved your commentary, started checking your other vids and instantly subbed. You make great content and I hope you keep it up. Thank you for your work!
Oh fun fact, I'm sure you've looked it up by now but if anyone else was interesting in knowing the choreography was actually led by the main actor Iko Uwais and Yayan Tuhian who played Mad Dog. They led the choreography in other films too that they were in.
@@JamesVSCinema I know I´m way, WAY late to this comment section, and you have probably read up on it in the intervening four years...but since I´m not seeing it mentioned anywhere else I just need to throw in the main reason why the cinematography and choreography is so incredibly seamless in this movie. This movie was made on an incredibly tight budget and they knew they would only have a very limited time on set, so the core group, as in director, main actors and crew knew the only way they could get everything done on set and on schedule was to be incredibly prepared. So this is one of the few movies where the fight scenes were basically fully mapped out and edited before they were shot. They mapped everything out in pre-production, filming the fight scenes as they were being developed in the gym and editing them on a laptop during the same sessions, creating a moving storyboard that very closely followed the eventual footage. This also allowed for incredibly tight cooperation between camera operator and the actors doing the fight scenes, as he was in on all the sessions, and Gareth Evans has said he always sees the camera operator as being as much a participant in the fight scene as the people throwing the punches. He has to get his reps in too. This method of preproduction meant they were an incredibly well oiled machine once they got on set and everyone was in costume etc, and could just bang out exactly the shots they needed rapidly, which is one reason why every shot is so intense - they weren needing to do dozens of takes to get things right, tiring out the actors and slowing everything down. It was still gruelling of course, but much less so than if they had done thing with the mindset of just getting enough footage to then being able to string something coherent together in post production.
The fact is this movie has budget that 10 times cheaper than others Hollywood movies, They never expected that this movie will getting so much attention, You should watch their bts, how creative they did on the process with that low budget they had
I know I ain't part of your patreon, but this reaction is a nice surprise :)) They need Gareth Evans' Indonesian Stunt Team to be in a Mortal Kombat movie cause damn :)
I loved seeing this movie and appreciated the seamless action shots and brutality. . . I think that's why John Wick is so popular. You could also count that hallway shot in Daredevil as well as Oldboy.
Martial artists/Stuntman Scott Adkins has a great podcast witch features in depth interviews with actors, directors and stunt coordinators. One of the episodes features "The Raid" director Gareth Evans where he goes deep into how he prepares and films his action scenes. The whole podcast is great behind the scenes look at Martial Arts productions. Also...Gareth Evans tv show " Gangs of London" is amazing , well worth a watch. Great reaction, stay safe n healthy .
Always great to wake up to these videos. I know you are getting tons of recommendations like wind river and the raid 2 which definitely need to be watched. Taylor Sheridan (writer and director of wind river and writer of some of my favorite movies) is consistently putting out thought provoking and important scripts. Buuut, to add another to the list, theres a netflix film called the night comes for us which was directed by a horror director who worked on short films with gareth Evan's on V/H/S. It also has amazing fight sequences and insane action similar to the raid. Very beautiful just maybe not as tight as gareth Evan's work. Thanks and sorry for the long comment.

Hell yeah man! Love the Raid. This film brought the martial art Silat to popularity in the US and put Gareth Edwards on the map
MadDog is such a dope name haha, yeah these action sequences were jaw dropping!
@@JamesVSCinema MadDog ---> Spell Backwards ---> goDdaM.
I hope you react to number two it's amazing as well 😄
Always my man! Can’t wait for you guys to see my thoughts on the second movie on Wednesday!
This is one of the best movies to see people react to. They just never expect that level of violence!
Theres a scene in the second one that the camera work is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Fight scene in one car... and camera... goes into another car. No cuts.
I made sure to put the second one in this current poll so definitely check it! I may see it sooner rather than later!
Great commentary as always! You should check out Dredd, it's a trippy cyberpunk take on the same concept.
Oh I remember seeing Dredd! That’s one of the many films that introduced me to cyberpunk! I can definitely see the similarities too. Thank you for the comment!
dredd was pretty much an american copy of the movie
@@MrNiceGuy80x5 Actually this is a copy of Dredd of sorts. Dredd was made first. The director of this worked on Dredd, helped develop the story. Left the project, took the premise (law enforcement fighting their way up a building) and came up with The Raid.
Gareth Evans is one of my new favorite directors out there today. The use of the camera to tell a story is great. Other movies of his to show you what I mean:
Merantau(might be spelled different)
Raid 2
Appostle (netflix movie)
VHS 2 (The cult story)
tv series: Gangs of London
Some random recommendations. Gattaca 1997. Falling Down 1993. Dark City 1998. Collateral 2004. The Game 1997.
GATTACA underrated scifi. Love it and The Game had really fun twist..
6:20 the camera following the character fell through that hole, or the part when the main character smashing the bad guy's head to the wall and the camera following it, it makes the movie even more immersive and makes the audience feels like they're actually there involved in the action, and I think that what makes the whole thing works.
not just a reaction, you give some good and well explained commentary about your opinion
good work
Seeing your reaction here, i'm pretty sure you'll love the raid 2, and also the night comes for us starring jaka ( joe taslim ) the guy who got killed by mad dog and rama ( iko uwais ) the star in this movie, love the lighnting, colours, camera movement, fight choreo in that movie, but that movie is way gorier than the raid redemption and the raid 2 tho i mean waaaayyy gorier and bloodier, it's on netflix
This is the kind of movie i recommend to my friends who are not so deep in movies. The typical friend who love Fast and Furious
I think that’s a brilliant introduction to more international films for them too. Good work on spreading this movie to others!
"Y'all must be havin some good vitamins, man.... Drink your milk, guys." That had me laughin 😂
The actor who plays Mad Dog was also the fight choreographer for the film!
He does phenomenal work! Thanks for the comment Raul
You need to watch "I Saw the Devil"
Will keep that in mind!
this film show you how to get better revenge wat a film
"I saw the devil" is a great movie. Also i recommend "The Chaser", "A Hard Day", "Infernal Affairs"and many many more... 😂 And don't miss The Raid 2.
I Saw the Devil left me in a state, that’s for sure lol
It's a great movie, really surprised me.
Joe Taslim who played the swat captain is playing Bi-Han aka Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat film.
“This crack energy is like on something else”
Seriously Maddog is an animal
Very satisfying to watch James be blown away.
Your combination of thoroughly excellent commentary, based on both the simple characterisation aspect of this story, and the incredible technical aspects of this movie (both martial arts and the visual arts), has been a pleasure to watch. Thankyou and I look forward to catching up on everything you've already uploaded.x
Much love hearing this Jay! Thank you!
cannot wait for Gareth Evans television series Gangs of London to release in the US finally later this year which has already been released in the UK.
there are a lot of great behind the scenes/making videos on both The Raid Redemption and The Raid 2: Berendal worth checking out featuring the gareth evans, iko uwais and a ton on the fight choreography and stunts.
Yes I’m excited for that too, one of my good friends whose an art director helped design some covers for that show!
@@JamesVSCinema glad to see it was renewed for a second season already and hopefully with the move to AMC from Cinemax we'll see more marketing for the show closer to its US premiere.
That would be awesome! Also thank you for commenting as well, I really enjoy talking with everyone here in the community! Enjoy the day my friend
@@JamesVSCinema
i enjoy your commentary/insight on films that i already enjoy.
one other fun fact is that Iko Uwais (Rama/main lead) is the credited action choreographer for The Raid and the fight choreographer for The Raid 2. unfortunate his talent gets wasted in every US movie he's in though: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mile 22 and Stuber.
17:33".... Got milk!". Got damn bruh, you really got me there
Since you already watched Sicario, I'd recommend watching Wind River. It's made by the same director, though the story is a bit grim.
Check my pinned comment Alex, I’m sure you’ll be happy haha!
It's not the same director, it's the same writer
@@joancolmenares9357 Sorry , my mistake.
Hell or High Water is also written by the same guy and just as good
its diffrent director
All of the main fighters were former martial art athletes
-Iko Uwais (Rama), Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog): Pencak Silat
-Joe Taslim (Jaka): Judo
-Godfred Orindeod (the machete guy): Tarung Dradjat
Donny Alamsyah (Andi) also practiced martial art
Shit James, now I got to see the raid again!! The way you describe the camera work is awesome. Love your reactions and insights. Great job as always.
Appreciate that Jose!! That truly means a lot man and I hope your day is going well too! Loved this film especially it’s camera work and choreography
The first time I saw this movie, it was in Tagalog without sub-titles, and I still completely understood the movie from beginning to end. I loved the long single-shot action scenes. We've become so accustomed to split-second jump-cut action scenes that it is refreshing to see one shot for a whole action scene.
Don't wanna be that guy, but it's in Indonesian (or Bahasa), not Tagalog. It's an Indonesian movie, not Filipino after all.
How come its in tagalog? The native of this movies is Indonesian, called Bahasa Indonesia
Hahaha my man, this comment made me smile! This community is absolutely incredible. I can’t thank y’all enough, literally haha
3:05 certain character from The Raid 2 gives him the side eye lol
Yo that two on one long fight mustve been exhausting to do over and over.
@5:59 "hopped up on drugs or something?" and later, perhaps the best fight scene is set in the drug lab... *chef's kiss*
Yes! James glad you're doing good. This movie is fantastic, the fight with MadDog and the brothers is my favorite. Keep up the good work. Much love
What’s up! I’m doing great man thank you for asking, yes that last fight with MadDog was incredible! Every single punch and kick..I FELT that hahaha. Hope you’re doing well too my brother!
@@JamesVSCinema I am man. Thanks for the shout out.
"You guys have a whole SWAT Team he has a hammer, unless this dude's a super hero I'm pretty sure you guys should be pretty good.". 😅😅😅 He had no clue.
This film is a cut above. It's in its own class with the action, story and the cinematography.
Definitely with the action hahaha, was absolutely loving the choreography!
@@JamesVSCinema Try "Dredd 2012" if you like non stop action (it's like Raid but with guns).
Ayyy your film choices for reactions remains on a 🔥 streak!
Hahaha loved time hear that! Much love to the patron people. They’ve been killing it with the votes!
The martial art style is Pencak SIlat. It is an insanely brutal martial art form.
Yeah I can definitely see the brutality of it hahaha!
Hey thank you my friend!! Glad you were able to enjoy it, hope you’re having a great day/night as well! I believe I’ve seen Chronicle before too!
The best Film in decade
I love watching people’s reaction to the door neck stab in the machete scene.
bruh the second one is insane just imagine this movie but with a much bigger budget
The main actor and the one called "Mad Dog" were fight choreographer in this film.
12:09
there is no stuntman in this movie
I've always been interested in seeing what a non-danish person thinks about our films :)
We also have an interesting film movement called "Dogme 95" (there's a great Wikipedia article on it), with 10 strict rules that challenge the filmmaker to think outside the box regarding the aspect of film production.
Gareth and Matt recently worked together on a show here in the UK called Gangs of London, I'm not sure how legally available it is in the US, but there (of course) are some amazing action scenes there too
Thanks for letting me in the know of Gangs of London! I’ve heard a few things about that!
People wondering the fighting technique. Its chinese kung fu in the core, but many fight scenes features improvisation and possibly other techniques too.
Story wise The Raid 2 is a bit more fleshed out with more creative fighting
Great film. I need to watch Raid 2. You should check out Apostle, same director, it's on Netflix. I'm curious, what are your top 3 favorite films of all time?
Your 'got milk' comment had me creased 😂
Not gonna lie I was cracking up too 😂😂 they really missed out on capitalizing that hahaha!
17:28 “Drink your milk … the whole thing was a Got Milk commercial.”
@15:16 I forget how this scene went down... just remembered it was overwhelmingly dope.
"This dude is a cop?! Arrest me!"
Ship launched.
"I don't ever wanna fight him"
Ship sunk.
Awesome this is my favorite raid movies. Specifically the fight at the end with. Mad dog
Hahaha I loved that fight. I wouldn’t last 5 seconds in that match up though lmao!
Pencak Silat is the Indonesian Martial Art featured in this movie. It is deadly and have been around since 1955....
Before yayan ruhian (mad dog) became an actor, he was a combat trainer for indonesian secret service
These movies get my aggression out better than hitting a punching bag.
This means a lot, thank you for subbing and welcome to the community!
Oh fun fact, I'm sure you've looked it up by now but if anyone else was interesting in knowing the choreography was actually led by the main actor Iko Uwais and Yayan Tuhian who played Mad Dog. They led the choreography in other films too that they were in.
Hey Andrea! That’s really damn awesome. I can tell he loves the craft behind choreography in films and it shows!
The fact is this movie has budget that 10 times cheaper than others Hollywood movies,
They never expected that this movie will getting so much attention,
You should watch their bts, how creative they did on the process with that low budget they had
The Night Comes for Us is another film by this director, I highly recommend it.
The Night Comes For Us is directed by Timo Tjahjanto not Gareth Evans. it does star Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais and Julie Estelle (The Raid 2) however.
I believe I mayyyy have seen that. Was that the one with the red door and the weird disease etc?
@@JamesVSCinema the movie you are thinking of is A24's "It Comes At Night."
I know I ain't part of your patreon, but this reaction is a nice surprise :)) They need Gareth Evans' Indonesian Stunt Team to be in a Mortal Kombat movie cause damn :)
Hey I’m just happy you’re here my man! Thanks for enjoying the video. And could you imagine!?
The best pure action film I've ever seen!!!
What’s up Roland, never apologize for commenting my man. I appreciate it! So thank you for expressing that. On the pinned comment I’m actually doing Wind River as the random video for tomorrow. Loved that film. And I’ll definitely check that out my man! Love exploring more unique stories so it’s never a disservice letting me know about some. I’ll be able to get to at least one eventually hahaha. Cheers my friend!
