Fun fact. The guy that played "Mad Dog" was actually the fight choreographer for this film and the sequel.
Nope. All the choreo from Iko
Its actually Iko and his team
Fun fact. He was actually not. (Not alone.) The director, Iko and him did it together
Iko and Yayan making it first after merantau for both raid, Evan too love Silat, so he doesn't have problem about Iko and yayan's Choreo, all explain on inverview
This movie was released a few days before I moved overseas for several years. I wanted to go to the movies with two of my friends. One of them insisted we see The Hunger Games. The other one didn’t care which movie. None of them heard of The Raid but I saw the trailer for it and knew it looked sick. My loser buddy who wanted to see Hunger Games, I told him if you don’t like The Raid, I’ll reimburse both your movie tickets. Suffice it to say, no reimbursement was necessary. Sometimes you gotta force people to see the light.
Wow, you think too much about yourself just for a movie.
This movie changed the game for martial arts in movies and tv. I really hope you guys watch the Raid 2
''The night comes for us'', the most violent movie in martial arts. The main character of the Raid is also there. Watch it!
White boy Bobby!
"Headshot" is good also, its also staring most of the same characters
Yes also Hammer 🔨 girl from Raid 2 is also in that film....that film is beautifully violent. Great suggestion.
I'm sorry but that film was garbage. There IS a point where the violence is too much. TOO unrealistic. The Raid is way better
@@dongiano think the extra violence is part of the fun. Also The Raid is not exactly praised for its "realism".
Both are them are unrealistic but fun as hell. That's pretty much it.
The raid is without contest one of the best action movies ever made.
The fights are pure awesomeness.
It kinda sucks seeing this movie because nothing else compares.
Except maybe Drunken Master 1994.
@@AngryJT the choreography is a couple notches down from the Raid series, but The Night Comes For Us and Headshot are similar in the level of hyper-violent chaos.
@@kellenphan7198 Thanks for the heads up.
Hands down the best action film in the past 12 yrs in my opinion. It's SO FUCKING GOOD!
Can't think of any other film that has had more "OMG!" moments. Great video, guys.
human centipede
Wait til they see Raid 2 !!!
Wait until you see The Raid 2(2014)&The Night Come For Us(2018)
Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) is a pencak silat master. Apparently he once taught pencak silat to the Indonesian Presidential Security Forces and Indonesian Military Police Corps.
Omg I'm so jealous of you guys for watching this for the first time.
For my money, probably the best action movie ever. The second one is also a contender for that title and very deserving of a react.
The fights were good in the sequel, but I just did not care about the story at all, which they spend a lot of time on. This one worked cause it was simple, and executed superbly.
Raid series is one of the greatest action movies i have ever seen. OF ALL TIME. Raid 2 is much longer and has alot of story line, yet they managed to pack in so much great moments in that as well. Cant wait for you guys to react to that, After Raid 2, go for The Night Comes For Us. You think this is brutal? Night comes for us will leave your jaw on floor.
The amount of ass kicking is just awesome. My top three kills /fight scenes:
3. Hallway fight and takedown on a broken door.
2. Stairway shootout and the guy getting tossed off to a lower floor before landing on the railing on his damn spine.
1. Mad Dog final fight and the damn filament bulb shard to the neck.
When everyone asked me for an action recommendation. The Raid (Alongside with The Raid 2) is the first thing i'll bring to them. This movie had everything i want from an action films. Great choreography, awesome cinematography (which actually compliments the action. Not ruining it like what shaky cam and quick edits trend does to a mainstream movies), Simple enough story that doesnt distract you from the fights. Truly big thanks to Gareth Evans to show everyone how to properly do a good action to everyone, Also to introduce Indonesian cinema to the world in like the most badass way possible. He's one if not the best action director living in this era. The Raid and Judge dredd both had similiar premise and being released almost at the same time is really an unexpected thing but they dont really copied each other and booth are good on their own. They both did take inspiration from Die hard. Thats it. Btw The Raid 2 was originally made as the first movie but they dont have enough budget to make it happen. So Gareth remade some stuff so he could have a single place to shoot the film and hoped the film would make enough money to made The Raid 2 (which turned out to be a big hit that nobody expect). The Raid 2 is a brilliant sequel to an already great prequel so its definetly a must watch. Its better almost at every single way possible than the first film
always a blast to see people react to this one, probably tied with fury road for me as *the* modern action movie
sequel is an amazing movie in its own right, setpieces might be even better and you should definitely react to it, but i kinda admire the purity of this one, barely any plot or backstory needed, just bang bang bang bang
Fury Road was terrible
I liked the sequel, and I respect that it didn't just copy the original, but it went for more of a convolute Hong Kong-style crime thriller with multiple characters and confusing plot lines. The knife fight in the kitchen is still the best though.
@@voodoochile333 Seems to be a love/hate movie. I don't understand why people dislike it. The only thing bad is the dialogue.
Fury Road was garbage Hollywood bs compared to the Raid lmao your taste is very interesting
@@DvitusR What is it you dislike about Fury Road? Script, dialogue, action scenes, casting, plot, costumes, etc?
This movie is martial art and action GOLD.
And I thank you both for praising stunt people. Not just cause I am one myself but I always thought it was weird that there never were a catagory or ANYTHING for stuntmen and stuff.
There are The Movie Awards/Oscars
We should totally have our own category. For best stunts, longest stunt/fightscene, and so on.
MAN those people really put it on the line.
And i'm just a small stuntman from denmark. I do shit too but come oooon.
No where near THIS level of shit😱
Top 5 martial arts action movie ever made. I went into this with no knowledge of anything. I didn’t the actors, story, country, or even the type of movie it was.. surprised is an understatement for what I felt after the 1st hallway fight scene. Seriously watching this movie gave me the exact same feeling I had as a kid when I watched Bloodsport. Just amazing and im glad u guys got to experience it aswell
The sequel and the film "The Night Comes For Us" must be essential viewing brothers.
I just watched 2016's Headshot a couple nights ago, it's just as brutal and like The Raid 2 Iko takes on the Baseball Batman & Hammer Girl actors in 2 outstanding fight scenes. Worth a reaction.
Wu assassin is one to try too. It had terrible cgi at some point and awkward music choice but the fights (Expecially with Iko) is just brilliant.
Yall are definitely in for a treat when you get to the Raid 2, then you can long for a third film like the rest of us haha
YES! Haven't even started the video, but I am so glad that you guys are reacting to this movie!! I remember watching it in a small theater when it came out and then anticipating the sequel!! Such a good movie!
YES! Always my number one pick to see people react to. You have to watch the sequel, it's incredible.
Dredd actually came out a year later in 2012, and both Dredd and The Raid: Redemption followed by 2005 The Protector (Tom-Yum-Goong) with Tony Jaa (there is an 8-minute uncut stairway fight sequence) and finally goes back to Bruce Lee’s iconic 1972 The Game of Death end sequence tower fight.
YES!! We knew for a FACT that you guys would enjoy The Raid🔥🔥🔥🔥 Tune in to Part 2 next😈😈
Fun fact: The choreographer for this movie was the actor himself, Iko Uwais👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Both Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) too
Fun fact: Yayan Ruhian used to train the Indonesian secret service, that's how badass he is.
You will love the second movie. Also, the guy that died in the fight at 22:00 came back as Sub-zero, lol
I'm Sub-Zero...
This is one of the best action movies ever…the sequel is even better.🔥👍
Yes guys!!! This franchise is deffo in my top 3 of most badass martial movies. The fight scenes are just insane 🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction guys 😊
Indonesian films are so underrated. It would be great to see more reactions
Well, with this one you knocked it out of the park. Classic, one of the best. Also many great indie and horror movies from Indonesia.
@@kevindorn2508 How Indonesian is it? Directed by a Welsh gentleman... The direction in this movie (as well as Merentau) is simply insane (check out Gangs of London if you like his style). Iko, and Yaya are for sure Indonesian but some other key players in the cast are not.
Mind you, my indonesian cinema skills are limited to Gareth and Iko, I fell in love with both and sad to say, neither of them are as good without the other... They really make each other's skills stand out.
Gotta admit that we (Im Indonesian) havent been able to produce a lot of quality movies so far, but we do have a few good ones. If anyone wants to try some Indonesian horror, I do recommend ‘Impetigore’. Directed by an Indonesian director, Joko Anwar. 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
@@m.dievero Yes! Indonesian horror, even the games produced, are something to appreciate
@@revariox189 Headshot, The Night Comes For Us?have you watched it?
Both are directed by Indonesians, meaning that Indonesia can make good action movies, even without Gareth
Well, even though it can be admitted, it was Gareth who triggered the development of action films in Indonesia
Greetings from Indonesia bro. Thank you for reacting The Raid. It is sure The Raid is insane but rest assured that we will make more movies like The Raid ;)
Lol the intro to this video before the movie had me dying. You guys should seriously do the second movie.
This is the best action film I have ever watched.
If I remember correctly, it was Mad Dogg who choreographed the fight scenes. Great reaction
Along with iko
Yess finally, thank you, I keep seeing people say it’s iko only but they forgot that mad dog aka yayan is a pencak silat master with a lot of experience, he did the choreography with iko, without him the raid wouldn’t be so good
If u guys want more brutal fight scene, watch 'the night comes for us'
Finally...this! And the sequel is even better. "The Raid 2" is the best martial arts action movie ever made.
I want to see them react to the hammers in Raid 2.
The sequel is my go-to action move recommendation.
Whether anyone asked or not.
You are a mean person. After they watch your recommendation, No other action movie will ever compare.... It's all boring and back to regular normal stuff after Raid and Raid 2 man. Well Gangs of London brings back the feel as it was directed by Gareth Evans as well but still. He is in a league of his own and sadly no one learned from him or tried to replicate it.
Fun fact! Iko Uwais (Rama) and Yayan Ruhian (Mad dog) are the fight choreographers for the film!
Great reaction n reviews guys. Please continue with Raid2 for more whooping ass actions, then The Night Comes for Us for MORE extreme brutality.
The brutal, amazing choreography is some of the best I've seen in any movie. I don't think anything came close until the John Wick movies.
Actually, if you want the worst editing in a fight, see The Man with the Iron Fists. That big fight at the end, if you asked me what was going on at any given time, I couldn't tell you, because the camerawork was all over the place and there were so many cuts, it was incomprehensible.
Is that the one where drax plays a golden dude
@@christucker7655 I don't know about Batista, but that rapper RZA and Russel Crowe are in it. Again, even if he was in it, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell from the camerawork.
@@Blackferret66 yeh I just watched the last scene it’s him 😂
@@christucker7655 Then you got better eyes than me, my friend. :D
The final Resident evil movie anyone? (Not the raccoon city one ) Like i cant see shit anymore in that shit. Still an entertaining movie though
All of Mad Dogs fights and that hallway door kill are the reasons i have rewatched this so many times lol
YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH, This has made my DAY!!! I have been waiting for you guys to check this one out. Hands down one of my favorite films ever! ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTION FILMS EVER!! You have to check out more with lead Iko Uwais. He and the crew of martial artists and fight choreographers create some awesomely cool fight scenes in there other flicks. He works a lot with Joe Taslim the actor/martial artist who played Sub-Zero in the recent Mortal Kombat film.🤟🤟👍👍
raid 2 begins exactly from where the first part ends
Watched this for the first time at a friends bachelor party after a night of drinking and range shooting. Safe to say this capped off the night and fired everyone the fuck up.
I'm still sad you guys haven't reacted to the sequel, because it's just as good and chaotic as this movie.
I love that you guys spend most of the movie with your mouths open in shock and awe. It's really one of the best action movies of all time, with the possible exception of the sequel, which is even more brutal and beautiful in it's own way.
One of the best action films ever .. Im now watching the lead kick ass in, the netflix movie Fistful of Vengeance and tv show Wu assassins .
He and the director deserve a lot of credit .
The Night Comes For Us, Iko is the bad guy in this one. It's about a group of assassins trying to protect a girl from Iko and his crime syndicate.
Way to go guys, now do The Raid 2 lol
I love John Wick, but I still think this is my favorite action movie. Saw this one in the theater. Favorite kill is the splintered door.
This is the most hype reaction movie i ever watch, never see reactor so much adrenaline after watching some tiny asian kicking ass 😂
Please please watch the sequel, The Raid 2. Think this movie is crazy? The sequel is even crazier!
Maybe you remembered the movie Old Boy? that movie had a hallway fight scene lol. This movie is one of my favorite of all time! The fights are insane! Great reaction guys!
I've seen your reaction content many times. And I'm very happy, finally you guys watch a movie from my country. Greetings from Indonesia
Just want to put a perspective on you guys, the bad guys aren't some random stunt men. They're actually Indonensia's National athletes from various martial art branch. They compete on the Olympic and Asian games. They're literally Indonensia's finest martial artists
Scott Adkins fight scenes are smooth, he does his own fights and most of his own stunts. He's said that the worst scene he ever filmed was one of the Mission Impossible movies, to much shakey cam and cut edits, he despises those, prefers to traditional Hong Kong styles of martial arts scenes, full body shots, steady & smooth cameras and smart cuts that flow with the movements of the fight.
Can't wait to see your Raid 2 reaction 😃👍🏼
I’m so happy that u guys finally got to watch this movie
Love to see you guys reactions with full shock moment 😂😂😂
Mad dog was a beast in this film. This movie was crazy on the action. My friend put me on to it I was hype the whole time. The fight scenes was crazy.
Thanks to me using this RUclips channel since I made it as a kid your videos have been lost in my recommended. It's time for a binge
Enjoy the binge my friend :)
I hope yall watch "The Night Comes For Us" and "Headshot" there all Iko Uwais movies. (Great violence and gore) The Raid 2 is okay also
i was eating rice...almost choke with it...at the "WOW !" ...........BUILT DIFFERENT!...
This movie is amazing I love martial arts movies they put blood sweat and tears into they movies there are people doing their own stunts taking some hits the speed in which they move it’s like a cool ass dance if you love this one you’ll fall inlove with the second one all ima say is there is a girl with hammers 😌 keep it up love the channel and the movie choices you guys have taste
Whyyyyyy
@@zach4627 😂🤷🏾♀️
The raid 2 is even more 🔥🔥🔥
Someone already proposed it but THE NIGHT COMES FOR US really should be on your playlist to see...
The Night Comes For Us is one my top30 of the greatest movies of all Time (i ranked inly movies that i saw and ive probably seen more than most peoples will watch in their lives)...
people : **watches the raid**
The raid 2 : "I AM INEVITABLE"
Don't forget to see MERANTAU, first project iko uwais, yayan (mad dog) and gareth evans
Fun fact: Did you know that Yayan Ruhian, who plays Mad Dog here, is so skilled in Pencak Silat that he used to train the Indonesian secret service?
I clicked so fast and what a great reaction, can't wait for the second one!
Great reactions guys! You guys deserve more subscriber!
The guy who got his neck slammed on the broken door looked like Usher 😂😂😂
FUN FACT: 21:44 Joe Taslim (Jaka) is the same actor that played SUB ZERO in the recent Mortal Kombat movie
35:50 Aha! You’re feeling it too! The rush! The sudden urge to punch random people in the face
Come on, you'll know REZA at THE RAID 2 : BERANDAL.. lets gooooooo!!!
.
Next : 1. THE RAID 2 : BERANDAL
2. THE NIGHT COMES FOR US
3. HEADSHOT
🔥🔥🤟
The first guy who got killed by Mad dog, he's playing sub-zero in Mortal kombat movie. His name is Joe Taslim
The Night Comes for Us !!!!!!!
Really recommend "The night comes for us" such a good movie. On par with this one.
a great other movie you guys need to watch is city of god it's a brazil gangster movie
Another great foreign action film is "The Man from Nowhere" (2010).
Yes and "I saw the devil"
Next : the nigth comes for us
“Mad Dog” the Tasmanian Devil fight demon (yes, also in John Wick III..& he and his partner in JW III, were also in “Raid II” 2gether..U guys gotta check that one out..it goes outside..not just entirely inside one bldg..its friggn mor
insane than the first Raid)..was also the fight coordinator on the movie..Pretty dam cool 😎
Ooh fellas, the protector starring Tony Jaa all his own stunts🔥🔥🔥
Fun fact, the guys with machetes supposedly portrayed Ambonese people, one of local ethnic group in Indonesia. They're one of, if not the most brutal ethnic group in Indonesia. Don't get me wrong, they're nice people and have high sense of brotherhood, but you wouldn't want to tick them the wrong way. So yeah, one of them bringing a machete seeing a hallway like that would probably seems normal cause they can do it too.
Yes. Now look up Iko and watch all his movies. I'll be waiting
The fighting in this movie is a lot better than what was in the new Mortal Kombat movie it was a lot more Mortal Kombat than Mortal kombat ever was
Not hard to have better fighting than the mk movie lol. The choreo in this movie is years ahead of alot of martial arts films
Why Why Why Why?????
Im still at work bros. Now I know it exists, this is my FAVORITE action movie of ALL time. Raid 2 is even better.
Gareth Evans is a master. I am not ready for this reaction. At all.
For your personal viewing: Gangs of London. By Gareth Evans as well. Excellent 10 episode mini serie. No reaction needed. Just enjoy it.
You must watching all the raid movies.
So I logged out, went over to Putlocker to see what new movies have been uploaded and guess what I found? The 2022 follow-up movie to the tv series Wu Assassins, A Fistful Of Vengeance with the entire surviving cast from the tv show reprising their roles including Iko Uwais.
Thanks for all the great content keep up the good work! 💜💜💜
This movie is so good I wish they made a video game for it love the video guys stay motivated dream Big 1 Mill on the way
A raid video game would be dope, I keep thinking about it in a cod style, imagine each person is on a team and both team fight to survive and eliminate people in the building like in the movie haha. That’s just a crazy idea I had in my mind for a while haha
the Merantau. is one the best movie of the actor who play this and Mad dog
The person who’s in charge of the SWAT Team plays Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat movie
the Raid came first before judge dredd. and yes, it took inspiration from this movie.
One of the best action films of all time, great reaction and hope you two check out the second one
The martial arts they're using in this is silat. Its purpose is basically your opponent before they kill you. Very brutal.
The best martial arts flick EVER!!! Thank you for peeping this!
Silat is the martial arts form being used. Any movie starring Iko Uwais is gonna be brutal and amazing!
Pre-Covid an American remake was announced. Who knows if it’s still a go!
32:25, The clip may have been from Old Boy! Lol!!
Dude, Joe Taslim actually is The Sub Zero from the newest Mortal Kombat :D
If you look at the credit scene you can see a name, music score by mike shinoda
I never knew before that the one who work on all the sound in this movie is Mike Shinoda
Yo, Scott Adkins had the film maker and actors from this on his show, they said the choreography was shot with little rehearsal. Martial artists can remember long sequences like dancers do.
