      It's a conscious decision that there's no Oscar for stuntmen. There is already a whole lot of risks with stunts and a whole lot of accidents and the Oscars doesn't want to encourage that even more. I always thought the scene where they drag the bank vault through the streets in Fast and The Furious was CG. Mind blown.

    • @reapertheunique
      @reapertheunique 5 лет назад +35

      To be fair it _is_ unrealistic. What they are doing wouldn't work in real life obviously. A bank vault isn't made out of some thin steel plates and would require tremendous amounts of force to not only yank it out of the wall but also slide it across concreet. Not to mention all the times they would get stopped the moment the vault would hit the side of the road or those trees.

    I think part of the reason John Wick became one of my favorite movie franchises recently is because of how badass the stunts are, as well as all the details put into it. John doesn’t have infinite ammo either, especially noticeable in Chapter 2 when he’s given 7 rounds, you can count them out and after the 7th is fired, he starts beating the fuck outta people, taking THEIR guns, using them, then discarding them and taking another when the mag is empty. Great stuff. Didn’t notice the leg thing, either, that’s a fantastic detail

    This guy din't give the Raid's "floppy hand" any justice. There's a reason why they do that.
    What they used in Raid is Silat, the Malay form of martial arts and they tend to have alot of wavy movements in order to fake out opponent before landing a blow and by keeping their hands in motion, it's easier for a practitioner to counter or intercept a blow rather than just stay still and wait for the blow to come then move.
    In fact that kind of "constant movement" is present in almost every great martial artist. Look at Bruce Lee. He never stays still too and is constant swaying side by side before he does any kicks is because it gives him the momentum and also the quicker reaction to intercept or deal any blows rather than being stationary.
    Think of it this way... You and another person is in seperate but same model of cars. Both of you have the same goals of reaching 150mph 1st. You're stationary while your opponent has a headstart of driving at 10mph. When the race starts, of course your opponent would win because he had the inertia to reduce wheelspin and everyone knows "spinning ain't winning". Same thing goes to why those wavy hand syndrome is shown in The Raid and many other martial arts movies.
