After seeing this GREAT video, we invited her to come down and say hi at the Chickenfoot show in Santa Barbara. She had just graduated from high school days before and she has a promising career ahead of her! We snapped a few photos, too, which you can see on Facebook or Google+.
OmG! No backing tracks, no metronome, no sheet music. Girl, you've got one incredible memory. And you couldn't have picked a better musician to want to cover. Joe's one of the most soulful, articulate & technical guitarists I've ever seen. And to come anywhere close to capturing his vibe is to be commended. Bien fait! Bien fait!
Correct me if I'm wrong: just going of what I observe via the video of her performance; she appears to be blind. That said -- I've been playing guitar for 30 yrs. and I've got nothing on her. Her ability to tweak the synth to sound just like Joe's guitar for that song is killer in and of itself -- on the other hand, I don't know that I've ever come close to hitting that vibe/technique & with such pose and masterful execution on the guitar as she pulled off on a keyboard. Well done. Bravo girl. You seriously need to get this recoding off to Satch -- some how, some way. It was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. No exaggeration.
I think that Satch has not only heard it, but has also met Rachel after hearing it. She is one of the greatest musicians on the planet. Check out her Sound Cloud page if you are in any doubt.
Wow! That is the most challenging piece of music I have heard her play. Watching her does something good for my heart. I hope God gives Rachel 100 wonderful years with us.
11 - nitwits - See the joy on her face as she plays it. Every one from Joe to Vai say that you should imagine your self play to enjoy it -This lady is gifted. Standing ovation from me.. Cheers and thanks to Joe for bringing me to this page.
For everybody feeling sorry for themselves, remember that it is only your responsibility to live life to the fullest. If you don't feel something watching or listing to this, then you are already gone.
satch brought me here. this is fantastic! when you do it with your heart and soul, that's all that matters. nothing is impossible! god bless you Rachel!
No word !! Just amazing. I ve just discoverd this young woman and I cant believe what i can hear. She s certainly a genuis. I m sure WA Mozart could play like her if he was always here ! May Good keep alive this magic women for a long time !
24 people had the opportunity to witness amazing beautiful talent in the purest form but they blew it .Watching her joy as she plays is as compelling as her performance. The music breathes through her whole being.
Very well done! I always get chills watching people who step beyond what the world calls limitations and reaches levels of excellence! I would hope that those watching these videos would put the criticism (or diagnosis, as her mom calls it) and just drink in the effort and and be proud of her effort. I can only imagine how much practice Rachel has put in to achieve this and she should feel very good about herself. I think Sammy and Joe are class acts to recognize her skill and reach out...
As a guitar player of about 30 years and a Satriani fan for even longer...WOW! This is awesome! Her excitement is contagious. I'll be playing Satch all day now.
Very moving video. I always interpreted this solo as a nod to Allan holdsworth who did a nod to Coltrane, seeing her tap into the very soul of this tune means she has made a connection with those great artists and with us.
Jeanie...please express to Rachel how much she is admired and appreciated for her talent, fortitude and ability...her incorporation of her heart and soul into the music she plays is stunning and joyful to watch...as a musician myself, I can see in Rachel the true expression one feels when playing an instrument to music one loves. For the armchair doctor, you obviously don't attend much live performance...ALL musicians express themselves in some kind of vestibular expression during performance!
Oh. My. Good. God. She's so young too! The best is the obvious joy she feels in the music...I'm not blind but I understand her love and connection. So glad Joe knows of her- he's a great and very approachable guy. Good luck to Rachel and hugs for her mom- I KNOW you're doing a fabulous job!
That's an excellent keyboard sound. It sounds exactly like the album. Super kudos on keeping the timing so well without the drums and bass in the background. You're awesome!
this great performance shows how the lydian mode can give a "flying feeling" , it's over the Major mode. It's a trip, not on hearth but in the air, and it's quiet difficult to land on. "Flying in a blue dream" is my favorite song to play. respect Rachel
I discovered Satriani 28 years ago and to this day I haven't seen anything like this. The nuances captured flawlessly and the sound is stunning. I wish you success and happiness. Peace.
I made my way here only expecting a cool cover of a Satch tune; but this truly moved me. And after watching many other of her RUclips performances, I can't express how lucky I feel to have stumbled across such an incredibly gifted artist. Long Live Rachel Flowers!!!
Even thou of her blindism problem, she put a goal on her life and she made it! Most of us, people that can see what's going on the world must do the same as this girl, put a goal in our life and begin to love again! Keep on going Rachel, make your dreams come true and never stop believing God's power and gift for you
Joe, I've enjoyed your music for the last 20 years mate (I'm from Australia) and I love how you've moved this young lady with the emotions of this amazing piece!
I couldnt help but smile as I see this work of art in progress! Truly fascinating to watch and most of all hear those sounds coming from a keyboard! Great job!
Completely amazing! I'm in awe, Rachel, you sound fantastic! My favorite part is seeing your big smile....I can tell how happy this makes you. Love it!
Spectacular! I LOVE Rachel's enthusiasm! You can tell how much she loves playing that! So cool! So awesome! I am brought to tears, this is such an amazing rendition by an amazing player!
Rachel is terrific, I can't get enough. More videos please. Keep working with Dweezil, (I've had great experiences with him), and other other talented musicians and orchestras. Prog on.
Speechless.......... You exhibit so much radiance and positive energy. GOD less you even more! Hope we are all able to do at least 10% of what you just did.
By the end of the video, my jaw was like on the floor! I'm trying to perfect some REAL piano and I can't come close to match what you did with a GUITAR PART! Joe should SERIOUSLY have you on as a guest soloist on one of his concerts when they're in your area. Thanks for the awesome video!
What an amazing talent. Just heard her covers of Zappa's Inca Roads and Montana. Also Gentle Giant- Proclamation. Brilliant. Watching her play is so cool because you can see how she is enjoying it so much as she effortlessly plays.
I saw her on Montana and there was a comment that she played keyboards. I would have to say that yes, she plays keyboards. Sorry, she is AMAZIMG! And yes she brings tears to many people's eyes.
Thank you so much for posting this video Michael Thallium she is an amazing person and performer.. Ella es una maravilla! muchas gracias por subir el video te lo agradezco. Saludos
Fantastic and beautiful cause the essence of this song still emerges. This presents really adds something to make music in a special way. I am happy there.

thank you so much joe
The joy that paints her face when she hits the right notes is enchanting.
This is one of the most wonderful things I've seen and heard in years. . . wow. - the look of joy on her face. . . .
Her smile in the complicated parts made me melt. Not only does she know what she can do, but she's proud of it
Rachel Flowers is an inspiration to everyone! She is musically gifted.
It is as if she is channeling the music from her mind through the keyboard.
Truly great artists are able to show us what is in their mind.
Love her
No words can describe how perfect this performance was.

The smile on her face when she does the the first whammy dive priceless. Then around 4.47 the shred run oh ! man that's crazy good !
That's the most incredible thing I ever saw!
She shows what we think is impossible just might not be if you believe its possible!
I've loved & admired Rachel for years, but that run at 5:00 to 5:10 made my jaw drop! One wicked sequencer in that pretty little head!!!
Yeaaahhh!!!
For everybody feeling sorry for themselves, remember that it is only your responsibility to live life to the fullest.
If you don't feel something watching or listing to this, then you are already gone.
Hell yeah we are !❤️❤️❤️
She is just teasing us. She will go down in history as one of the greatest keyboard artists. Keith Emerson has a lot to answer for. (RIP)
She was personal friends with him and Greg Lake as well
RIP to whom man???
