I’ve been following Rachel’s life and playing for as long as she’s been on RUclips. This is the first time seeing these clips with Ray Charles. I’m continually blown away each time I see her play. I just sit trying to understand how it’s possible and all I can come up with is she’s a true miracle.
@@michaelcraig9449 I'm a prog fan, but that's apples and oranges. Those guys play prog to audiences who like a sense of grandeur and complexity in their performances. Ray was about soul, and not so tightly bound to European theory. It's a different kind of feeling that Wakeman and Emerson might have difficulty producing for an audience, and certainly not one that interested them as artists. It's not a competition. It's a matter of seeing to the needs of very different audiences, and the artists finding their own expression. I love and respect them all for what they did. Music isn't a competition.
At first I was like "wow this girl is so good wish I could do that" than half way through the video I realized she was blind and boy did my mind almost explode
"Now I am inspired", Ray said...... Rachel, you will always be an inspiration to me and thousands of other fans... I'm so honored to be working with you on our ELP projects.... You go girl!
@@justsingit72 Len you and the international collaboration were so good ...I really enjoyed your singing. It was mandatory listening for me at age 6! ELP... Some of that stuff was scary and traumatizing the images that would come to my mind...but well done..and thank you.
Just discovered Rachel today and had no idea she'd been playing since age 10. When you can impress Ray freaking Charles himself at such a young age, you know you've got it going on! She's truly blossomed since 2003 as both a full-grown woman and a full-fledged musician.
Old Ray understood the obstacles of being blind. And Rachel will always remember his kind words. He's gone. But she lives on. And Rachel too will pass the banner one day.
As someone who can see the keys and still doesn't know where they are (!), I am amazed by Rachel's spatial awareness. And great musicality, goes without saying.
When I was nine I was shipped off to Julliard, back then you could only work with pianos, I wanted to play synthesizers and organs I wanted to rock out! I did get to meet some major icons though. Bob Moog brought me a synthesizer and laughed you better keep this covered up. Then I was visited many times by Kieth Emerson. I know the thrill Rachel is feeling getting to work with all these people.
Even some sighted people cant even come close to how this young lady plays and composes tracks. Imagine closing your eyes and trying to play what she just did and do all the tracks from never seeing the music, and just listening to it from the radio or DVD. I am impressed how she has learned to navigate around the keyboard, and never or very very seldom makes a mistake and always on key and tempo. She is playing close to a level of a seasoned professional skill and has gotten better, listening to her latest videos. I think she also has the gift of perfect pitch and knows where every note is on the keyboard. Keep up great work with your talented music skills.
Gosh, this young musical angel is so incredibly talented. She has a gift that few have.No doubt about it.How many 10 year olds have you heard playing music so expertly?
Jeanie Flowers - I am sure your life has been tough - but know Rachel is a gift to us all. Thank-you for encouraging her. The fact she played with Ray Charles is all we need . Thank-you for this and for inspiring her.
What a heart warming video. Rachel is incredible. I'm not sure if Carl Palmer and her ever played together. But they should. What beautiful human being is she.
Claire deLune…..one of my favorite pieces by my favorite composer, played by an amazing young woman, listened to by one of my favorite musicians. My life feels complete……
17 people did not like the video, you people have no clue,or better yet no soul, this young lady has been blessed with an amazing talent that most people will never know,I wish that I could be so lucky, she is a truly talented little girl that I hope beats all of life's struggle,s that she runs into!
My 3rd Rachel video in 2 days and I'm still dealing with what to say? And now Ray Charles on the scene...?! Wonderfully touching. I think maybe we should put her in charge of things beyond music for a while. She brings a message from a higher power. We should listen & act accordingly.
As the old saying goes, when one door closes, another opens up. Rachel sees so much more than most sighted people will ever see in their lifetime ... and her being able to see this way at age ten ... just incredible ... Love this video. How kind and gentle Ray Charles is.
When it feels like the world is full of evil, sights like this show that there is truly still wonder and good out there. Ray and Keith are smiling somewhere out there in the cosmos. I truly appreciate that there are such virtuosic musicians like Rachel keeping this music alive. Mrs. Jeanie Flowers, please keep passing along our gratitude from the 'Tube. We are all rooting for her!
This girl, at that point in time, was talented. I've seen her more recent videos and she's beyond amazing NOW. This young lady has more than the spark of genius in music. She's a shooting star! I CAN'T get enough of her.
I don't know how many times I have watched this now but I always stop and watch it. Always inspirational each time as well as all your videos . Congrats on the second album!!! Thank You so much Jeanie for always sharing these great Rachel moments. This one and the Dweezil Zappa one were the first two I saw leading me to all the great ones you have posted. Best of luck with everything!!!
Rachel has such a beautiful and sweet soul and is an amazing talent - Truly a gift from the gods. Jeanie Flowers you must be so very very proud of her.
Jeanie, remember me? Was one of Rachael’s friends! Went to Carlton Oaks, and the conservatory over in West Hills! Now look at you guys! If ever there’s a show here in Southern California, please, let me know!
Jeanie Flowers tell her hi back! Been looking at your stuff over on FB, loving every second of it! If I may, I’d like to recommend somebody you should also work with. Another singer who I think she’d be great working hand in hand with. Her name is Tina La Rosa, and since Rachael is friends with me, she should be mutual. An aspiring singer.
Hi Miss Jeanie !! Thank You so much for being such a great mother, friend and guide to Rachel!! I was mesmerized by the talent of your daughter since the first time I've heard her. And of course, still am. If she is still passionate about playing the keyboards, may I suggest one great composer that she might like. He is, with K. Emerson, my favorite keyboard player. After Rachel, of course. Give it a try with Brian Auger. Mr. Auger is still alive and touring. I suggest the piece Straight Ahead (which has two solos in the song). She may like him, if she still likes playing some good keyboard works. Keep the passion and thanks for sharing so much !!
When he said, "Oh, Rachel, that was so beautiful," I teared up. What a compliment, coming from one of the greatest musicians who's ever lived.
She is way better than he ever was!

When Ray Charles says "I'm inspired," you've hit the right note.
She is way better, he was ok, but not the greatest at all. He sure was no Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman

Totally agree. A summit meeting.

Not only spatial awareness, but listen how she phrases that sax solo! That's where my jaw really dropped!

Such small hands yet so knowing. I didn't know Rachel got to meet Ray as well. You amaze a lot of people and you earned every bit, Rachel.
I would have loved hearing her finish Clair de lune, I love that piece. So soft, yet so powerful. But then again so empowering.
I agree whole heartedly...
This is FABULOUS! I just discovered this, after watching samples of her later work. Seeing her interact with Ray Charles... such a rich experience.
What a special moment for you Rachel - priceless memories.
I'm surprised there isn't more blind people that are amazing musicians.
Only God Almighty can create true angels to live amongst us. Rachel is one of them. Im in awe of his miraculous miracles.
