Thanks for the video. I am awaiting the remarkable 2. And this confirms why I went with the remarkable in the first place. I just want to take notes and doodle/draw. No distractions. Cheers!
I purchased the Note Air on the basis of your and Voya's reviews and haven't regretted it for a moment. Bought the Samsung pen to go along, another choice I'm happy with. Thanks for the in-depth work in your videos, it really helps to find your way in the somewhat chaotic world of e-paper note-taking devices.
Great content!! 😂 when I am convinced to get RM now Boox, this is driving me crazy... I have my iPad Pro but never got used to taking notes on ir. I wanted a device mainly for taking notes on meetings, preparing meetings, send memos, ... I use Evernote because for me it is important to tag and search because I write many things and I need a good searching system and a good file storing system... what do you think? I am worried about the learning curve if it is too hard I am not sure I will pass it ... thanks for the help!!
Interesting to see how different people perceive things, others (me included) really like the extra bit of freedom of being able to install apps from Google Play Store, and if one doesnt work once in a while, no problem. The big difference between this and the remarkable that almost everyone pointed out consistently is that pdf reading is so much better on this than the rm2, and the ebook reader is usually rated higher as well. That and the light (making it usable as a kindle replacement) made me get this one, although I'd had the rm2 on my wishlist for over a year... Overall, this is definitely the device for people who need to read a lot, especially if it's pdfs, and take notes (otherwise you could just get a reader). For me, that makes it a perfect productivity tool. Great experience so far, although I really wish they'd install that screen protector in the factory in a dust-free environment, it's impossible to get on without bubbles.
Today I had time to look at my new R2. I appreciate this video and I have the 30-day return option but... I love the lack of distraction on the R2, It's a revelation. Given that there is interoperability between the R2 and my PC, and that that I have other devices that cover the other small form factor computerized devices (Smartphone, Surface Pro) I'm really happy with the ReMarkable 2. In a year or so, the picture will change I'm sure. Thanks, Coach!
Ok, here's another one that I just remembered: since you've mentioned the issue of applying the screen protector, we usually clean camera lenses and sensors in the bathroom, like half an hour after the bath (just not right after, let the steam settle). The humidity helps to remove the dust in the air and reduces the probability of contamination. The same concept can be applied to apply screen protectors and avoid bubbles.
So far it is looking like a Boox product for my personal use. Being able to load the Kindle app and the search abilities with written text are are the selling points for me. I have the RM1 for work and I love it. Remarkble will need to add some functionality to keep up with the competition. Once a year of notes is amassed, I think the search function will be a necessity.
@@emceethatsme absolutely! I use it everyday in my case. I work with the Note Air, but it was the same with the Nova 2. This is even a bigger game changer than the backlight!!
@Ignacio Benito It's decent, as long as you buy a new stylus - the stylus that comes with it is really bad. I will do my 6 reasons to buy the rM2 tomorrow - as it is the better note-taker but is very feature limited.
@Ignacio Benito i don't know the experience with the rm2 but the note-taking capability of the BNA is better than I expected. Similar to @morningcoach I like the writing experience without the case. I connected the device with a wireless keyboard and I was able to type smoothly in Google Keep.
@Ignacio Benito yes! I was surprised about that. And what he’s saying is if you buy a better stylus, the experience would be better. I’m just using the one that came out of the box
Hi JB! This was a fun video to watch and you gave me an idea. When I come back to videos, I want to do a comparison on Instant Pot sizes and x amount of reasons to buy the 3qt vs. the 8qt. Wanted to say thank you for giving me that idea AND, thanks for the STAEDTLER. I saw it in one of your other videos and mine gets here Thursday. I went with the jumbo, though I love the idea of the wooden one, I wanted the jumbo for drawing because I'm always in Stetchbook and an eraser will be wonderful. Much thanks. PS: I'm Remarkable 2 batch 11. Hubby ordered it for me this weekend. I am a BIG TIME note taker and I am over the moon to get both the pencil and the tablet. Thanks for the work you do. Cheers and boogie boogie, Ivy.
You are going to love it - I am doing a video today later on the rM2 and reasons to buy it over the Onyx. The Jumbo is really super cool, made my day that I am helping, thank you!
Good show. My point is that the remarkable2 is nothing more than a notepad - very simple - nothing more. Personally - if I want lots of features....I'll buy the iPad Pro or ask Siri with no thinking.
iPad is not an e-ink device, so you cannot compare them.... i don't care about the google store but paying $400 for just a notepad dose not make alot of sense, you would at least expect it to be a good reader and pdf annotator... those are are distraction features as remarkable claim, in fact they are productivity features.
I agree, but the remarkable is missing some key features for what it's trying to be, split view for taking notes and reading documents at the same time, also, better pdf navigation like the onyx has, if it had that I wouldn't be so confused as to which to buy 😂
I am into focussed devices. Kindle Oasis (with light) for reading, Samsung Tab for browsing and apps, RM2 for uninterrupted notetaking. The only aspect I miss on the RM2 is your sixth point. Here is to hoping that someday the software of the RM2 will catch up with the possibilities.
The people who have lots of devices need not be worried about any features!!! But we must remember most of us in this world of scarce resources have only one option (either tab or e-ink). No luxuries!!!
@@akramhossain9576 I am of course in a privileged position but the Remarkable, being the focussed concept that it is, caters for a privileged market I'm afraid. The fact that it doesn't do or have everything is a plus in my privileged view.
I dont know if you will cover this tomorrow... the ability to email your notes from the RM directly from the page is a positive for me. Besides being able to easily share meeting notes with my team, I am also able to write personal notes to motivate and congratulate. Being able to just email the note is awesome. The Air has this quirky thing where it produces a QR code. You can work around it, but heightened productivity (in my humble opinion) requires less clicks.
Hey my man LOTS of positives for the RM - just start time is a huge one! That is great I didn't have that on the list but will make it a side note - awesome one - thanks!
It's very useful indeed, the browser + the reader with front light makes it a versatile device, I may even consider upgrading from my nova 2 since the screen is a little bit small to me
Hello, thanks for an informative video. I am thinking of buying note air soon. what are your thoughts on buying an android 10 device when android 11 is available in note air 2? Note air is currently offered on discount at good price so seems like a good option.
Hei man! you really disappoint rM users!!! Sorry, I am not blaming you. The 6 reasons you mentioned here, I cancelled my rM2 order for some of those advantages in Note Air. Actually, I didn't know about Onyx when I ordered rM21. But one downside, I would mention that Note Air is quite heavy in weight (more than I expected!)! One interesting feature I mentioned here in Air that you showed the typing on the keyboard, but you can also do it inversely, write with pen and it will automatically convert to type-writing. I am really really enjoying my Note Air. Happy that I cancelled rM2 order. My opinion is that rM2 is appropriate for those who already have a tablet (like yours' iPad Pro).
Hey hey, well today I do the 6 reasons to buy the rM2 over the Onyx hahahahah :) Thanks for the comment for sure and I am with you the work flow is what I use iPad and Onyx
As a Note Air owner, who used to read e-books on smartphone I can't emphasize high enough how ergonomic is to read the Air's front-lit screen in the dark.
I need to read academic literature from the library database using a web browser. I also have access to O'Reilly's library database and a Kindle account that can be accessed with an Android app. These are the reasons I got Onyx Boox Note Air - and I really like it! Taking notes while reading a book in a browser is not feasible though... for that, I need to either use Note Air's browser and a traditional notebook or a computer's browser and Note Air's notebook. I've used Note Air for reading and a traditional notebook for note-taking.
I wish Lamy would make a fountain pen stylus, maybe even with an actual flexible nib. If they could replicate the effortless-but-not-glassy feel of a fountain pen, that would be so amazing.
For a while it looked like we were *actually* going to have an overdose of that word (actually was said 20 times!). Glad you got it under control. Nice review as well!
I find that the native eBook reader on the Note Air works well; I also use the Kindle app. As an FYI, if you're reading an eBook and some text looks "washed out" depending on how the book was formatted you can change the settings in its native eBook reader app very easily.
Yes, I also use the kindle app for my buyed ebooks and kind of books I made up with Word, so in that files I have highlights I can't move to other app. So Starting to use the onyx device I could not see the highlights in the kindle store, but with little changes on the app optimize option I fixed it. It works pretty eell
I bought the Boox Air2 Plus because it is a great 'all-rounder'. An effective blend of functionality and usability. I see that influencers that compare the iPad to eReader/Note category of devices usually reach for the Boox Air as the 'representative' of the eReader/Note category. This is because Boox has the wide range of functionality required to make a meaningful comparison with the iPad. That said, the iPad does have more functionality, but it does not have the subtlety of the eReader/Note devices.
Great video. Can’t wait for you to compare it to the Note 3. I’m waiting for that before buying the Air. Why wouldn’t you just leave it in the fastest refresh mode?
Nice review! I actually love writing on the note air without the screen protector. And I even enjoy the precise note air pen, although the stadler works very well too. Now, this is my first e-ink device for writing, so I can't compare the Note Air to others. Within the work environment, I find myself using the device all day long to make quick updates to my daily plan and to take notes. (On the downside, I wasn't able to set up their email app, even with expert help, so I'm using the Gmail app instead.)
@@Nekotaku_TV Well that is an opinion HAHAHAH Hope you are having a great one, we have fun here, this is a community :) Hope you stick around for more, and yes I am more of a use case guy. My Deep Guide Voya is a reviewer. Have a good one :)
Hi JB, great video. Have you tried the split screen mode on the Note Air? I just received mine and look forward to that capability. Even with a smaller screen than the Lumi I think it’s a great option to have. One of the things I love most about this device is it can be as minimal or robust as the user needs it to be. All with only a minor decline in writing experience vs remarkable. I have the Lamy pen and remarkable nibs and love it. The whole concept of less distractions is genius marketing.
Hi JB, awesome video as always! The only reason, that would motivate me to order Onyx Boox, is the ability to search handwritten notes, because it's awesome feature. For other functions I have my phone or laptop. Let's pray that reMarkable will add this feature sometimes in future!
There is a handwriting app for note taking I have used on Android tablets called Noteshelf 2. I used it because it auto-syncs with Evernote. I wonder if anyone has tried it on the Note Air?
Really good couple of videos. Love the summary. I think you’d also say that the note taking and feel is better on rM2. Is it worth upgrading to the Lamy for my rM2. I write with a meisterstuck and am fearful that the pen will feel too slender. However, the Lamys seem to all have removable caps. That’s a bad thing in my world.
0:34 !! Dude !! you have the new Staedtler JUMBO! the others videos I've watched you had the Staedtler Noris Digital. What's the difference? it's better? or just the eraser?
I'm an engineering student and I would like an e-ink book to draw designs and take notes. I need something with accurate hand to note transfer and easy to use. What do you recommend?
Hey Conner - the accuracy of the hand transfer is not that great yet to be honest you may run into issues. Its coming but hard to recommend anything yet :) I will keep you posted if something blows me away.
@@morningcoach excellent! I'll wait for your review before I make my decision, thank you. Maybe you could possibly do a bit of a comparison between the 2? That would be really helpful
I think if you compare the note taking and reading pdf it's as easy to jump in like on the reMarkable. Shure some functions and apps that do more need also a little more work, especially your Keep workflow etc.
JB, great idea for a video! Let us know if you find a decent case. Reason 7 (for me) color notes. 8. Bluetooth headset and music or audio books. 9. Circles, Squares, Lines! 10. Gmail 11. Backlight AGAIN! 12. Search in PDF 13. NO JAGGIES! Lines are post processed and smoothed for you
Hey JB, great video! Apparently onyx is aware that the cover is terrible and they are designing a new one. The Noris jumbo seems great and you can use those magnetic sleeves for apple pencil on it and make it magnetic! :)
@@jans.7774 Actually what I saw was an answer on the amazon product page in which a customer was questioning why there was no free cover as a gift in the amazon store. They've answered him that the cover wasn't good and they are redesigning it. I searched again for this question and it has been deleted. However, on the boox page, they are now saying that a "Free gift Sticky pen holder will be delivered randomly from Nov 2,2020." Though I think they might have changed their minds...
I’ve bought this e-reader just for reading about two months ago and have tried to set it up. It’s impossible unless your a techie! So $400. Later and I’m back on my iPad. 🥺
Also anyone in Europe also not able to access the US boox cloud servers? When you are forced to use the Asia servers in Ireland all the free books are in Chinese.
Thank you. Boox products seem highly functional. Does the Boox Note Air offer split screen? Can a book's text be highlite; and then also copied to my notes?
Hi, I love your videos! While waiting for my rM2 to arrive, I am trying out the Note Air right now. I saw in one of your videos that you used the Note Air with a LAMY. I also tried that, but I am experiencing a lot of lag and jagged lines compared to using it with the Onyx pen. Is there any trick in setting it up?
I've tried the Supernote and Remarkable 2; the writing experience of the Remarkable is better, i think, to the Supernote. But, neither have backlights. That's a problem for me and a deterrent to even using them. So is the Onyx Boox Note Air Plus my most logical next one to try? thanks!!!
I personally am using NOW July 23 the Kindle Scribe - just did a video on it and also daily the Onyx Boox Tab Ultra - but it is expensive but like it :) Thanks for the kind comments.
@@morningcoach Thanks for the informative videos to the community! I'm really stuck on needing something that has a backlight. I'm 54 and even at the office, its not that bright, so i've become tired with the Remarkable and its lack of a light. I also don't like the continuous page feature of the Remarkable where my writing gets lost somewhere in the document that i can no longer see. Tempting to get the Kindle Scribe if it had the note taking functionality of these other brands. I'll look at your video and probably will grab the Boox. Great work --- and thanks again! Don
Yes, I am 54, too - the Onxy Tab X has both blue and Yellow you can change it. I have really enjoyed the device ONLY issue $900 device.... but it does perform. I use it for planning, notes, and reading. Actually, type on it too. Currently don't have any of the other devices but I like the 13.3 inches, just FYI.
@@morningcoach Thanks JB. I'll check out the Onxy Tab X; perhaps that's a better bet than the Air Note Plus. I really want something that i can see--whether its in broad daylight or at twilight or at in my office (cubicle to be honest) where there is low light. Something that i can use at high-level work meetings, but also journaling every day. I tried the Supernote AX6; too small; then the AX5; perfect size; but no light and a spongy feeling when writing. I kinda like the Remarkable 2, but the screen is dark and it does weird things with the pages when you write. I was at an embassy meeting today and i couldn't find the first half of notes i was writing. So now its likely a Boox decision--the Onyx Tab X or Note Air Plus. I'll let you know what i decide. best ,Don
Hi I am a writer and I am considering switching from ipad to onyx boox note air. The most important thing for my is only typing and google docs. Is google docs work fine with onyx? How is the bluetooth keyboard typing experience? Is the letter come out instantaneous or there is some noticeable lag?
hi JB, thanks for a great channel. I've been following you for a while now, I saw in a video that you have a daily planner / temple that you write in every day. Can you make a video about it and how we can make one ourselves? I got a little motivated after I saw yours, but can not find it now :) I am also waiting for my remarkeble2 in early December and will do something similar on it😀

Are the nibs changeable in the Lamy and the Staedtler stylus? Could I put the remarkable nibs in them? By the way, great video!! Looking forward to the one tomorrow! :)
Great video, it was really informative. I was thinking about the case, would it be possible to purchase some really thin magnet stickers? You could place them on the adhesive of the case, then the device would just stick to the magnets.
I own an Air and I think your suggestion is feasible! With the current sticker, it doesn't lose the stickiness even if you take the device off the case. But I think magnet stickers would be ideal :)
Hi there! I stumbled upon the following youtube video: ruclips.net/video/FzY4qn9Qd3c/видео.html Might want to check it out? looks possible to me if you want to put in the effort
Great video! You briefly showed your Kobo Forma. Can the Note Air completely replace the Kobo e-reader? You mentioned the quirk of the screen refresh in the Kobo app, but aside from that does using the Kobo app on the Air provide all the functionality of a Kobo ereader? I just bought a Kobo e-reader a few months ago, and now I am seriously tempted to replace it with a Note Air so that I can have all my reading material and note taking on a single device.
Coach - Do you think you can do a detailed video on which remarkable nibs fit on which pens? The RM nibs are the best and make the writing experience. I have the Staedler Noris Jumbo and the RM1 nibs do not fit in it. You have a lot of pens, I'd love to clearly see which pens fit which RM nibs. RUclips -- please comment if such a video would be helpful to you too!!
Great info. A quick question on the apps, Can you install Nebo note taking app on Note Air? Nebo is my favorite notes taking app because of its convert to text ability. If Nebo is available, I am in.
I found it in the Google Play store fo $9.99 the issue is I don't know if it will optimize for the device, some Google Play apps don't work great but YOU CAN install it FYI
My guess is it's not optimized for e ink or else it would be in the BooX so store. Few, if any, drawing apps are optimized at this time for e ink drawing. I don't know a single one.
The same really battery is not an issue on these devices. Note Air obviously a little worse for the light but not that noticeable E-ink is so low energy - thanks for asking!!.
Ok, I think the only one I wish reMarkable 2 had is searchable notes. I am allowed to use notes on some of my tests in college. But if it has a browser than that is a no no since you could search the internet for answers. My teachers said yes for a digital notebook that is just a replacement for paper and PDF is fine just internet access is not allowed. So reMarkable is what I need for my notes. :) Batch 5......It is a gift so I keep asking my boyfriend if the shipping has happened yet.
Note Air has enough reasons already :) 1. Various basic apps.(browser, etc.) 2. Able to use Google play store 3. front light 4. Support bluetooth 5. Dictionary 6. H/W CPU,RAM,Storage 7. 1~6 with satisfactory writing performance
HAHAHA I am not sure - but it is starting to get some love that is for sure. The light is really good, and I am so surprised by the browser its good. The real question will I keep this or the Lumi - thanks for the comment hehe
JB, you recommended the Staedtler Noris Jumbo. How about the RM2 stylus writing experience on the Note Air? Main reason for me asking is that the RM2 stylus is also magnetic similar to the stock stylus which is a feature I find useful. The RM2 stylus will definitely be pricey but would it be worth it on the Note Air?
I LOVE IT - I think the rM2 Marker and the Note Air are the perfect combination and the eraser works. Mine is stuck to my rM2 or would be stuck to the Note Air LOL
Thanks! Cool video. It confirms my choice in buying Rm2. 4 out of these 6 advantages are nice to have for me but not essential. 1 would be a disadvantage to have on Rm (hope they never put browser on Rm). 1 i hope Rm gets better is the reading experience.
HEHEH tomorrow I highlight the rM2 is is a different device for sure and trying to educate people on these things so they can make the right choice. Great comment thanks for being here.
I'm considering to buy one of those two devices. My main purpose is to use one of them to write everything I would for university. The rM2 sounds quite nice, but it can't do almost nothing for its high cost, but the onyx competitor seems almost perfect, since I want to be able to open PDF, download stuff direcly etc. On the other hand, I'm really not sure if I would want to spend so much money on any of these, and instead buy a cheaper, standard tablet (or keep doing my messy paper notations). Can you (or someone) give his/her honest opinion on how good it is for university usage (especially calculations, drawing diagrams, but also soft editing).
Hello MorningCoach ! This is definitely helpful thank you ! :) I have a question for you -> Does the remarkable 2 stylus (with the eraser) is working on Onyx BOOX Air ? As you, I really dislike their stylus.
Whoohooo actually some good news from Onyx: "We would like to inform you that your Note Air orders from our US and EU warehouse are shipped in transit to overseas warehouses. We will arrange delivery to your place once the packages arrive there. Thank you for your understanding and patience."
I got the BOOX Air but the pen sucks. What alternative pen would you recommend as an alternative that will not cause me an arm and a leg? I'm a student. I love this tablet coz it serves it's purpose well (annotating pdf's and writing). I use my Ipad for other tasks. Thanks in advance.

I can't find any third party cases/covers for the note air online. 40$+shipping seems a bit much for the Onyx Cover. Did anyone finde any other cases for the Boox Note Air?
Hi Coach, I'm wondering if you have found out a way of sending a note page to for eg an email account or onenote notebook? It's possible to export a note to an image file locally (not that useful) or share via a barcode that pushes the image to a web browser (cool but not that useful). I worry about having notes stored on only the onyx locally (even if synched to their cloud).
Very useful comparison. Thank you! Looking forward to the second part... Nevertheless, do you think it is redundant to own and use both devices? One for lack of distractions and creativity and the other for being connected and (regular) productivity... (Although having LUMI and RM2 might be a better combination) I am hopefully getting my RM2 next week, but I also think of buying an Onyx Boox device...
Alex I don't think it is redundant and YES if I keep one it will be the Lumi and the reason would be for reading PDF's I think the Lumi or iPad and rM2 makes a great combo. AND of course you could make any of them work - except the rM2 is very limited.
I just got a note air and the learning curve is driving me crazy. I also HATE the screen protector. Still, I’m going to give it a proper chance before I decide to return it.
Greetings from Brazil! I am a physics student and for me it is a big investment to buy this type of device. The main reason I'm interested is because this machine can make me avoid carrying heavy books or laptops and still do what I'm supposed to do as a student. Thanks!
How does the battery life compare between reMarkable 2 and the Note Air? Seem like the Note Air would be lacking on battery life with all those extra features.
Could you recommend any replacement for the stock stylus? Something you can actually buy (RM marker out of question) and has a bit more of paperlike feel.
Thank you very much for this review. Now I'm much closer to buy Onyx Boox Note Air over RM2. I can't find anywhere one information important to me. Does Lichess app or any other chess app work on Note Air? Would you be so kind and check it out in the free time? Cheers!
Tough one there - I guess it depends on you real use case I think the specs are better on the Note 3 I am not sure why Onyx launched them back to back almost competing products.
@@morningcoach In a recent live interview of the developers here in China, they said that the Note Air was created in the hope that it'd reach more customers with its new design and it's also more affordable, a very ambitious product indeed, whereas the Note 3 is the successor of the Note 2 for those who appreciate a more traditional form factor, and it's got slightly better specs (larger battery, more RAM, lighter weight). But together they provide more choices in the 10.3inch category for the customers.

Such a good idea!

I'm very satisfied with my Boox Note air. I bought it for reading, but i'm staying for the writing experience.
Andy - thanks man :) Fun video today
@Ignacio Benito It's decent, as long as you buy a new stylus - the stylus that comes with it is really bad. I will do my 6 reasons to buy the rM2 tomorrow - as it is the better note-taker but is very feature limited.
@Ignacio Benito i don't know the experience with the rm2 but the note-taking capability of the BNA is better than I expected. Similar to @morningcoach I like the writing experience without the case. I connected the device with a wireless keyboard and I was able to type smoothly in Google Keep.
@Ignacio Benito YES!
@Ignacio Benito yes! I was surprised about that. And what he’s saying is if you buy a better stylus, the experience would be better. I’m just using the one that came out of the box
Thanks a lot.Very usefull video.Looking forward for the next video with the pros of the remarkable2 over the NoteAir
Thank you!!!
@@TheHappyWhisk I have to learn about Instant Pots!!!!! Thank so much I will look into that - you rock!!!
Great comments as always Rod! Thanks
Try Solid Explorer file manager for Android. After you export your PNG, you can go right to at an email it from within Solid Explorer using Gmail
It's very useful indeed, the browser + the reader with front light makes it a versatile device, I may even consider upgrading from my nova 2 since the screen is a little bit small to me
Thanks Wail - it is small the Lumi is really cool
YES that light is AMAZING and the Max Lumi is still my number 1 PDF Reader :)
If remarkable was serious they would have a search function for notes as well. That’s an absolutely great feature!
Great video as always! Some great insight to the device. Anxiously waiting on mine. Hoping your video tomorrow won't make me regret my purchase. haha
HAHAHAHAH I have to show the good of both - they are totally different :) I am sure you will be rocking it when you get it!
Thanks I am 100% on board with this the native reader is really good - as is the web browser which is surprising..
I would be interested to know if anyone has ever put a comparison of all the different E Note tablets in a comparison table?
Fastest refresh mode degrades the quality of the text
Yes the quality doesn’t look good
@@morningcoach so when I write fast I’ll get a laggy refresh effect? That might be a deal breaker.
Thanks Karl for the comment - :) Helps with the channel!
It’s not a review...
Yes Andre - not bad but really small for me :)
Hi JB, awesome video as always! The only reason, that would motivate me to order Onyx Boox, is the ability to search handwritten notes, because it's awesome feature. For other functions I have my phone or laptop. Let's pray that reMarkable will add this feature sometimes in future!
Amy for sure - tomorrow I will give the reMarkable some love :) HEHEH
Searchable notes is what clinched it for me. Not being able to search my notes on the Remarkable 2 made me cancel by order.
Thanks Dean :)
Yeah the lamy is not bad you can run with it and give it a shot for sure. I think we may see some stylus is coming out soon which would be great
0:34 !! Dude !! you have the new Staedtler JUMBO! the others videos I've watched you had the Staedtler Noris Digital. What's the difference? it's better? or just the eraser?
Very good review, can you access one drive and documents on it on Note Air?
Still love my remarkable 2 over my boox device.
@@morningcoach Thank you for letting me know and thanks again for keeping me posted!
Can you connect the onyx note Air to a projector or a secondary display? And having color and use as a regular tablet?
Mine doesn't work with an USB-C to HDMI Adapter..
I think I'm going to either go with this onyx air or maybe the new likebook p10
David I’ll be opening up the likebook p10 Tomorrrow or at least this week and I’ll be shooting a video I just got one in
@@morningcoach excellent!
NO JAGGIES! Lines are post processed and smoothed for you
Love it Chipp thanks!
Good video but only 1 out of 6 for me and that is searchable notes. The rest would not make me look past the RM2
SJ yep tomorrow 6 reasons to buy the reMarkable 2 over the Onyx :)
Hey JB, great video! Apparently onyx is aware that the cover is terrible and they are designing a new one. The Noris jumbo seems great and you can use those magnetic sleeves for apple pencil on it and make it magnetic! :)
That is awesome - great ideas KIM you rock thanks for the great comment!
@@morningcoach Tks man, but to be fair, it wasn't my idea. I saw a guy on RUclips doing this. Just spreading the word!
Do you have any more info on the new cover? Thanks!

Does the Boox Note Air offer split screen? Can a book's text be highlite; and then also copied to my notes?
Yes BOOX products are awesome ONCE you get over the initial set up. They do a lot and that can be a bad thing. But overall really love the Note Air
Yes I like it too just got it from e-reader.ca here in Canada and learning how to use It take time Thank you for your video!
Hello all. For note taking, is the jagged line issue noticeable on rM2??
Hi, I love your videos! While waiting for my rM2 to arrive, I am trying out the Note Air right now. I saw in one of your videos that you used the Note Air with a LAMY. I also tried that, but I am experiencing a lot of lag and jagged lines compared to using it with the Onyx pen. Is there any trick in setting it up?
Have you recalibrated it? It's under Notes Settings.
@@annvoy7698 that did it. Thanks!

Hey hey yes it does :) Just tested it!
@@morningcoach Cheers JB 👍🏻
Have you tried the Hp pen. I heard it’s really good.
I'll let you know what i decide. best ,Don

1:24 I want to access my university website and download pdf's from there. And read research articles. Can I do that with a remarkable?
You know I don't think you can, you would have to download them to your device first.
My hand writing is terrible, too. So you are not alone. Great video.
Hi I am a writer and I am considering switching from ipad to onyx boox note air. The most important thing for my is only typing and google docs. Is google docs work fine with onyx? How is the bluetooth keyboard typing experience? Is the letter come out instantaneous or there is some noticeable lag?
Sarun it is NOT CLOSE to the iPad you are going to have lag, I am a writer too and I stick to the iPad :) Just FYI it is MUCH faster.
My kids would be asking if there was games on this. That's why I picked the Remarkable.

Thank you so much and YES they are great question!!!
Hi there! I stumbled upon the following youtube video: ruclips.net/video/FzY4qn9Qd3c/видео.html
Might want to check it out? looks possible to me if you want to put in the effort
Yes I will work on that one for sure - thanks!!!!!
@@morningcoach thanks coach! That would be very helpful for sure, I know many people are likely wondering this too. RM nibs are the best!
I don't know a single one.
what about battery of Note Air? RM2 lasts 2 weeks.
The same really battery is not an issue on these devices. Note Air obviously a little worse for the light but not that noticeable
E-ink is so low energy - thanks for asking!!.
Great review! I was wondering whether you could use the note air as a secondary monitor or use apps like screencast/spacedesk.. anyone tried yet?
Ok, I think the only one I wish reMarkable 2 had is searchable notes. I am allowed to use notes on some of my tests in college. But if it has a browser than that is a no no since you could search the internet for answers. My teachers said yes for a digital notebook that is just a replacement for paper and PDF is fine just internet access is not allowed. So reMarkable is what I need for my notes. :) Batch 5......It is a gift so I keep asking my boyfriend if the shipping has happened yet.
I agree - tomorrow we hit the advantages of the rM2 over the Onyx :)
Is this device ( Onyx) is better for eyes than traditional tablets?
Yes by far
@@morningcoach Thanks for the response!

1. Various basic apps.(browser, etc.)
2. Able to use Google play store
3. front light
4. Support bluetooth
5. Dictionary
6. H/W CPU,RAM,Storage
7. 1~6 with satisfactory writing performance

@@morningcoach Can't wait to find that out hahaha really looking forward to tomorrows video and to voya's deep guide on this device too!
Can you (or someone) give his/her honest opinion on how good it is for university usage (especially calculations, drawing diagrams, but also soft editing).
hey man, I'm in the same situation as you last year, what device did you go for and do you have any regrets?
hi Jimmy what is your opinion on the jagged lines issue on remarkable2? seems that the remarkable2 term will not fix it ..
Interesting for sure watched Voya's video on it. We will see on that one, but major concern.
Hello MorningCoach ! This is definitely helpful thank you ! :)
I have a question for you -> Does the remarkable 2 stylus (with the eraser) is working on Onyx BOOX Air ? As you, I really dislike their stylus.
Yes IT does go with the RM2 pen which is amazing or the Stadler it is good too - but looks like a pencil if you can handle that.
Whoohooo actually some good news from Onyx:
"We would like to inform you that your Note Air orders from our US and EU warehouse are shipped in transit to overseas warehouses. We will arrange delivery to your place once the packages arrive there. Thank you for your understanding and patience."

Do you know if the Pocket app or Instapaper works well on the Onyx boox? A few have already said the Kindle app works well.
Does Mycrosoft teams app work in it?
@MorningCoach - Sorry to bug you, but is that the RM1 or RM2 nib you are using in the Staedler?
Not bugging at all I am using the rM2 nib I love it, on the Note Air I use the Staedler :) Or Lamy
John that was ME the exact same thing, it can be so frustrating!!!
according to boox the screen protector is optional. without or with, 2 feelings to choose, not mandatory

How does the battery life compare between reMarkable 2 and the Note Air? Seem like the Note Air would be lacking on battery life with all those extra features.
Could you recommend any replacement for the stock stylus? Something you can actually buy (RM marker out of question) and has a bit more of paperlike feel.
Thanks. Now I don’t know which to buy!

Can the onyx box run Microsoft 365 office apps, word excel, ppt and teams. Can you put notes directly in teams?
Hey JB, is the onyx box note air compatible with Microsoft onedrive?
I will check for you :) Thanks
Yes it is
Thank you very much for this review. Now I'm much closer to buy Onyx Boox Note Air over RM2. I can't find anywhere one information important to me. Does Lichess app or any other chess app work on Note Air? Would you be so kind and check it out in the free time? Cheers!
One more reason: they don't ship RM worldwide... Thank you for the video!
Thank you for the comment
Which is better, BOOX Note3 or BOOX Note Air?? Please give me advice!!!!
@@allenc4731 WOW Allen - thank so much for the share - really awesome info - THANK YOU!
I owe you a subscription for such useful video! For a long time, I have had many doubts about reading many PDFS, and educating myself that way.
I know it almost has nothing to do with this video, but on Ebay, I found Remarkable 2 more costly than Onyx Note Air...
Besides
