    On one hand I am so happy to see the company is not afraid to evolve and move on from tried and true tech. That said as a legacy customer I love the desmo vavles, the dry clutch tambourine sound, the rattle, its the character that draws you in and makes you feel like you own something unique with character and passion, imperfect foible and unmistakable. But truly for any company to survive being just a relic they have to pursue tech and solutions to known problems. What scares people away? Sure the maint cost is the #1 reason people choose a BMW or Honda, this levels the playing field and puts you on Italy's finest with much more peace of mind. I for one will line up to test ride it, and applaud their efforts and forward thinking, but I shed a tear for the past because I know why I love Ducati, and I hope this brings them more success.

      I agree with you, i got a mixed feeling here. Having a Multi 1000DS i can't blame Ducati in trying new things obviously. My main question is what it means for Ducati in the next years. Will we see smooth engine like that on all models ? I guess not on the next five years, but in 10 ? Well, i will keep my classic Duc in my garage for sure !

      @@ducati we already love the New Ducati. Why? Its a Ducati. The enduro I own today is my fourth Ducati in a row. Last year made a 10k trip in 5 weeks time on and off road. The enduro fully packed with gear and it did its job perfect. Its a beast, much better I can drive it to its full capacity. But.....for this offroad trip I needed a lighter bike. Desert sled type of bike. But....with a bigger fuel tank, maybe 21 inch front wheel and a bigger screen for more protection against Rain and snow with a weight around 180 kg wet. Make it half the price of an enduro and you have a worldwide winner.

    10 anni fa quando avevo una giap i ducatisti mi decantavano tutti i pregi della ducati... Frizione a secco, telaio, bicilindrico desmo ecc... Ora che ho ducati parecchi ducatisti esaltano la nuova linea motoristica intrapresa dalla ducati che rende le proprie moto praticamente delle giap tirando fuori sempre la supercazzola che bisogna progredire! Ricordatevi che in progresso non è sempre sinonimo di miglioria, soprattutto se stravolgi completamente la tua filosofia! A questo punto se uno deve spendere di più per una giap ricarrozzata ducati, si compra una giap!

    Stick it in a roadster - not (only) a monster, streetfighter or strada - but Ducati's equivalent of a speed twin or r1250r. Just keep it light, comfortable, space for some (but not massive) luggage and a tank range of well over 160 miles. A true GT.

    • @Dinara1up
      @Dinara1up 3 года назад

      nah, i think the sports bikes should always stick with the desmo system and dry clutch. That what makes Ducati special. In this case, for a touring bike, sure it was a smart idea to go with springs to increase the service interval.. but for their sports bikes, it should stay unique.

    • @haroldscott9525
      @haroldscott9525 3 года назад

      @@Dinara1up not sure why you're bringing up the dry clutch because all Ducati V4 motors and almost all of their V-twins use wet clutches now. And I'm not saying this Gran Turismo motor would be better in the streetfighter because of the service interval, I just think that the increased low end and midrange makes more sense for a naked bike like the streetfighter instead of 200+ HP up top.

    Desmo valves are the sole reason Ducati’s have a distinctive sound and power delivery. You simply cannot attain a high lift and *long* duration cam profile without Desmo valves. This is why the V2 Multi is only 10hp less than the V4 Multi. I’m fine with the 18,000 mile intervals on the current Desmo Multistrada.

      Moto.it lo dice chiaramente: La nuova distribuzione prevede un sistema di richiamo delle valvole a molla e non più desmodromico.

    It all seems fantastic but I don't like the elimination of the Desmodromic valve operation,I appreciate it's for huge service intervals and quiet running but this seems like a step too far away from Ducati's core characteristics,I'm sure it's a fantastic engine/bike,okay dry clutches have their place and steel tubular frames maybe have limitations but people,myself included,don't buy Ducati's for generic features that can be found on any mass produced motorcycle.

      They are a company brother not charitable organisation who will carry forward their values. All these years of existence Ducati still don't have a market size they should actually have. What do you think is the reason? Too much unreliability, expensive & frequent Maintainance, higher costs of parts etc. One have to acknowledge that enthusiasts can't make a company survive. Mass market will. Thats what Japanese brand were doing for years and The Japanese 4 have captured markets all over the world even in Europe. BMW first to fell and now Ducati... "Legacy, Ethos, Core values" etc are very sweet to listen but of no use if they lossing market share and difficult to thrive. If they can attract more buyers that would be a great. Cause I personally I fan of Ducatis design & looks.
