One of many different titles based on Steven Spielberg's 1993 dinosaur thriller, the version for NES and Game Boy is a top-down action game with exploration elements.
Playing as Dr. Alan Grant, the player must work through six levels by completing certain objectives including rescuing the kids Tim and Lex, restoring power, destroying Raptor nests and finally getting off the dinosaur-infested island. To advance in a level, a number of dinosaur eggs scattered over the area must be collected or destroyed. This will reveal a passcard used to gain entry to buildings, or some other items necessary to complete the assignment. The park's computer terminals can be used to request hints on where to go next.
Naturally, the levels are full of hostile dinosaurs. Dr. Grant can fend them off with his gun. Several ammunition types are available, varying in damage and shooting patterns. Killed dinosaurs will always drop the most basic ammo type, the others must be found. Next to ammo clips, there are boxes with question marks on them to be collected. These might include beneficial powerups like a health increase, but can also be dangerous and reveal a bomb.
Some levels end in boss encounters, including a Triceratops stampede and a fight against the Tyrannosaurus Rex. -

The music rocks in the NES version! Funky 8-bit 90's beats!
John Welch the full Games on Snes have wonderful vaporwave music
So the hardware comparison is?
The game is actually closer to the book, than to the movie. The river, the t-Rex next to the river, the volcanic area, the boat. It’s all in the book as I remember. Been some time.
This game was almost like survival horror to me...Like the first Resident Evil.
-Can run out of ammo very quickly and there's not a shitload.
-Only a few hits until you're dead.
-Varied enemies don't exist.
-Great controls don't exist
-Reading, lol.
This is one of the most underrated games on nes.
Cause by that time 32 bit cd games were (t)here.
I love this game and my favorite are the Raptors. When I used to play this game (so want this game again!), I tried NOT to kill the Raptors unless it was absolutely necessary...and I mean ABSOLUTELY necessary. The compies were annoying because they were small and certain weapons were needed to pick them off at certain levels. But, I fell in love with the Raptors that I hated killing those I had to kill to advance in the game.
I doubt you'll see this, but you know what would be cool? To have a killing limit. Nothing too complicated to accomplish, but to try to not kill every dinosaur you find and try instead to outmaneuver them.
@@Mike14264 lol that’s right something to make the game even harder… 🙄😭 what it desperately needed was passwords.
@@benjames6238 not even passwords, the game is short enough to be played in one sitting just fine...
It just didn't need trial and error bosses, and surprise bombs disguised as health pickups. Otherwise, I did beat the game just fine!
I loved this game
menn please tell me ... do yo know how i can play this game in my windows 7 professional ??? pleasee

I remember seeing the movie back in 1993 when I young, the part when the t Rex ate man on toilet creeped me out.
last time i played i was always stuck at lvl 3.
me too
Jon Jon Joni Dipp Hey same here!! ha ha a
I grew up on the GameBoy version of this game, never knowing there was an NES version. It was very interesting comparing the differences, for instance, at the end of the 2nd level, instead of fighting the T-Rex you lead Lex through to the exit and stand still when the T-Rex comes. When restoring the power, the terminal sequence is also different. I don't remember if you face a T-Rex at the end of level 6. Still, very similar game, almost exactly identical with a few key differences. Loved it :)
I love that part of this game when they find dinosaurs and can't believe their eyes that the dinosaurs ARE REAL! ALso the part when the triceratops is sick and they have to feed it medicine so it gets all better now. Those parts are my two favorite parts of this game to play before bed time. (8-8:30pm)
I think this and Rambo 3 are underrated
@Karnashuk
Yeah, but saw hundreds of people asking the same thing, so I thought, let's go for it ^^.
You can always go to rom sites as long as you have Java and give it a try there. They got no saves, but that shouldn't be a problem. It's true that the point of the game isn't trying to follow the novel or movie to the script, but the point of the game is to be fun. If it's fun as hell to play, it really shouldn't matter. I'd highly recommend the Game Boy version too, it's pretty much the same deal with a few key differences which are very minor :)
I can't get past the T-Rex bit and the kid keeps getting eaten.
Veliciraptor was pain in the ass😭😂
@Nemesis311283 Early 90's. The movie came out in 1993 so this would've been out when the movie was still out too.
The music sounds like a c64 game
Never got passed the trex in level 2
I wish I could make something like that.
...the T-Rex follows you everywhere and I have never been able to defeat it because it keeps killing me. I've only played the Game Boy version a couple times. Mostly, I play the NES version because it's easier (most of the time).
Tell me about it :D
Ahh,,,another movie license that has content which has nothing to do with the movie ...
save states...
What we have here is another lame, dime-a-dozen action title on the NES that cashed in on uninformed gamers by exploiting its profitable movie license.
Thanks to finish this game, i think i never see the last part.
I played this game almost... 20 years ago. :D And when I see it and hear that soundtrack - jeez, can't forget something like that.
:O nunca pude terminarlo. Aqui estan mis juegos de la infancia :')
TuT
I had no idea this was on the NES. I played the SNES version and loved that one. This one looks impressive for the NES.
You said it. Impressive. They took advantage of every bit of technology to make this game look and work as fluid as it does. This ms,ve been towards the end of NES era. Just compare the first games on that console to thzt one. It almost looks as good as a snes game. i am wowed.
@rej72380 :NO, because SNES version is already recorded by somebody else :)
I love this game and the music is awesome.
***** same hare, thanks! 👍
Why don't you 2 Mary it then.
It’s good lol can finally beat it as an adult with Save state. Hahaha.
The game looks like a pretty good time! If it wasn't for the Mystery Boxes of (Mis)Fortune, I'd say it's pretty fair.
Edit: Nevermind, the bosses where you have to deal with those stupid kids suck a bit more than they should.
Especially the T-Rex boss, where Lex just seems to go wherever the hell she wants, which 99% of the time is right into the T-Rex's jaws. She might as well yeet herself into its belly.
@@SRGIProductions the last one is especially painful, because now there's 2 kids ta deal with! Pain, and not fun, lemme tell ya that.
I never got past the T rex fight. Lex's fucking delay on her movements would result in my loss every single time.
Legion Beast same
great classic of nes
The music on the first level... Isnt that from a amiga-demo?
It is a cover of the Comic Bakery C64 loader tune.
Ahh.. Comic Bakery it is, so true! *kicking myself not being able to connect the dots*
Yeah it must of also been! I never had a C64 (had an Amiga though)and it's really familiar to me.
The triceratops part reminds me of Guitar Hero..
Age 3 and 4, 1992, 93 ish, this was my shit!!!! This batman, D.Tracy( cant say the name it gets blocked on youtube) Bart Vs The World, Ninja Turtles, wish i had rpg games tho man i woulda loved those best.
This is such a badass, but unappreciated game. But not anymore! I'm working on a remastered version of this game, that will feature more dinosaurs, locations, and many other stuff! If you guys are interested, follow the discord link on my channel to help us and also see our progress! We are in need of sprite artists and music composers, so if you are interested, hop on! See ya soon!
I had the Gameboy version and its interesting to see they practically are the same game as this one (just lack of color). I didn't recall it being on nes but remember it on SNES back then. Pretty cool!
In what conditions this was made?
Fuck, they even use Mario-kinda sound efects
Music is fantastic in this.
Holy F*cking Sh*t! It's a dinosaur! J*sus Chr*st! What the F*ck?!
The only good Jurassic Park game until Lost World on PS1. Love this game and the music is awesome.
MARNY The Snes one us wonderful. the Snes os the true Games. nes version is just a lower version of it
sega kicks ass nes!
im being serious are you playing smokey bear with a silly gun
i love Jurassic park
really? cause i see dinosaurs and i see mr dna on the computer, he was on that little cartoon at the start of the tour. true that dr.grant didnt walk through Jurassic Park with a bazooka, but it does have SOME reference... not to mention it should get merit points for not being a pile of crap like most movie to game transitions :P
I saw the Kenner Toys logo at the end, and scattered around in the SNES version. Did Kenner actually have involvement with this, and the SNES port of this game, or was it merely a marketing thing?
oh i see, well we was basing our convo over the movie specs and not the book. tbh i never been much of a reader so its nice someone pointed that out, so how accurate would you say it is based off the novel?
When I was 8 yrs old, the movie didn't even come out and my dad brought this game to me from México, I didn't understand a thing and since I didn't speak english at all, I've never past the third level. But I loved the music.
But yeah man, I totally understand. If it's gonna really get you stressed out to that point, then I'd stay away from that. If you still have a desire to get better at the levels, then I'd just play a stampede every now and again until you take a hit then skip. Hopefully that won't stress you out too badly, but if it does, then ignore what I just said. I got high-functioning Aspergers which is a form of Autism, so I can totally relate in a way :)
Ooo that really sucks man. I don't really get mad with games easy, unless I feel the game is being cheap. Like if a controller is making moving a character a pain in the ass and pressing buttons that I'm not pressing, going directions I've barely tapped or not pressing. That's the kind of stuff that gets me irritated if it keeps going on. Other than that, I laugh at most of when I'm being stupid.
I'm not sure if I have the patience to keep trying while taking hits in either stampede level. I have issues that I haven't told you yet. One of them is I have zero (or almost zero) tolerance to anything that causes me stress. Getting repeatedly hit by dinosaurs (except the Raptors...I love them too much) causes me stress, though that's nothing compared to other things outside of playing games. It's a long story, my friend.
In the Game Boy version, it's even harder because the screen size is so small and the play area is larger where you can't see a stampeding Triceratops until it's only a few inches away. Now, I've never made it to the second stampede level in the Game Boy version (farthest I got to was Level 3 before it froze on me [using VirtualNES online]), but if it's anything like the NES version, it would be impossible to outmaneuver a running Trike when it's a split second away from crushing me.
It actually is possible to do the 2nd stampede without getting hit, you just gotta pay attention and move your ass as soon as you have any room to do so. However, I'd wait until you improve on the game before you try practicing that level. Then again you could always use the Level Skip code to practice those parts in particular, just a suggestion there if you're really struggling. As a rule of thumb, I mainly keep near the bottom center, behind the rock usually so i got more time to react.
I'm sorry. My position was wrong. It's not directly at where the number of bullets displays. It's just slightly below that, though the number should cover their heads. Tim is sometimes a pain in the rear end when you're trying to turn one way and a Triceratops is inches away from crushing you...and then, Tim gets crushed. I've had that happen to me enough times that I simply skip both stampede levels (the second one because they're too fast to maneuver around them).
Yeah trust me man, the NES version can be a pain if you're not used to the fast dinos and stampede and boss encounters. The T-Rex part especially because simply letting the kid getting eaten and cheaply losing a life over that, as well as restarting the fight. The Game Boy version isn't any easier either, as it has its own cheap spots. The electric room, the grills and bolts kill you in 1 hit, but they move slower. I totally feel ya, gameplay isn't the best, but nothing's ever perfect :)
How did you make it to Level 3 without killing any of the dinosaurs (except T-Rex)? It's impossible to get through the Raptor Pen without killing any of them. I've tried, but there are too many that come right at you. I give you props for not killing them in the pen. By the way, the Game Boy version is much more difficult when trying to defeat the T-Rex. There's a spot you can stay at with the NES version and it won't get you or Lex. But, in the Game Boy version... continued
Yeah, cuz in the first level you only deal with 4 raptors, which are all alone. You got plenty of space to move in, so it's not too bad. In level 2, you got that pen that's swarming with like 7 raptors in that area alone, some paired. You seriously gotta have a death wish running through that with no ammo. Level 3 has the forest area which is packed with raptors and in tight corners too. I think I only made it to Level 3 without shooting/killing any dinos, the T-Rex being an exception.
I do agree with you though, compies can really be a pain in the ass to get around when you don't have much space to work with, even in the Game Boy version where the raptors and dinos are slower and a bit more stupid. I actually did try a no ammo run just for the hell of it and I think for the NES you'd have to kill some raptors cuz they're too fast and smart to get around in numbers and tight corners. I haven't confirmed it officially but I'm gonna keep experimenting :)
The thing though with compies is you can lure them a certain direction and maneuver around them if you know what you're doing. Raptors are unpredictable and will chase you across the screen persistently and do the most damage, other than the 1 hit kill dinos. The spitters aka dilophosaurus you can get past if you're fast. The raptors are by far the most annoying in numbers. There are technically only a few tight spots you can't get past the compy without shooting it, like on the boat Level 5
The compies (especially the fast-moving ones) are the most annoying dinosaurs in this game because they usually outnumber and corner the player when he's trying to get past them. Spitters are not too bad, unless there are more than one at a time. Most of the other dinosaurs are not much of a problem. And, Raptors are my favorite of them all. I wish there was a way to beat the game without killing them. It's unfortunate that some have to be killed to win. ;(
It is possible to beat the first level without killing any of the Raptors, although you may get hit by one or two in certain areas. But, there are Mystery boxes than can restore health if you take any hits from Raptors (unless they take all of your health). I try to keep Raptor deaths down to a minimum and only kill those that are directly in my path or are attacking me.
I would highly recommend giving it a shot. It may not look like much but trust me it's easy to play and get into. If the NES proves a bit challenging for you, just give the Game Boy port a shot. It's the same game with a few minor differences. I know that game inside and out and even did an LP on it if you ever get stuck and wanna actually beat it :)
On the bright side though, the electric bolts moved slower and were easier to avoid, the NES ones move so fast, it almost looks like it's impossible to get through without getting at least once by the bolts. Still though, the thought you could lose a life from those stupid things made the level really nerve racking. Ended several of my runs before I finally beat this.
It's probably just a matter of personal preference since the only real differences are the terminal sequences for Level 3 and the bosses and an additional stampede, as well as some damage differences from touching enemies. I know that because I grew up with the Game Boy version, so transitioning to the NES wasn't too hard at all
I could see how that works, everytime you let Tim get crushed or you get crushed, your awesome meter aka life meter goes down. You get 10 points for missing a triceratops. Only difference is you have 3 lives or how many you have at that point and you don't get booed off stage. I like the way you think man :)
Here's the bright side though, at least you don't have to touch Tim again to get him to follow you when he gets crushed. As for playing it online, I use retrouprising and emuparadise, they run very smoothly without any problem for both Game Boy and NES.
The only problem with using RUclips for walkthroughs on retro games is when you see it, the video creates the illusion like it's easy. Yet, just try picking up an NES or Genesis controller and you'll instantly realize, it's much harder to do than it looks.
you need to collect those eggs until all are collected the last one gives you a door card to get in
To be honest, I never heard of retrouprising. And, I'm not familiar with using emuparadise. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm so used to using VirtualNES that the other ones seem unfamiliar to me.
even though the nes has more parts than the game boy, at least the electric traps don't take a whole life when you touch them, unlike the game boy version.
cool, though im not saying its super mario world or any such you would hold in high regard... but hoo boy, i have seen MUCH worse lol
This game was hard as fuck... this dude made it look easy.
Dude well played! (y)
The music in this game is so cool
I think those "baby raptors" are actually compys, dinos that are small as chickens
@ThatRipOff So true. It's not just the games though. It's RUclips. =) No challenge in going and finding the easiest way to doing it.
Love 8 bit adventures I wish people would create new 8 bit games that last for tons of hours and require days to beat.
i remember playing this and being scared to go into the buildings because it was dark. and the fucking t rex scared me too.
How are u even uploading so quickly with so much content on 1 day u post 2 full games some are An hour and a half and still mangages to do so whats ur secrect
Why the heck did Lex think that the T-Rex enclosure was a good place to hide!?
Lol, love this game!
Its epic :')
I'm well aware of those sites, but I collect games so I will buy it at some point anyway, good or bad.
Damn fuck that T-Rex level I've never been able to get past that. Fucker eats me Everytime!
What helps me is to stand in a spot just below (or halfway behind) the number of ammo you have (near the upper left corner of the screen). Then, wait for the T-Rex to pass by before shooting at it. I could stand there for hours and the T-Rex would *NEVER* get me. It makes very predictable movements and repeats the same movements every time. Make sure Lex (or both children, if playing the last level) follows you there first before staying in that spot. If you time it just right, the delay with Lex (and Tim in the last level) will cause her to run to that spot just after the T-Rex's first initial attack. It's actually much easier than it seems and certainly *MUCH* easier than what the person controlling Grant does in this video during the T-Rex levels.
@fringeelements My only hope is that we can provide a safe place for you to come out and be yourself.
Those raptors are slow
for some reason the version of Game boy it's better and the music is of the best OST I ever heard
How do you get through a door?! I tried every single button combination and I didn't get in
Thanks for the memories.
El mejor juego que jugue en mi vida

Tenia este juego cuando era pequeña y nunca me lo pase, o no lo entendia. No recuerdo.
Listen to "inrudiment - jurassic park (level 1)".
Best game though Survival😍
Nice playthrough, but god damn that last bit was so damn tedious!
