I have the same iPad as yours minus the cellular. I don't use it daily but I should be. I mostly use it for Nomad Sculpt and love the Apple Pencil hover feature. I've never noticed the blooming effect but in general it doesn't really bother me if I do see it. I don't have a keyboard case and do want a Magic Keyboard someday. Right now I have a USBC dock that I plug in that gives me access to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I do want to run macOS software on it though.

I’m still on my m1 iPad Pro 12.9 , I’ve had it over 16 months and absolutely love it. For the fun of it I got my battery checked at Apple , and it’s around at 89% capacity. Best iPad I’ve ever owned. But when the next pro iPad comes out I’ll probably change it as I use my iPads a whole lot. Great video Aaron.

I completely replaced my MacBook Air M1 1TB with Ipad 12.9 Pro M1 1TB model with magic keyboard ...i don't even open MBA now anymore since Lumia is working perfect with my GoPro 5k and Drone 4k footage, also workflow combination with touchscreen...using pen and magic keyboard is just MAGIC! :) I agree that some small details on heavier usage would make difference but I don't come across that almost never..cheers!

I use a 4th generation iPad Pro 12.9” from 2020 with the A12Z Bionic chip, and I love it! I know it might not be near as fast as the M1 or M2 versions, but for what I use it for, it’s still plenty fast. I mostly use it for displaying music for teaching lessons and going to rehearsals, however I do also use it for personal entertainment as well. I have the 2nd generation Apple Pencil and the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio to go with it. I’ve thought about getting the Magic Keyboard so I could take advantage of the Track Pad and backlit keys, but I just found that it adds too much bulk and weight for my taste. I’m planning on keeping it for as long as Apple regularly supports it with iPadOS updates. Thanks for the videos Aaron!

Bought the Ipad Pro 11’’ last November and still am very happy with it. It’s so great to do stuff on it. Gaming, schoolstuff, media consumption etc. I love to have a good one for a long time. And this Ipad is perfect for me.

  • @dxl5058

I use the model reviewed, minus cellular. The biggest difference from my previous 10.5 inch iPad Pro is the extra numeric row on the onscreen keyboard. This makes the typing experience more like a laptop and obviates the need for a Magic Keyboard. The Smart Folio cover is neat but absurdly expensive. Battery life is acceptable but only because the USB-C port provides fast charging. It would be difficult to justify an iPad Pro 12.9 inch as a media consumption device, but oh that ecosystem is so seductive!

I upgraded from the 12.9 Pro 4th gen to the the 11 Pro M2 iPad. I edit photos & video on it, and enjoy the size reduction. When I need to go larger, I just plug it in to a monitor, and use an external keyboard & mouse.

    • @brianode11
      @brianode11 Год назад +1

@@Mickthetechnerd Personal opinion: go for an M1 or M2 iPad Pro. I had the 12.9 4th gen model and it started to slow down when editing photos in Lightroom, especially when using the masking tools. My new M2 iPad Pro is just much faster and smoother. The 12.9 was too heavy & large for my use, because the point of the iPad, for me, was to edit and stream content on the go (on the couch, etc). The 11 inch just feels good in my hands.

I still use the 12.9" iPad Pro from 2018 and it's still going strong. I've had it since launch day after upgrading from an iPad Air 2, and have had no issues with it at all, except for battery life which is expected after using it for almost 5 years. Not a single one of the new iPad Pro models over the years have made me want to upgrade it, and the iPad just feels like it's gotten to a peak in terms of hardware at this point. I definitely would love to see some more software enhancements, though, such as Final Cut Pro etc, as the software on iPad has always been limiting and underutilising the iPad's overpowered hardware for years. Fingers crossed for WWDC23! 🤞

My father in law is still using the 10.5”iPad Pro and it still works well for him. That has been supported for the past 7 yrs I believe. Still works good. Better yet, why are the swipes on the magic keyboard backwards? For instance, when using spark or apple email, a swipe left should invoke the delete function. However, it does not. Its reversed on the magic keyboard. You would need to swipe right. If you turn on natural scrolling, the functions, the swipes work as expected. However, The same functionality works without needing to turn on natural scrolling on the apple magic trackpad when using a Mac.

Agree, 11 is perfect for what the iPad Pro is designed for. Able to hand hold to takes notes, watch videos but still large enough to have a keyboard connected and do work. I do wish it was a tiny bit bigger 11-11.5 size. 12 + size seems a little to large to enjoy in hand.

The lack of a roadmap for the iPad Pro is very bothersome. It would be great to know if they are ever going to harness the power of the M1/M2 Processors with pro aps or macOS capabilities. I moved from a 2018 iPad Pro 11 with A12x processor recently to the M2 iPad Pro 11. The upgrade was more for battery life and future possibilities with the M2. It's the future possibilities that are unknown and frustrating.

I have an 11" iPad Pro from early 2020 and it still looks and works like new. It doesn't have the M1 chip, yet it's still plenty fast enough for everything I do with it. But it doesn't support the external display (other than mirroring, which isn't so good).
I am looking at the 12.9" iPad Pro for the better display, but will probably wait until the M3 chip comes out. Supply chain rumors suggest it will be a much bigger upgrade over the M2 than the M2 was over the M1, in terms of power, efficiency, and battery life.
Aaron suggests you consider buying the Magic Keyboard case in black if you're considered about getting it dirty. I have the black Magic Keyboard case for my 11" iPad Pro and it gets very dirty. It doesn't look nearly as good as Aaron's 2-year-old white magic keyboard case. So I'm not sure I'd agree with Aaron on that.

@zollotech With your editing, do you see a difference in rendering time between the M1 / M2? Looking at my first ipad and tried the 9th gen - but the camera on it and lack of 4k are a killer for me.

I bought an Ipad Pro M2 12'9 and I've been using it for about 7 months now. I mainly use safari, procreate and streaming services. I just checked the battery health is now at 96 percent with 134 cycles. It's my first ever Apple device so i'm not really that knowledgeable about these things. Is it considered good?

Im using an iPad Pro 2018 (A12X). Is it worth upgrading when using iMovie and Garageband a lot? I feel it's still snappy. And can I use my Magic Keyboard case on the new M2 iPad Pro?

I’m still using my 2018 iPad Pro. It’s my daily driver. I use both iMovie and CapCut for video editing and the iPad still handles anything I throw at it. However I’m wondering if there’s anything to the hype about M2.

I love my iPad Pro 12.9” I do watch videos each lasting only about 3 minutes. But, the battery is very poor. I read where I can charge it from 50% to 100%. My daughter said I charge it too much. I’m 90 years old so, if that is to often please advise. Mt iPad is exactly like yours. I love your videos. I learn from them. TY.

My whole college life of 6years , I used a combo of ipad 6th gen, a good windows laptop and an iphone 7(which then i changed it to 11 then to 12).
I changed my old windows laptop to a macbook(which i regretted because my workflow was so much restricted and then i changed back to a 15 inch windows laptop again)
Now I am looking to buy the ipad pro 12.9 256 cellular model and change my iPhone to 15 pro max. (Hoping this combo with my new windows laptop lasts me another 4-5 years maybe 6 years)

I can’t see any reason to upgrade my 2020 12.9”. The speed isn’t significantly faster on the newer models. I’ll hold out till Apple moves the front camera to landscape.🤞

Give the Magic Eraser sponge a try for cleaning the Magic Keyboard. I haven’t tried it on the keyboard but the eraser works really well and seems like they’re meant for each other 😅
