  • In this video, I show some of the orchids at RF Orchids in Homestead, Florida on a wam May Day. Since there were so many plants to see, I may have rushed the video. I did fill up my shopping cart and will follow up with a big haul video soon!!
I was also lucky enough to run into Melissa from @Melissa-loves-orchids - she is so nice!!

Grew up nearby. Brother traveled to Nicaragua orchid hunting with Bob Fuchs. Love this place. BTW great place to order orchids; they ship. Mother's Day; Birthdays, Funerals, etc.

@@jjj32801 When I was there, Mike was working mostly to make orchid arrangements - may be a sizable part of their business and he is very good at it!

That is the apex of possible fun! Going to a really nice commercial orchid nursery like this to spend other people's money, which they gave you as a form of showing their appreciation for your work and freindship!!! How much more fun could a human being deserve? hahahaha! Nice video, thank you for sharing!

Thanks for your comment. Haul video coming! And, yes, it was good fun. But, I spent out my gift card and had to use MY OWN MONEY to buy some of the orchids!!

Thanks for your comment - yes, the plants looked really good - not many flowers but that was OK with me since I am more interested in high plant quality. I get a lot of satisfaction from getting plants to flower and these plants do have a good chance of flowering since they are so nice!!

I'm envious. Lowland tropical Cattleyas like _C. violacea_ are very tricky to grow outdoors here, as it's too cold in the winter nights, and the cold rains are very risky.

I brought a violacea home with me - that is now the most expensive orchid that I have ever purchased - hope it likes its new home....

That Vandachostylis Pon Washington you picked looks pretty neat! Love the deep purple lip with the yellow! Is this one going on the Vanda tree?

Thanks for your comment but I am not sure where it will be located. I bought it because I loved it but my space is so small that I may have to gift it to someone??...

@@plantpropagator ah, that’s understandable! It’s a beauty for sure! And with a nice fragrance I’m sure whomever you gift it to will appreciate it!

When you pan from side to side, slow down. You’re making me dizzy. You’re moving the camera way too fast.

Thanks for the comment - I know - I wrote in the video description that I rushed this video and needed to slow down. It was a busy day as I had too many things planned - my next video (taken later in the same day) was also a little rushed - sorry.... I will try to keep this in mind for my next orchid grower visit...
