  • In this video on a really rainy day, I share my 11 large blooms on Brassocattleya Clear Stars, which a friend gifted me 2 years ago. I also show some of her progeny, which resulted from seed flasked less than 14 months ago. Bc. Clear Stars and her progeny seem to like where they are growing and are vigorous but well-behaved.

      Thanks - it is displayed where I can always see it. I hope that I can bring it into my home society member meeting this week! It should last that long but may not still be in peak bloom...

    Wow wow wow! She is spectacular!! I hear you about the rain 🌧️. Same thing here. And if it’s not pouring then it’s nonstop drizzling. 😖. But it’s true about the growth. Maybe this is exactly what we needed to induce a generous growth period! 🎉 yay 😁

      The good part is here but the bad part is coming - I am keeping a close eye on black rot to get those plants away from my uninfected plants ASAP. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

    Wow! That looks amazing! Kind of Reminiscent of an orchid gifted to me, B. Little Stars x C. Intermedia. Only Difference is that instead of a solid pinkish violet color on the lip, it's spotted/dotted!
    Still have no Idea if there's a registered name for B. Little Stars x C. Intermedia, but yeah!
    And also, here in the Philippines , rainy season is gradually kicking in after a hot hot summer! 😅

      I looked up to see if your plant was registered and it does not appear to be. I am starting to get into spots and. your plant sounds awesome!

    waw! Nice vigorous plant! I can easily see how it has B. nodosa and C. purpurata in its background! But I can't see any trace of the bifoliate plants you mentioned, intermedia and bicolor. Thank you for sharing!

      Those other parents are smaller contributors - the main ones are nodosa and purpurata. I have seen other siblings of my plant and they are all a little different - patterns of coloration in the lip. Thanks for your comment!

    Lovely video on a gorgeous specimen! :) I’m curious if you’d be willing to give more info / maybe a tutorial on making your wire pot hangers? Those look great! 😮

    That's a beautiful orchid. Does it take more sunlight or more shade? How many times in a year does it bloom?

    • @plantpropagator
      @plantpropagator  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment. Clear Stars takes bright indirect sunlight - the sun is filtered through the palm trees above it - I think that this is called "dappled" sunlight. For the number of times per year that it blooms, I actually keep notes of bloom time of all of my orchids. It bloomed 3 times in 2023 and has bloomed twice so far in 2024. It may be classified as a continuous or periodic bloomer.
