It's good to know that the government is showing love to the slum dwellers by offering free medical services. They should do the infrastructure too..Those guys deserve more
Electricity, internet, paved roads in Kenya’s most popular slum. Did you know there are more than 100 NGOs that raise money claiming that they are helping Kibra. Child sponsors are advertised the world over using Kibra as a poster child. Very rarely does foreign media tell you the real story about Kibra. Please send your money to help this child and most of the money goes into the NGO’s “operational costs” as they live in Runda and Muthaiga in million dollar homes.
That’s why they inflate the numbers of the population living in Kibera. The over inflation of the numbers has been done for so many years that most Kenyans believe that there are a million people live in Kibera which is a lie. The real census show only about 250K which makes more sense. But there are some charities that do actually help for sure. One example is Compassion International and I know this first hand.

The Nubians came from Sudan. They were fighting for the British colonial government so upon return, they were given land in Kenya at this place. They built their houses using mud. They also built rental houses using mud. When Kenyans started coming to Nairobi to work during colonial times, the whites had imposed an apartheid system with different parts of Nairobi exclusively reserved for different races. Africans could only live in slums where the colonial government did not provide amenities. That slum looks like normal living conditions in a number of other continents
it honestly looks like it "MIGHT" be a poor area, but I don't know whether or not I'd really be too worried..
Maybe about heatstroke or thirst, everyone seems to be doing their ting and really to be at peace. I'm sure stuff goes on there, but isn't it like that in pretty much every country??
I'd feel safer in Kenya than New York City (AC/DC must be hard af - The song - I feel safe in New York City) lol xD
It looks pretty clean.
The Kenyans will not be happy about this I swear
Nah this is fine, he is showing all sides of Nairobi. It is what it is.
Not really.
Aint no same bout it
We are happy that reality are you not happy?
Why not? Atleast he is showing both sides
there are usually safety nets for the poor but some of the ppl are on drugs or suffer mental illness.
They got better roads than New Orleans.
Looks safer then american slums
Well all I see is business people engaging in there daily activities it might be a slum but I guarantee you more complex businesses are being performed there.
The issue with electricity can be solved.
Clean water and sewer need to
be the top priority for the Nairobi county government
.
area of kibra and industrial area once that is solved the rest is will follow kibra people are hardworking and don’t need your handouts.
Btw am from kenya and grew up in those humble beginnings and now work as a computer and electrical engineer in California and Shanghai china
The United Sates have ghettos/ the projects and are really no different, so i really don't get the point of this video....Making it seem like it's some kind of tourist attraction
It's not a competition
They are not the same my brother go to one and u will see
It is a tourist attraction!!
@@u-know-this Same just different countries, Slums and ghettos. Truth be told you're probably safer in the Slums of Nairobi than the Ghetto's of U.S Baltimore Compton etc.. at least there's a chance of me not getting shot by my own people. Everyone has this idea that the U.S is this first world country that is so better off, which is all a bunch of lies, deception and propaganda
@@tez4410 maybe you can expound what u mean by same. Coz I have been to both and there is nothing same about them. As far as ur life's safety u are safer in Kibera.
That tout guide is useless
He tried in this video
He is a taxi driver..
The tourist's mind is more of a slum than the location being visited! What a simpleton! Not unlike listening to primary school student (from an small, isolated village) trying to sound adult!
Could be slum but maybe no much shooting or crime compare here in L A California u.s.a.
How much do people pay for rent in the Slums.
$10 - $30 per month
Everybody is wearing european attire. they really got us
The other thing he said about medical free is lair, the most expensive thing in Kenya is medicine the country is corrupt ,public clinics have no medicine they just check on you and prescribe for you medicine to go and buy in the shops or pharmacy ,which is very difficult for most of people who are trying to savive with 1 dollar per day.
Brah you seem to be pained with us, What u just said is not true ,,,, 24 hospitals are coming up in the Slums. The govt thru the NMS is doing alot to the pp living in Kibera. You'll be surprised there's an estate in Kibera by the government but ppl refused it so life there is better
@@ucktri1115 hes a Tanzanian, what did you expect 😂
@@antony6799 Ameona Kibera sio what he thought ,,, sasa wivu imemchemsha kama uji 😂😂

Glad that you have admitted there's slums in the US too. Good job though
Our slums are worst than this here in West Africa. Your country is beautiful man.
Hello Remmy, 🥰🥰🥰

I dont see any drive by shooting brother (: That video tells all !
Not second, it’s the largest slum in Africa if not the world.
Usual bitter Tanzanian, you’re hate for Kenya will kill you, kibera as you’ve seen actually looks better than most of Daresalaam
@@antony6799 no one hated anything, I simply responded, according to habitat international, Kibera is the largest slum in Africa not the second. And if you look up “largest slum in the world” Kibera also comes up. Why does reading data make me bitter? Anyway, whatever man. Keep looking for the witch.
@@SimbaM2kufu haven’t you heard a million times that it’s not the largest in Africa, maybe it’s Tanzanian internet that shows it’s the largest in the world
We do a population census every 10 years. The last one in 2019 used a lot of technology. This statistic has been _proven_ to be patently false. But somehow our fellow Africans want to aid the mzungus who have been spreading this narrative for their own fundraising gain. If Kibra alone has 1 - 2 million people as they say, Nairobi must have over 20 million people, nearly 40% of Kenya's population? Logic clearly shows this is rather foolish. We will only be great with unity. The leaders that taught us otherwise failed badly
Heard that children's are smart and talented. Groomed up properly so that they don't get diverted
I thought we'd be shown the American slums ☹️
Hello my brother./ thanks for sharing 👍🏽👍🏽oh & do the people in Kenya/ slums pay rent) v?
