@Frolic & Courage thanks! What website would you recommend for buying online tickets or "day" passes to the Collusiam, Vatican, and other main attractions in Rome?

Thank you so much for the video! So helpful 🥰 Could you tell me what my options are if I’m arriving at Termini at midnight? I have a late flight landing at FCO in July and after Termini I’d like to know if there’s just uber/taxi to take me to my accomodation or Metro/bus works until late in the night.
Hi , Thanks for the informative video . We are travelling to Milan on one of the days that we are visiting Rome in the morning and would like to know if it is possible to travel from the San Pietro train station to Roma Termini via Trenitalia 2nd class using the ATAC CIS weekly ticket. The information is different on websites, so just wanted to check with you. Basically I would like to know if the CIS ticket is valid on Trenitalia within Rome. Thanks !
Visiting Rome at the moment and bought the weekly pass but really I’m finding that Rome is actually relatively ‘small’ and easily walkable compared to say Paris and I’m barely using the pass at all. It may depend where you are staying but I presumed it would be like Paris where I topped up a 10 trip purchase on the Navigo card more than twice in the 5days. Love the Paris metro!
Rome is a walkable city for sure and I agree - it all depends on what part of the city you stay in and your itinerary. Paris is also one of my absolute favorite cities 🥰 Glad you are enjoying Rome by foot - there are great shops to discover just by walking 🚶🏽♀️🙂
Hello Antoinette.. i will be in rome for 10days and i want to see most of the rome attractions.. i dont know if i need to buy the CIS ticket or the tourist roma pass 72hrs.. is there a tourist roma ticket for 7days? What can you suggest?
Hello!! 👋🏽 Unfortunately there is not a 7-day tourist pass available - there’s only the 24/48/72hr passes. I think a CIS+Roma 72hr pass will work, but there’s also a monthly pass that may be cheaper. I’m not familiar with using the monthly pass, but it may be worth looking into to see if it will work for you 😊: www.atac.roma.it/en/tickets-and-passes/monthly-roma
Wow! Absolutely helpful information. Very well explained. I have a question. I have booked a hotel in the area between Campo di Fiori and Via Arenula. From FCO I intend to take FL1 train to Trastevere and then Tram 8. Is that the best option? Also is my FL train ticket valid on the tram? Thank you Merci.
Thanks Isabelle! Since you are traveling to one of the smaller areas of Rome, this seems like a great option! Be sure to put your exact start and ending address in Google maps (and the date/time of departure) just to see if there is an alternate route that may be more favorable using the bus or walking. If you purchase a TrenItalia FL ticket it is only valid for the train ride, I do not believe it covers transfers. Once the train ride is over, i suggest buying a ticket for the tram (one of the tickets listed in the video depending on your itinerary and needs). Have a safe and fun trip!
Hi Awilson, welcome! 😊 Once you purchase a public transportation ticket or pass you have to scan it at a dedicated card reader at the station (or on the bus) to show you’ve paid for the ticket. Once scanned, you’ve “validated” the fact that you legitimately paid the required fee. Does this make sense?
Excellent video. Thorough research. Tkx. I'm just a big lost. 😮. Don't know a thing about taking these transportation. Can u do me a big favor by outlining step by step & the cheapest way to get from MXP airport to Bergamo. I appreciate it. Slim
Thank you for watching 👍🏽 I haven’t traveled to MXP or Bergamo, but if you enter your locations in Google maps and click the train option, you’ll see multiple options with links on where to purchase tickets 👏🏽
Hello Antoinette great video Thank you. I have some ?s if don't you mind. Im staying in Rome for 6 days. As you said sounds like a CIS ticket is my best bet. I see that countless credit card payment is now available all forms of transportation starting this year? How does my countless C/C know that it's a CIS pass payment method? Do you recommend Terravision bus transfer from Fiumicino to Termini.? sorry last question. Best way To travel from termini to Pompei? Thank you in advance:)
Does "Weekly Pass" covers line 223 between La Giustiniana and Rome Termini? Also does the same pass covers FL3 train (2nd class) from La Giustiniana and Valle Aurelia?
Thanks for the informative and helpful video. There seems to be a lot of confusion about which areas are covered by the CIS - (Carta Integrata Settimanale) weekly ticket. We are going to Rome a week today and our AirBNB has a Lazio postcode and we need the CIS ticket to cover as far as Gianicolense/Ravizza. I could find nothing online to confirm it does but when pressed our host said that it was. The transport zone system in online english is quite opaque and I was wondering if we needed a CIRS/BTR - (Biglietto Turistico Regionale) weekly ticket? I just hope our host is correct or our daily transport to and from our AirBNB to the Centro Storico will be much more difficult!
Hi, can you please let me know what kind of train types that you mentioned in ur video would be covered under th EU global rail pass, thanks, and does the EU global rail pass cover the trip from Roma terimni to the airport.
Hi Hema, unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the EU global rail pass, but I’d check the terms & conditions of the pass to see what is or is not covered 👍🏽
Hey Marumar - definitely validate your ticket each trip 👍🏽 The 10-bit is just 10 single ride tickets, so you must validate one ticket per one trip on the metro/bus/etc.
Hi Mam, Does the Roma tourist pass allow to transfer from Roma Termini to Airport FCO? I am planning to stay for 3 days. Wondering if the 72 h pass will cover the entire transport from Airport to Rome, within Rome and Rome to Airport
Leonardo Express is a better option from/to Fiumicino Airport and Rome City Center. It’s a separate ticket from the metro ticket you’re gonna use around Rome.
Hi Arun - I don’t believe the Roma tourist pass covers airport transfers. The best bet is to snag an FL1 train ticket or take the Leonardo Express. Once you’re in the city center, the pass will cover unlimited travel.
That is quite an early departure ☀️ I’d recommend getting to the airport early, so possibly take a taxi or Uber for a guaranteed drop off. It’s more expensive but you’ll get there in time (and hopefully before traffic starts!)
Super helpful, thanks. Would you happen to know anything about the Cotral app? I know you can purchase and activate tickets directly from app, but Im unsure what to do once you board the bus. Is there a QR code reader or something? Thank you very much.
No problem! I don’t know much about the Cotral app, but I do know there is a ticket validator/scanner on the bus. The scanner is usually right near the driver’s seat when you enter and/or somewhere near the middle of the bus near the back door. The challenging part is finding the validating machine when the bus is full 😅
Great video girl! Do you have any advice on how to get from fiumicino to ciampino airport by public transportation? Is there a way to go without going through the city center?
Unfortunately not 😔,l the airport is outside of the central region of Rome so you will need to purchase a separate train ticket (either Leonardo Express or FL1 train).
that video was very helpful! but since I'll be staying in rome for 3 weeks I was wondering if the MENSIALE ticket would be a better fit for me than the CIS ticket. Could you explain to me how those work? I chcked the web site and it's divided by zones(??) i'm just confused 😅
Thanks for the video, I am planning to visit Italy in January with my family. We are planning to travel to Pisa as a day trip from Rome, which is the cheapest way to travel? Thanks in advance
Thanks for watching Tanii 😊 Prices can vary depending on the day or when tickets are purchased, but generally speaking a bus or train may be the cheapest option.
Hey girl I used your videos about how to get around Chicago through the bus and metro system last April. You saved me a ton of money and now here I am, watching you back for Italy. I wanted to ask a few questions: 1. You mentioned that on some bit tickets, it runs for 100 hrs. Are we talking about just 100 hrs worth of ride or does the timer start as soon as you validate it even if you're in a transport? 2. I'm gonna be in rome for 3 days, which ticket do you recommend? I know you bought the Cis ticket but is there a ticket where I can use it to rome, Florence, and venice? Or are these tickets only valid in rome? Thank you!!!!
Hey girl! That makes me soooo happy to hear that you were able to save as much money as I did on transportation!! 😁 to answer your questions: 1) it’s 100mins (not hours, unfortunately) the timer starts when you first use/validate your ticket. 2) It depends! I’d go through your itinerary to determine when and where you plan to use public transport. If you plan to use public transportation a lot, look into the 72hr tourist pass. I mainly focused on getting around Rome so the tickets I mentioned are only valid for the Rome/Lazio region, but If you want to travel to different cities (Florence, Venice) look into TrenItalia tickets to get there and the individual cities public transport options.👍🏽
@@FrolicAndCourage yes sorry minutes. Wow that's not alot actually. Thank you for your insight. You have fire content and I'm actually gonna do some of the things you mentioned on your trip! Also, the Chicago metro lol you weren't kidding about suspicious activity there 🤣 I'm like, SHE WAS RIGHT!
Thanks for the encouragement! I know you’re going to have soooo much fun in Italy! And oh yeah…I recently took a second trip to Chicago and what I said still stands, lol 😂
Bonjour Antoinette. First of all.. thank you so much for this informative video. Im traveling to Rome in May & i was totally confused & tried to understand the huge map, that by chance you just explained it in a simple way. So after wht i heard & read, the validate machines are before entering the train & also inside the train/ bus itself? Correct me if im wrong. And in case i missed it, i can write down the date/time by myself ( anything else?) Your video is extremely helpful! ❤️
Hey Genevieve 👋🏽 I love that this video helped you 🥰 The metro requires you to validate the ticket in the turnstile. Once you pass the turnstile you are good to go - no validation needed while on the actual metro car (there are no validation points there). On the bus, you have to validate your ticket while on the bus on a ticket reader near the bus driver or entry door. People may be standing in the way, but they will move. If the machine doesn’t work, then write the date/time on the ticket to avoid fines. Otherwise, if the machine works and you just missed it or forgot and get caught, you’ll have to pay. Hope this helps! ❤️
This is so helpful! Thank you! I’m going to Rome next week and stressing getting around buses and trains with my kids. Do I have to buy tickets for my 8 and 12 yr old? Or are they free? Also, you briefly mentioned there’s an app where I can buy tickets. How would I validate them then? Thank you so much for your very helpful video!
Thanks Sofia! Kidd under 10yrs old are free with a paying adult. We didn’t download the app, but there are card readers that pretty much function like Apple/Google Pay - tap your phone and the ticket is validated.
Best explanation with great details! I’m also glad to see that u have shared the blog link which provides the same info in written form. It’s a great help. Thank you 🙏
Hi! Great Video! so simplified! I have a doubt, are the public transport buses same route as hop on hop off buses? Do the hopon hopoff buses give any more advantage over the public transport?
Hi Srishti! The public busses are for everyday use, make more stops, are much cheaper (usually no more than $3/ride), and don’t run the same routes as hop on hop off busses. Hop on/off busses are specifically designed to stop at the major sights and are more expensive (around $45-60), but for one price you don’t have to worry about transfer fees or an extensive transport network.
Hi, this is me and my wife first time in Rome. Where should we buy the 48 hr bus pass from? Do you have any online website or we need when we arrive at Termini station? If we would like to go to from our hotel to Vatican is it best to go via bus, train, or taxi?
Hey Jaspreet - you can buy the tickets from the kiosks in the metro station, from an ATAC office, or online w/ an app - check out the official site here (www.atac.roma.it/en/tickets-and-passes/roma48h). The best way to the Vatican depends on your location, time of day, traffic, and whether any events are taking place on the day of your visit. I’d suggest using Google maps to route your trip a few days before and the day of your trip for the best routes. I took the metro and walked a few minutes from my hotel without issue, but check the maps before you go! 🙂
@@FrolicAndCourage Thank you. Did you go to the Palace of Versailles? If so, how can we get to that destination without changing too many buses as France transportation is more confusing.

Thank you for such an informative video! I’m traveling with husband & 2 kids this coming summer. First time ever. I’m a bit nervous and trying to learn as much as I can before hand to make the trip memorable. Are the kids fare for CIS same price as adult? Thank you
Thank you so much, Vanessa! We were really surprised that the MULTIBIT 'rechargeable' cards can only top-up one trip at a time from the ticket machine, once you have used up the tickets you purchased... makes no sense
Hey Kathryn! It should be $20 for the taxi ride 🚗 Typically, taxis shouldn’t charge per person unless you have more than 4 people. They key word is “shouldn’t” but some drivers may try to test that limit.
Hi, I posted a question yesterday but I guess didn't get posted or got deleted. I was wondering if you have any feedback for me. we were in Rome earlier this year and on the last day, we purchased a 100 min ticket to get to our destination. unfortunately, we didn't know we have to scan our tickets and we got ticketed literally 30 minutes after purchasing. We tried to communicate with them and show the timing but they didn't even look at the tickets time and issued fines. Do you know if there is a chance to fight this or if we have to pay?
Hi Panteha, just seeing this post. Yikes, it sounds like they were vigilant in their enforcement efforts that day. All tickets must be validated and as you’ve seen, officers are not interested in hearing anything else besides the validation machine doesn’t work (in which case you have to write the date/time you entered, etc). There is a way to appeal the fine (visit www.atac.roma.it/en/utility/pay-your-fines) if you want to pursue it, but I’m not sure how successful people have been and I’ve heard your appeal must be written in Italian. I haven’t gone through the process, but if you want to pursue it please let us know how it turns out!
@@FrolicAndCourage Thank you! I guess we have to pay them. We don't know how to write in Italian. I don't think their approach is nice. hurts because we didn't even think of violating their system. They need to have at least a wave or grace system for the tourists. Thank you so much for replying back!
would you recommend the CIS for a week of traveling in Rome for 6 people? Alsoo is it possible to use one pass for the whole group or is that illegal 🤧
Thank you very much for this useful video! Just one question, if I want to buy the CIS ticket, how do I proceed to personalize it? I mean, If I buy it from a ticket machine, is there an option to put in your name and date of birth? Or should I write down my information by hand? Thank you
Hey Christy! I didn’t spend much time (at all) on the trams because not a lot of tourists take them and the network is not nearly as extensive or well connected as the bus or metro routes. Fares are the same as the other tickets 👍🏽
Hey Donna, it costs between €125 to €170 to get from Civiteveccia port to Rome via taxi. If cruising, you can also check to see if the cruise line offers a transfer as an excursion. 👍🏾😊
@@FrolicAndCourage Thank you for answering. We are cruising, but they are not offering transfer bc we are staying two days before and after the cruise in a hotel we chose.
Hey Jac! The 10 BIT is for 10 single journeys and you do not have to use it on the same day of purchase. Once you validate the first ticket you have 100 minutes to use it. Once the time expires, your next ticket will not be active until YOU validate it - whether it’s the same day, the next day, next week, etc. Hope this helps! 🙏🏽 😊
Hey Thea- purchase a TrenItalia ticket at any one of the kiosks at Termini to Civitavecchia. There are only a handful of trains leaving everyday that may - or may not - align with the cruise schedule, so plan accordingly! From the cruise port take a bus for around €3 (cash only) to your cruise line 🚢

Excellent and thank you ✌️
Happy to help, Jabier!
Great video, should have more views, thank you.
Thanks Augusto! Feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested in traveling to Rome 🙂
Thank you so much
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for watching!
Im a newbie.....when you say you have to validate your ticket ---- what do you mean?
Hi Awilson, welcome! 😊 Once you purchase a public transportation ticket or pass you have to scan it at a dedicated card reader at the station (or on the bus) to show you’ve paid for the ticket. Once scanned, you’ve “validated” the fact that you legitimately paid the required fee. Does this make sense?
Does the Roma 72 H include Rome to Civitavecchia second class train cost as it says it includes regional section class trenitalia tickets?
Great video, very thorough 🥰
Thank you VeganSquid, glad you liked it!! 😊👍🏾❤️
Very informative
Thank you 😊
Excellent video.
Leonardo Express runs every 15 mins rather than 30 mins (21:10 time mark)
Thanks, Eric! I appreciate it 😊👍🏽
Hello Antoinette great video Thank you.
Great video on traveling in Rome using public transportations but I don’t see any links on metro maps etc🙏🌸🌸
Thanks Evy! All the links are located in my blog, there were too many to place in the video 😊
Should we validate 10- BIT every time we ride it or only once?? Thanks! this vid is so helpful..:)
We took the Leonardo Express and loved it - smooth ride without issue. Thanks dnameisben!
@@FrolicAndCourage Thank you Mam
For the leonardo express, am I understanding correctly that children 12 and under ride free? Thanks!
Great video! Do I have to validate the tickets as I leave the stations as well or just when entering it? Thank you
Thank you, Brad! As long as you validate it when entering you’re good to go, no need to validate on exit 😊
Any guidance for a 6 am departure from FCO? 4 of us with 4 luggage pieces
That is quite an early departure ☀️ I’d recommend getting to the airport early, so possibly take a taxi or Uber for a guaranteed drop off. It’s more expensive but you’ll get there in time (and hopefully before traffic starts!)
for the tap and go feature, do you need to tap out as well when exiting?
Super helpful, thanks. Would you happen to know anything about the Cotral app? I know you can purchase and activate tickets directly from app, but Im unsure what to do once you board the bus. Is there a QR code reader or something? Thank you very much.
No problem! I don’t know much about the Cotral app, but I do know there is a ticket validator/scanner on the bus. The scanner is usually right near the driver’s seat when you enter and/or somewhere near the middle of the bus near the back door. The challenging part is finding the validating machine when the bus is full 😅
@@FrolicAndCourage Thanks for answering so quickly, I really appreciate your efforts.
Happy to help 😊 I hope you have a really awesome trip!
For the 24, 48 or 72 hour pass, do I have to validate the ticket each time I get on?
Yes, absolutely!
nice info
Thanks!
Great video girl!
Do you have any advice on how to get from fiumicino to ciampino airport by public transportation? Is there a way to go without going through the city center?
Thanks Marko! I have a few ways to do it in the video, but making a stop through termini station is pretty much inevitable.
Great content. Have you used the Ticketappy?
Thanks, Carmen! I haven't used the Ticketappy - I just purchased my tickets at the station 👍🏾
can you use roma 72 ticket to get from termini to airport ?
Question please! When you validate the ticket, do you only do it once?
Nice information ☺️
Thank you, arvind!! I appreciate it 😊
Hey girl I used your videos about how to get around Chicago through the bus and metro system last April. You saved me a ton of money and now here I am, watching you back for Italy.
I wanted to ask a few questions:
😁 to answer your questions:
1) it’s 100mins (not hours, unfortunately) the timer starts when you first use/validate your ticket.
And in case i missed it, i can write down the date/time by myself ( anything else?)
Your video is extremely helpful! ❤️
Hey Genevieve 👋🏽 I love that this video helped you 🥰
The metro requires you to validate the ticket in the turnstile.
Thank you 🙏
Wow, thank you Upal! I appreciate you watching and leaving an encouraging comment 😁❤️ Happy travels!
Where do you validate your ticket, at the station or on the vehicle?
Validate at the station at the turnstile or through a small device on the bus 👍🏾
You mentioned in your video that there's a link to the metro and bus route maps below... but I couldn't find them. Did I misunderstand?
Does the leonardo express take you to Roma tiburtina
Hi Arun, Leonardo Express is a non-stop service from FCO to Termini.
I am so sorry I’ve been reading. How do you validate the ticket?
Is it cold in Rome by early October?
Hey there! The weather should be pleasant - think 70°F - 60°F 😊
You’re welcome ☺️ Yes, I did! I dedicated a whole video to Versailles (ruclips.net/video/KY4EEkG3Tjw/видео.html) and on Paris public transportation (ruclips.net/video/SHyBc-HeeJ0/видео.html) if you are interested. I took the train then walked to the palace ✅
Amazing
Thanks for watching Omar!
Thank you for this thorough video. Question: if you purchase a pass, do one need to validate every time or by validating the first time is enough?
You’re welcome Martha! You must validate the card every time you go through a turnstile 👍🏽
In this video we talking about Rome, Italy lol like we could talk about Rome, in Texas lol of course Rome italy
Lol, Sam, you’d be surprised 😆 Rome, Georgia; Rome, NY; Rome, Oregon, Rome, Maine…
@FrolicAndCourage I know i know just pulling your leg 😀 great video by the way
We are going to visit Rome in September so that's why I was doing a research
@@sambaigaziev8044 no worries, I got the joke - it made me lol irl 😂 Thanks for watching and I hope your trip is amazing 🤩
You’re doing the right thing by researching and learning in advance and you’ll be so prepared by the time your trip comes👏🏽 The great news is that if your children are under 10yrs old, they travel for FREE with a fare-paying adult, no ticket required! Otherwise, they’ll need a ticket. Check out the Rome public Transport website (ATAC) FAQ here 👉🏽 www.atac.roma.it/en/frequently-asked-questions/do-children-have-to-pay-for-public-transportation-in-rome
Hope this helps 😊
We were really surprised that the MULTIBIT 'rechargeable' cards can only top-up one trip at a time from the ticket machine, once you have used up the tickets you purchased... makes no sense
Is it true that if you forget to validate or the machine is not working, you can simply write the date and time on your ticket?
It is true! But if the ticket isn’t working I’d let an attendant know (especially if you have a weekly pass or longer).
Can u make a day trip to Naples from Rome on Any passes?
100 thumbs up.
Thanks you for the 100 thumbs up!! 😊❤️
Using a taxi, for example, 4 friends use a taxi that will cost 20 euros,. Is that 5 euros per person or 20 euros per person?
Anytime Panteha! I’m sorry you have to go through that and a little grace would be nice ❤️ Ticket validation in Rome is serious business!
would you recommend the CIS for a week of traveling in Rome for 6 people? Alsoo is it possible to use one pass for the whole group or is that illegal 🤧
Thank you very much for this useful video! Just one question, if I want to buy the CIS ticket, how do I proceed to personalize it? I mean, If I buy it from a ticket machine, is there an option to put in your name and date of birth? Or should I write down my information by hand?
Thank you
Yes - on the back of the card there are boxes for your name. All you need is a pen to fill in the boxes and you are good to go!
Thank You ❤️
what about the Tram?
Hey Christy! I didn’t spend much time (at all) on the trams because not a lot of tourists take them and the network is not nearly as extensive or well connected as the bus or metro routes. Fares are the same as the other tickets 👍🏽
How much does it cost to get from the Civiteveccia port to Rome center via taxi?
Hey Donna, it costs between €125 to €170 to get from Civiteveccia port to Rome via taxi. If cruising, you can also check to see if the cruise line offers a transfer as an excursion. 👍🏾😊
@@FrolicAndCourage Thank you for answering. We are cruising, but they are not offering transfer bc we are staying two days before and after the cruise in a hotel we chose.
You’re welcome 😊 I’m sorry they didn’t offer transportation, but thankfully there are a few options from Rome 👍🏽
Does the Roma 24h or 48h ticket cover the FL5 line to civitavecchia?
Hey Dee 👋🏽 the Roma pass is valid within the limits of Rome, so it unfortunately does not extend to Civitavecchia.
Can a 10 BIT ticket only be used on the day of purchase?
@@FrolicAndCourage I ended up going for the Roma 72 hour pass for unlimited metro rides. I am enjoying Rome so far thanks for your help
Gotta love the unlimited pass! I’m so glad you are enjoying Rome 😊
How can I get from the Terimini to the cruise port?
Hey Thea- purchase a TrenItalia ticket at any one of the kiosks at Termini to Civitavecchia. There are only a handful of trains leaving everyday that may - or may not - align with the cruise schedule, so plan accordingly! From the cruise port take a bus for around €3 (cash only) to your cruise line 🚢
@@FrolicAndCourage Thanks for responding. Should I purchase the ticket online to secure a spot?
Anytime! You can to be extra safe and secure your spot, but there are so many seats on the train that I doubt it will be full. Just be mindful of the time and arrive early!
Are kids free for the bit pass?
Hey Mabv812, Kids under 10 are free when accompanied by a fare paying adult 👍🏽 so as long as the adult purchases the fare, the child should be free 🙂 here’s a link to more info/ www.atac.roma.it/en/tickets-and-passes/free-travel
well this is confusing :D
take 72 hours travel Rome pass and u will get all , transport moments
A bit complicated for a foreigner...........
This video is so helpful! Thank you so much. But I have a question, does the CIRS cover Rome too? I was thinking to buy CIRS so that I could ride the FL1 and the public transportation in Rome too.
This is a great video. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you so much Braxton! 😊❤️👍🏽
