A great video guys. Some extra info. I got a nice shock on my birthday last year - I'm 60. A litacka (season ticket) is a THIRD of the price not half. Blew my mind. If you are between 60 and 65 and here for a week, get a monthly pass. It's 130kcs. Have a lovely day from an old piano player.
I just come back from Prague. I would like to thank you for your videos and all the tips you are giving. The trip was a complete success. We knew where to go, what to see. We enjoyed our stay a lot. What a great and beautiful city. Again thank you.
@@RealPragueGuides When it comes to trams, Melbourne visitors should be reminded that most of Prague's trams have a driver's cab at only one end and doors only on the right in the direction of travel.
Thank you for this usefull information on the subject of buying tickets. The validation step is very difficult to understand for foreigners wo are not used to do it.
Agree! Not only difficult to understand here, but a concept that is administered differently in different parts of the world. The first time we encountered it was in Italy back in the early 2000's (our first time abroad). There you had to validate EVERY time you boarded even with a multiple day ticket. We used them in Venice. More recently we were in Portugal and although we could see facilities for validating tickets, we never really figured their system out at all (fortunately, never had a problem). It seems like in our modern electronic age, it should be possible to have a ticket that can be read and if it has $$ on it, should be good. I understand we are coming into a country with its own culture from our own country and will always do my best to follow the rules there - but they can be very confusing. Especially when we have already PAID for the full fare.
Yeah, also from where I've grown up. If the ticket machine is broken in the tram, you get a free ride if you don't already have a ticket and the inspectors will send the number of the vehicle out, so that other ticket inspectors won't board the tram until it got repaired. Only this is fair!
Been to Prague a few times and visiting Prague again next week. Looking forward to it. I won't need to use transport when I visit. When I have used it, it is very good.
Great video! This type of tutorial is what I was looking for❤ I was there last February. Where I am presently living and where I grew up subways and trams are non existent 😅. Transportation is by car, by means of driving. If not for my Swiss trip last year I would not have plucked the courage to take tram and subway after 1 day in Prague. I think that every country you go to should have a guide in youtube on the transpo system because there are certain laws that vary. For european countries these transpo system are normal, but for other tourists w/o this is challenging.
Love your videos so much - your explanations in all are of your videos are so heartfelt and with love that I really feel like to visit Prague again (what I'll do anyway again, soon) 😍😍😍
Brilliant 👏🏻 that’s a very informative and useful video. We walked everywhere, the only time we got on a tram was with your husband to the castle😉 and then he was very good in getting the point over of how to get them validated. The first time I came we stayed on the outside of Prague 🤷🏼♂️ all I can remember is there was a very large IKEA on the other side of the motorway we came in on. We would get the metro into Prague every morning. Very fast and extremely clean “unlike London Underground 🫣” I think when we visited again we will still walk, there’s so many beautiful buildings that you would miss and it’s so easy to get around most of the things to see👍
A little list for tourists from around the world: → 30 min / 30CZK = 1.19 EUR = 1.30 US$ = 1.02 GBP → 90 min / 40CZK = 1.59 EUR = 1.73 US$ = 1.35 GBP → 24 hrs / 120CZK = 4.76 EUR = 5.19 US$ = 4.07 GBP → 72 hrs / 330CZK = 13.09 EUR = 14.26US$ = 11.18GBP Of course, the amounts may vary slightly from day to day but this little list should work as a good reference for most of you! :)
It's very likely I missed this (I am a "senior" now after all :-) ) But I didn't see/hear in the video about the 65 plus ride metro/tram/bus/funicular (but not trains) free, within the city - would also like to know whether the boats are included in this). That seems like very useful information - as a lot of us that travel these days are retirees in that age group. Maybe if there is a time when you update this video, it could be included. I DO AGREE with the many comments on here about your style. These are not only great videos with very helpful information but you are for sure funny and cute and these are fun to watch! Thank you for doing them.

And . . . that bolsters the point made by someone above - it is intimidating, especially when the impression is that the fine-enforcers are essentially "waiting in the weeds"- just to catch and fine you. People will just be afraid to use public transportation.
On the other hand, the cycling infrastructure is not so good. Better active transport infrastructure, including better cycling infrastructure, has the potential to displace a lot of short local transit trips.
Excellent video! Really saved me a lot of bother on my trip to Prague last week however I feel maybe Val contact the tourism agency for Prague and advise them this will put off a lot of tourists. Regarding 7:00, you will see 'na znamení' on the sheet with the timetable. 'Zastavka na znamení' means request stop. If you see an X next to a tram stop name, that means it is a request stop. When on a tram, looking at where the next stop is displayed, watch out for a bell icon where the next stop is displayed. You will also hear the announcement 'zastavka je na znamení' when approaching a request stop.
Great video. I still have a question as to how the luggage addition works. If I buy a 72 hour ticket with the additional of the Luggage is the luggage addition only valid for the first 180 minutes of that journey?(or for the validity of the 72 hour pass?)
"The luggage/animal fare (20 CZK) is paid by 20 CZK discounted tickets for Prague (zones P, 0, B). Time and zone validity is the same as the validity of passenger tickets, however no longer than 180 minutes. So who's to say that it's a real ticket checker and not a scamer just out to make a quick and easy 1000cz? I understand they are supposed to have a badge which can be faked and an ID that can be faked as well. I know you can ask to see ID but that could start an argument as well
What is the reason for this additional step of validating the ticket? It seems a like a scam to tax tourists... as everywhere in the world... one buys a ticket and it is valid (date/time etc is printed on the ticket or a QR code is sufficient)

So who's to say that it's a real ticket checker and not a scamer just out to make a quick and easy 1000cz? I understand they are supposed to have a badge which can be faked and an ID that can be faked as well. I know you can ask to see ID but that could start an argument as well
My buddy lives in Cerny Most, he also has a trampoline😅
What is the reason for this additional step of validating the ticket? It seems a like a scam to tax tourists... as everywhere in the world... one buys a ticket and it is valid (date/time etc is printed on the ticket or a QR code is sufficient)
