and I think it should be replay at anytime because it's masterpiece!!!
For all who loves John Mayer , and of course miss this live , you should watch it.
I think this live is gold as much as he was done in periscope last year. Видеоклипы
Imagine you're in a Hotel and all of a sudden you hear these tasty licks roaming the halls
If I hear that I’m finding the room and holding my ear at the door 👀👂🏽🚪
You won't hear anything. He rents out 3 floors of every hotel he stays in. One for him, one for his talent, and one for his groupies. That last one is always soaked the next morning for some reason.
This man is a wizard and everything he plays is so pleasing to hear.
Let’s be honest if he’s why you picked up the guitar you won’t be satisfied for quite some time. Remember to have fun on your way.
This. Main philosophy should always be to come up with stuff you enjoy. It'll take a long time however you do it, but if you like what you create it'll feel like no time at all
This.
I'm glad i picked it up because of Hendrix... wait what
This, i agree
Gotta remember the time scale. I only started at 18 properly and I’m 22 now. I get really upset sometimes when I can’t play stuff like him and I have to remember he’s got a lot of time on me and... he’s John Mayer
For real John's guitar videos is my go to when I'm frustrated with my shitty playing. I can't say it enough how influential he is.
John just reignited my passion
How are you doing now
that chord progression/thiing/whatever at 1:50 is absolutely b e a u t i f u l
emoji of a wave
@@KGTheGuitarFreak not quite but that's a good shout!
Here's what I got: C, Gm, F, Fm, Bb, C. then Eb, Gm, Cm, G#M, G7, Cm, F.
Daniel Caesar thought so too
@@PillCozbee Damn, B#!
There’s so many amazing guitar players in the world today but John is as good as any of them! Incredibly versatile but I love the way he plays the blues.
Absolutely agree. Could seriously listen to his bluesy stuff for hours.
My favorite true artist. The guitar is literally an extension of his body, through love, he is feeling to create the music.
The point he likes to make, which I think is the hardest for a lot of us, is developing an idea from your head first, before you play anything on the guitar. Having a mental picture or in this case, sound, of what exactly you want to hear is hard. It is hard to come up with new ideas, that's why creativity is a rare gift. I wonder, if we practice this religiously, how good could we get, or is there some sort of cognitive limit that no matter how much you practice, you won't be able to do it? The best improvisers are those who have the best ideas on their heads, how do they come up with such great ideas?
This guy forgets stuff thats better than anything I will ever write.
I feel your pain
When love is present in the absence of fear, creativity is infinite.
when he says "dont get bored" around 13:23 - im like: i can literally not get any less bored than this, sounds amazing. My primary goal is to be able to sit down, pick up the guitar and jam like that. if hes your inspiration, its gonna take a while yeah.... but stick with it, the plateau's will turn into advancement for sure!
Am I the only one that goes: “ugh, fuck he’s good.” Every 10 seconds?
John Mayer you are the other half of my heart.
John is one of the inspirations I had for me to quit playing guitar.
Love it when he goes full Mayer with the ‘yeah’ 🤘🏻😎
Damn. Just...damn. Thank you for this upload, super helpful.
john is so good whenever i hear him play he has me smiling and laughing the entirety of the time he’s playing for and AFTER
Thank you John .
For your time and knowledge...really appreciate it
Don’t be a hater. We need guys like him for the future of blues
For the future of music period!
One of the best lesson ive Ever watched!Awesome!
You are a good guitar player and a nice man too, many thanx!
This is magic. Great info everywhere but at 33 minutes I went WOW! That WAS GOLD!
Now I'm beginning to know what I really missed learning in younger days! 😄I'm so thankful I still got to start the journey though at times feels it's too late! And to discover such great talented Guitarist, singer songwriter it's such a humbling experience 😊🙏🏽Thank you for sharing these videos
Not much on his pop stuff but man he can play that axe and I enjoy listening to his blues playing the most! I don't know of any other player of his caliber that'll take his or her time to engage their fans like this. Truly amazing talent
Love the versatility, lots of inspiration there, thx!
A genius when it comes s to music john.
These John Mayer live streams are absolute gold! I’m not sure how many guitar players realise this, whatever genre or guitar you play…
And this is why he’s a Grammy award winning millionaire with a handful of A-list Hollywood actress under his belt. Greatest of his generation.
This is all I want, ever.
Very nice thank you.
That was fun. I am a piano player learning to play guitar and to hear how you think about the process of making music is quite fascinating! I can still hear all those riffs you were playing in my head.
I want us to be in the same atmosphere. I’d love to sit and listen and watch intently, no words, just music.
These videos are mint gold.. Mayer with a maple? Nice!
John Mayer is just a cool freaking dude!!! A damn genius man!!!
Watching this 1 year and1 day in the future.
Amazing skills
32:00 i think this is what every one should practice if they have the question how to phrase and improvise correctly or better
soooo goooodddd.....
I know this video is old but just wanted to say john is such a soulful master and so grounded
Lotsa sage advice packed into a half hour here!
This is gold
and navy
Just take time, close your eyes feel and play what you feel.
Great guy.
20 years playing. Some people just have the ear doesn’t mean you’re a bad player but you have to hear what you want, find the note and make an example of it with your hands. Mistakes take me further in my playing. It’s easy to learn but a lifetime to master.
This video literally made me start playing guitar
How’s it going?
His pick trick is at a magician level.
John Mayer's a good
Nice to see him still picking up a Fender
way better
all i want in this world is to play that queen of cali groove.
me too!!! holy sh****, that change my way of playing yhe guitar!!
this guy is from another world
It messed me up for almost a week. I couldn't stop playing it.
@@jayq1862 did u get it ?
Can you imagine touring with him? Every night he’s doing these late night jams 😂
Nice!
13:10 ... dude...
dope
It thru me off with the date a second but it’s all good😁😁✌️✌️👍
He did this on my friggin Birthday?!
Wow. That totally matters. Lol
@@davecarsley8773 definitely. According to ancient Mayan scripture, I will automatically absorb his skill, slowly, over the course of the next 5 years. Muahahahahha
That riff around 13:30 was amazing
Why is that sounds so beautiful?
@@moseschan6363 it sounds so tasteful
Gold mine for licks
Cool
13:10
Damn.
Thing is even if I come up with good licks and sing those licks perhaps, I can't demonstrate it on the guitar. The main challenge for me is not to create tasty licks but to find the exact notes on the guitar. It takes me so much time to find those notes and sometimes I even forget what I created in the first place while triying to find those notes. It feels like speaking a different language that I am not advanced level at. I translate and think about the right words to use before speaking which takes time. However John Mayer is native in this language. He flows like water while speaking...
Keep training your ear and relative pitch
Could some pro who is reading this please make a tutorial how to play this cali groove?
How does he come up with those chord progressions🤯😂
tomo his teacher
#PickNoPick thats a cool game
Thé.john mayer is insain in the most amazing way
The question I have to ask is will you come to San Antonio and we can go to my garage and jam🎸👍🏾😎🤣
can any one read the chord progressions he is following in in the first 7 mins or so
This jam John is doing at the beginning is it a song?? If so what song if not he should make a song with this jam.
When should i start standing up to play?.
Who was your best man right
can someone please tell me the chord at 3:50??? I've been trying to figure it out for an hour now and it doesn't sound anything like he's playing. What song is this anyways?
selena c minor key
So the chord that u talking bout
G# G Cm just like that and keep circle around that progression
About the song name i didnt know but i think it just humming from inside his head :D
Thanks so much!! I tried them out and it doesn't sound anything like he's doing:/ maybe I'm just doing it wrong? I'm very adamant to figure this song out lol. I have that type of personality 😂
G# - and it may also be because he's using the triad form of it.
selena hey I don’t know if you are still trying to figure out that chord a year later, but here you go:
Low E: 4th fret
A: skip
D: 6th fret
G: 5th fret
B: 4th fret
You pick from the low e to the d, g, b, and then back over the g and d again.
That’s when he switches to the 4th fret on the g string and 3rd fret on the d string to finish it before going into the high riff. The high riff begins with 8th fret on b string sliding up to 11 and then 3 plucks of the 8th fret on the high e. Have fun!
Second nature
what are the chords/progression he's playing at 1:50?
C Gm F Fm
Jimmy Vaughn
How does he just come up with the progressions on the spot is my question lmao
he literally explains it in the video if you watch it
Chord progressions? He knows theory and what notes/chords are in each key…but also when you’ve listened to and learned enough songs you pick up on patterns.. and you go from there. There’s a finite combination of notes and chords so you’ll see some over and over but you can spice them up with going major to minor Like C - Am- F - Fm - G…
Did you like the Chicago
19:08
This is the time tag we all needed.
Why is he so damn good 😭
1:55
Got that real heavy thick Strat Hendrix tone...
When You play your phrasing, do you copy other Guitarists, or is that your own style, you created, from those other Artists; because to me, whoever you picked, has to be a great, because you fit in every style that is relevant; a step ahead; like you had what it takes to play; yet you honed in your skills, to be able to play your own thing, with the GIANT Box of guitar tools...
I'm starting to really dig your playing and learn a whole lot by listening/watching...
Every key you play in; except C# for some reason; Ha!
Come home 🏠 babe
Was this Blackie? (FCS Eric Clapton), I wonder
i can't remember
I don't get the lefty guitar....when he's right handed performing with Dead and Company. [regular Gorge attendee]]
The camera flipped the video.

Is this video image reversed or is he playing left-handed???

okay someone out there has to know the answer to this... when he's playing "with intent" around 13:10, is he changing keys at all in those chord progressions? whatever he's doing sounds so beautiful and I always wonder how he does it... thoughts?
I think he is playing Am, F and E7.
There’s just so much to learn let alone the actual technique to be blue to play it
Nah he stays in key. He plays some flat notes added for taste that’s why it sounds out of key. Making them work however is where the skill is

does he have perfect pitch?
someone needs to teach john how to record horizontal videos cause holy shit.
I mean, I feel like we're incredibly lucky to get any lessons from John Mayer, regardless of whether or not it's being filmed horizontally.
john really needs some wall art
He said he was in a hotel 🤣
