The 80 Monte Carlo is a great looking car. The restyled 81 was also beautiful.
“Make sure your prospect feels the falling headliner”
They don't age after 8 years. Only after 8 years. Best to keep in the garage. Drive at night only.
The 1970 to 1972 Monte Carlo is my favorite.
My first car at 18 in 1980 was a 1970 454 SS black over red Monte Carlo. The Chevelle’s mostly overlooked and forgotten equal performance sister. Crazy torque and acceleration but not the best brakes or cornering - still, it was a dream car that I wish I still had today.
I seen a turbo charged MC at Englishtown NJ swap meet years ago. I was shocked to see it. Didn’t know that it was a factory option. Wish I would have bought it.
What an excellent presentation too bad you can't buy one new anymore from GM Chevrolet motor division
at 3:28 the 4.4 L 267 V8 I have one in my 1980 Chevy Malibu with a 5-speed manual a lot of people haven't heard of a 267 it was produced for four years 1979 to 1982 it's got the same stroke as a 350 which is a 3.48 but it's got a three and a half inch bore instead of a 4-in bore like a 350 or a 305 with a 3.736 bore the 1980 Malibu I have was purchased brand new in Montana so it's a 49 State Federal engine with no computer
as noted the 267 was not available in California
Interesting. I thought Buick was the only G body with a turbocharged 3.8L.
I did too
So did I.
Maybe more rare than a GNX.
All the GM G-Body models were optioned with the 3.8 Liter V-6 or the Turbo 3.8 Liter V-6. Both engines were produced by Buick Motor Division
Just for the record there were over 10 million 400 A&G bodies produced from 1978 to 88 amongst the five divisions of GM that produced them 1978 to 81A body 1982 to 88 G-Body
A lot of quality engineering went into the 1978 to 88 model run obviously the public like them that's why they sold so well agile full frame Construction and with Dimensions near that of a 62 to 67 Nova
I remember them as new vehicles when I was in high school back in 1978
Amazing how much of the 4-fendered style from the 73-77 that they brought over to this generation. 1980 was the first year for quad headlamps on this and the other siblings before the 1981 full refresh.
The T-Tops are awesome.
My sister had the 80’ Turbo, beautiful car and although slow off the line once you were in the boost it was quicker than the 305 Monte’s
Plus they make great lowriders;)
Engineering ahead of its time
Carpathian? Fantastic. 1:44
Simulated Carpathian Elm Burl! None of that fake "Corinthian" stuff.
Did they have to travel all the way to Transylvania To the Carpathian mountains to retrieve those premium selected materials that’s Count Draculas stomping grounds did he request a test drive in the new Monte Carlo ???
Motor week theme song
Thought it was the Orgazmo theme song. It's in that movie.
Several of these laserdiscs seem to have the same music as used on MotorWeek. I imagine there must have been some sort of royalty-free music source for both.
Awesome video too bad you can't buy one today new at 3:30 I have a 267 in my 1980 Chevy Malibu with a 5-speed manual from Montana there were over 10 400,000 G bodies built from the five subsidiaries of GM from 1978 to 88 too bad they didn't continue manufacturing such a fine automobile design not at also A BODY from 1978 to 81 G-Body from 1982 to 1988
Close , but not the same .
Trim exterior size! Lol. Definitely don't let your prospect try to parallel park that boat!
