    Loved the intro. I can confirm solid autofocus. And I stopped the video to comment so that I could comply with all the directives contained in the test. Now back to Orion.

    I should be getting my MSM kit in a couple of days. This video shows me exactly what I want to do for my next step. I live way out in the country, away from almost any light pollution, and I have a fantastic view of Orion from my front yard. I think I'll be trying this process real soon! Thanks much for this video.

    Hi, I have been shooting Orion and processing my shoots in this way with a few years. It would be interesting to hear your views on using the photoshop plugin StarXTerminator and using it to separate the stars for the nebulosity.

    Personally, I like the version with the trees and the mountains in.....superb! This tutorial is just excellent. I didn't know it was possible to extract that much detail and produce images of this quality with unmodified cameras.....this has been a real inspiration and motivation. Thank you!! :-)

    Great video.
    Do you use the internal noise reduction of the camera on such images.?
    How did you expose longer than 30 seconds, is it possible with Canon without switching to bulb mode?

      I do not use the internal noise reduction... and i either use a intervalometer and bulb mode or use the magic lantern softwear on my 6d

    How long did the set-up take? Would like to see more set-ups on the MSM.

      Once you get used to it, setting up the msm only takes a few minutes

    Alex, any reason you don't use Sequator to average your Orion images?

      I go back and forth between photoshop and sequator.... I've actually found that I like how photoshop handles "sky only" pictures. Sequator is still fantastic for stacking with foregrounds

    I have a lot to learn about Photoshop hahaha. I use free software right now, Darktable and Gimp. Might explore an Adobe subscription soon.

      @@chasingluminance I'm afraid to raise my ISO because I'm thinking it will washbaway any details and highlights will be blown out...if I'm using 50mm...will 1min exposure with 800ISO worknas a starting point? Thanks! Your videos helped me convince to get an MSM haha. Thanks!

      Depends on your f/stop. I'd suggest using your histogram to judge exposure. Camera screens can be deceiving

    I like having the video but I also like having written instructions. They don't need to be detailed just bullet points with a sentence or two for each step.
