This was Stone's best performance, ever. But who really surprised me was Mark Ruffalo, taking on a role totally different than anything he's ever done before... beautifully.

Ruffalo was actually a brilliant choice because his lack of experience and lack of confidence in playing such a villainous character gave his performance a stilted and unnatural vibe that fits the overall aesthetic of the film perfectly. He's uncomfortable in those scenes and we can feel it. It adds some humor to the film and keeps it from getting too dark.

Fully agree; spot on! And the "being uncomfortable" is actually SPOT on for the character of Duncan Wedderburn.

It’s the best performance of the year so far for me, but Lily Gladstone will be running in Best Actress and I’m not sure I can envision her losing given the strength of the performance, the acclaim she’s received, and the cultural significance of the academy awarding their first acting Oscar to a Native American which will 100% be a factor in their decision.

This movie was a trip but so beautifully done. The first little bit was so uncomfortable but that’s exactly the point! We saw it this afternoon and wanted to go back after dinner. We’ll be sure to this is at least once more in theater and then will be purchasing a hard copy as soon as it comes out. I hope they get all the awards.

Literally the best movie I've ever seen. I saw it twice already and seriously considering watching it a third time. Loved Emma, loved Ramy, loved Willem....absolutely LOVED Mark. Thanks to his inexperience in this type of role, he's the reason the movie doesn't become too dark. ❤

That's her name. Emily Jean Stone.. SAG prevented her from using her actual name because another actor had already registered the name. Clear.
