Day 17 today! I've managed Christmas and New Year and I'm very excited about the possibilities without alcohol. I'm so thankful for these videos. You had a miraculous escape, Steve, but what a terrible mistake that Dr made refusing to prescribe Daizapan for you. They could have saved a load of dosh for the NHS as well as saving you years of suffering. Best wishes.

I was a bond dealer in my 20's and early 30's, and socialising/heavy drinking was part of the job (the Boss would encourage it). This caused so many issues later in life - chronic dependence, months in hospital etc. I'm sober now, and enjoying life, but many of my old drinking mates are either dead or are still drinking and look worn out and sick.

I'll try post again as it doesn't seem my last comment showed up.
Basically I came close to a relapse, I even bought the 35cl bottle ready, I was preparing to drink that night and then all of a sudden, as if waking up from an intense dream the urge to drink drained away. I still have the bottle, I need to dispose of it.
Glad I didn't end up drinking, would have thrown 7 months down the drain. And a friendly reminder to everyone that cravings WILL pass. This one took me by surprise I must admit, it's been a while since I craved like that. Take time to remind yourself what is important guys, and look after yourselves. Thank you Steven for your videos.

I can count on two hands how many drinks ive had since July, never been addicted but just grew tired of accepting its part of life and social acceptance, the expense, always tired, itchy skin, poor sleep, poor diet, the anxious feel, the list goes on and on, all this from just being a regular drinker, not I need it drinker, it was just routine and habit. I look at people drinking together now and very often the only thing that provides an in common connection is alcohol.
Thanks for opening youself up to help others at rock bottom, I suggest help the rock bottom as your core, and also ask the "regulars" to check in with their own experience and ask themselves why?

Yes can relate so much the Madness I never had Rats but use to see them when I had the DTs and yes its a shame that people might listen to our experience strengh and hope with interest they are not going to stop until They reach a point of no return or just like me I had a window of opportunity and I grabbed it with both Hands , I chat to many people who are in this madness on a daily basis and as I type this I have recieved a message that 1 has passed away thats 4 I know this Week RIP . No one has the real Answer except that if you do not pick up that first drink you will never drink again and yes it takes a lot of will power some times but the urge will pass . If I come over as a bit hard its because I have seen so much grief and deaths over the last 16 Years and not forgetting the families and friends that get left behind Keep connected and do not pick up that first drink

Now while I don't agree with drinking at all now, especially children, maybe this would stop this British drinking culture of going to pubs until you vomit when you turn 18.
