    I used to think I shared some similarities to Scarlett Johansson therefore I thought I was a Soft Natural. But after focusing more on the test answers, turns out I'm actually a Theatrical Romantic

    Good video. Self-typing is way easier if you just look at the bone structure. I realized when I compared celebs standing next to each other how each bone structure looks different; and then I looked at a photo of myself standing next to a SG and SC, and determined I'm a SN. So much difference in the width / length of our bones. :)

    Thank you SO MUCH for this video! It's pretty frustrating to see other people typing people based on impressions/stereotypes of each Kibbe ID. Like gamines are cute, romantics are sexy, naturals are tomboyish, etc. Nooooo, that's not how it works. I've gotten typed as a Soft Gamine because people immediately see that I have big round eyes, a round nose, round cheeks, and small full lips... all "cute" features, I suppose. I have to proceed with high necklines, animated prints, and high contrast with caution because those tend to look off on me. I'm actually a Romantic, and even I will admit that it was hard for me to believe at first because I'm a size 0-2. My impression of Romantics was someone with big, in-your-face curves (not literally, but you know what I mean LOL) with a tiny waist like Marilyn Monroe or Beyonce. But the fact is, I have all yin and Romantic lines just work for me even though I'm quite slender.

    That's quite true. I have always been told I look like Katrin Zeta Jones who is SD. However I'm a SN. I do look like Katrin Zeta Jones more than say Selena Gomez, Scarlett Johanson, Aishwarya Rai or Katy Perry, especially physically. But despite the resemblance, it's nothing more than just that resemblance.

    Another example that comes to my mind is Grace Kelly a classic although from what saw from Aly Art Kibbe is moving away the strictly classic , natural and Gamine and he now classifies Grace Kelly as a soft classic. I just think many women could have a similar build to her but not relate her look and style.

    • @gittevandevelde2208

      Well, shit, I am a gamine. Not soft, not flamboyant, a pure gamine. 50/50 yin & yang.

    • @elyssa_aesthetic
      @elyssa_aesthetic  5 лет назад +10

      Kellie Gallagher yep, David has eliminated C, G and N. I keep them around and reference them as there still a lot of women who identify as those Image ID’s.
      And it’s so funny you bring that example up. I had a chick on Instagram that made a public statement about how the Kibbe system is bunk because according to the test she was a soft classic but she felt she looked nothing like Grave Kelly. It’s just disappointing to see women poo poo on Kibbe’s system when it’s actually a great tool to discover your personal style✨

    • @kellie8468
      @kellie8468 5 лет назад +11

      I personally can see how many women would still identify as a Classic, Natural or Gamine. I think it may be true they are not as common but I think there are women who would mostly identify with them.
      I have been going through your videos and I especially like the jeans and T shirts one. I think that is so helpful as this is how many of us dress much of the time. I could easily see what doesn’t look as good on me compared to what does work.
      Unfortunately Grace Kelly as a primary example may make many women miss their type . Not to criticize her .

    • @elyssa_aesthetic
      @elyssa_aesthetic  5 лет назад +9

      Kellie Gallagher yeah I’m definitely with you and that’s EXACTLY why I made this video. There little progress thy can be made if we’re using celebrities as our metric. The Kibbe system is designed for us to focus on ourselves.
      And thanks for the compliment! I think I could’ve done just a tad better on the white t and jeans videos but they were my first round so 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃 But I wanted to start off with that topic because everyone has these fantastic red carpet celebrity examples but it’s like......who the heck is dressing for a red carpet event everyday?? 😂 We need realistic garment examples 🤗

    • @kellie8468
      @kellie8468 5 лет назад +2

      Definitely! Relatable jeans , tops and dresses makes it easier to identify. Not many of us are on the red carpet or runway. It’s fun of course to look at them.
      I keep hearing it’s about the lines and it’s true and this video seems to be about that . You could feel like you have a Natural essence but your lines are classic so of course you don’t think Grace Kelly or her particular style.

    I've been thinking about this as well when, I know we're not supposed to look to celebrities (or even type others aka style influencers) but for the longest time it was hard for me to find women that I look similar to. Anyways, as a Soft Gamine I've noticed that Jenna Coleman is the prime representation of an SG. However, I don't look to her because she is different than me. I like that you use the word impression, I just use vibe lol. Personally I'd look to Winona Ryder or Joey King. Overall I'm trying to work on paying attention to my intuition in regards to what suits me.
    I just realized you're talking about something entirely different. 😄

    • @elyssa_aesthetic
      @elyssa_aesthetic  5 лет назад +9

      Silver Roxen I think you’re in the same vein of what I’m talking about. So here’s my perspective......AFTER we have figured out our physical yin/yang balance it can be helpful to reference celebrities that knowingly dress for their physical type. But this is why I’m huge on essence and tapping into some self discovery (what’s on the inside). I definitely relate style-wise with some SG more that than others. And this might be unpopular opinion but I don’t think that Jenna Coleman should be the poster child for SG. I’m sure there are some SG’s out there that feel like they’re not actually SG because they don’t look like Jenna Coleman. She certainly dresses well and is usually in harmony with her lines and shapes BUT let’s not forget....we’re not here to imitate celebs.....we’re here to discover our own style. I think we’re on the same page 😉

    • @kaidawisteria
      @kaidawisteria 4 года назад +2

      Same! I look nothing like Jenna Coleman, and her test answers aren't the same as mine, but we're both still SGs. I look to Brigitte Bardot because her body proportions are similar to mine! And our test answers are the same too.

    • @silverroxen2954

      Funnily enough, I'm now considering that fact that I might be another Image ID. I'm still working through the exercises in Strictly Kibbe, and haven't even gotten to the Line Sketch yet.

      @@kaidawisteria I'm curious. What results did you get on the quiz? I took it once and got A, E, and D. I've never taken it again because its not recommended by David Kibbe.

    • @kaidawisteria
      @kaidawisteria 4 года назад +1

      @@silverroxen2954 It was a mix! My facial bones were more Yang-leaning (B for cheekbones, E for nose and A for jawline), my facial features was more Yin (A for eyes, D for cheeks, E for lips). I got D for my shoulders and vertical line, and B for my arms, legs, hands and feet. And I got either D or E for my bust, waist, hips, flesh on arms, etc. The Yang I have as a SG is more Natural than Dramatic, which I find Jenna Coleman doesn't have, so I look to Brigitte Bardot as inspiration instead hehe.

    My most commonly mentioned celebrity look alikes are (by most frequently mentioned):
    Lucy Hale-soft gamine
    Mila Kunis-theatrical romantic
    While I will agree that I do have many similarities to them (especially Lucy) they are both different types than myself. I’ve also been told I sometimes look similar to Selena Gomez-soft natural and Emmy Rossum-unsure. The reasons people will think we look similar to celebrities can be due to face shape, facial expressions or features, hairstyles, coloring, height, body shapes, or even our voices, the way we act, etc. I can pinpoint most of the reasons people think I look similar to specific celebrities and I can differentiate why we don’t have the same body type. I am a romantic. When I first got into kibbe I thought I was a soft gamine and I looked to Lucy Hale and I thought “well on a monthly basis people come up to me to say I look like her and even I have scrolled through Instagram and had to do a double take at things she posted because I mistook it for myself but while we have a lot of similarities we also have plenty of differences of course, and I do believe I have some soft gamine essence and maybe a touch of soft gamine to my face but after awhile of researching I discovered that I am a romantic, and I suppose it does make sense because that would share some traits with soft gamine and even theatrical romantic, possibly even a bit of soft natural, so people will notice similarities. Even though there isn’t really a celebrity that I would consider myself to look like within the romantics (the only one that’s ever been mentioned is Elizabeth Taylor and it’s really just the body type and the coloring I believe) I can still identify the traits that most of us share as the same body type and the different ways they present themselves within each of us. It can be helpful and fun to know your celebrity look alikes but only if you take it with a grain of salt and really do your own digging into your individual type, essence and personal style. No two people with in the same body type are exactly alike after all.

    I recognized directly that I was a Soft Natural by remove all the other types that didn't match my appearance. I'm definetly not any of dramatics, classics, romantics or gammines. Nor natural because of my body softness nor flaboyant natural because I'm rather short. Many women don't reconize their type because they compare themselves with other. For exempel I and my mother look very similar to each other at the first glimpse. She is a Teatrical Romantic as Selma Hayek.

      Karla Cedeño you’re definitely not alone! I think the best thing is to start building a connection with your wardrobe rather than stressing too much over which image ID you are. Also, I didn’t include this in my video but David no longer includes pure Natural, Classic and Gamine in his system anymore. So if it’s down to FN and FG I think it’ll come down to your vertical line 😉 Of course I’m not David Kibbe, but this light be a new angle of approach.

      @@elyssa_aesthetic thank you so much for answering, in that case I guess if flamboyant gamine I'm 5"3 sometimes people guess I'm taller but not that much. Again thank you for the advice I will try it! 🖤

    • @MoPoppins
      @MoPoppins 3 года назад

      I’ve narrowed my guesses down to FN & FG, as well! Glad I came across your comment.
      I’ve got the physical description of a FN body type (broad shoulders, big hands & feet, blunt angles, free-spirited), but I’m most drawn to FG fashion, and can also pull off separates that a high-schooler would wear, despite being in my mid-40s. I like that punkish, skater girl vibe, but also glam looks. “Girly tomboy” and “cute but tough” fit my style mood descriptions. I always want to be comfy, w/o sacrificing cuteness, and I like youthful styling. I can’t relate one bit to the “Misses” section of clothing stores. They look like they’re for women who have NO personal identity, have given up on life, and will always be invisible and never individuated.
      I’m just under 5’2”, and people apparently think I’m about 5’6”….or at least up to that height, and this is regardless of that person’s height (some have been 6’4”, and they were still surprised when I told them my actual height, after they thought I was much taller. One guy said that I became shorter & smaller as I got closer). My sister says I look 5’4”. I have the face & head of a taller person.
