superior engine and drs? or was it because verstappen missed the apex lol... if it was purely do to engine and drs rosberg would've overtaken him there on the first attempt he made, which failed of course
You are mistaken. Verstappen did not "mis the apex" because he was driving defensive lines and therefore deciating from the regular racing lines. Mind you, in the entire race I saw only two overtakes without DRS: Alonso and Verstappen.
I like Nico and I really miss him cuz he gave us good battles with Lewis but in 2016 he pushed Lewis to the limit with a little help of reliabilty issues that hurted Lewis a lot, by contrast, Max pushed Lewis to the limit and to the very last lap, even with misfortune in Baku, and Silverston and Hungary
was about to make the same point, Maxs defending is quite amazing, you see how good the red bull is through the corners in this footage, if not for DRS, Nico wouldnt have got past. Maxs positioning of the car was near perfect until the he went wide through turn 10, nico took 8 , 9, 10 and 11 perfectly. Think I got my turns right :)
Insane view, it makes you understand that they are driving the shit outta these cars...Max's lines are insane and probably faster than nico he just got caught
It has got to be said, he's chasing greatness because his box of tricks is too limited. Max knows what he's going to do almost everytime: choosing the outside before Stowe. Nico is not creative enough, Lewis often forces other drivers into defending because of unconventional driving and lines. That's what's making the difference as well.
incredible! Equally incredible is Max at 18 yrs of age, his 6th race in a Red Bull, still took Second in front of that years world champ, Nico Rosberg.
cuando lo estaba por pasar ya habia estudiado la vuelta y despues diooo todoo doblo en las curvas reeee al limite impresionante piloto fu a todo pero lo genial es como doblo esas curvas al limite de revoluciones fuaa que crack
Ewoud SVG is right, and F1 drivers never brake while turning, you brake before you reach the vertex if you keep braking after the vertex obviously everything will lock up.
Hamilton had about 7-8 mechanical failures that season with most of them ruining his qualifying and sending him to the back of the grid as a result of taking new parts, ( also lost 25 points in Malaysia due to engine failure ). Yet after all that he closed the gap to just 5 points and took it to Abu Dhabi, Hamilton could’ve wrapped the title up with races to go.
Correct me if I'm wrong but won't going into 2nd gear while taking corners give you more power on the exit? why does rosberg stay on 3rd all the time. I mean I can see verstappen pulling away out of every corner
Ben MACQ harder on the gearbox and even though the shifts are lightning quick you still lose time shifting down and then shifting back up and also second gear is a slower speed so if you staying third and are smooth on the power you're better off on these types of long rounded curves these aren't 90 degree turns if this makes sense
Really? so how comes Hamilton couldn't do the same to Verstappen at Suzuka with the same car combination as this, also Hamilton had tyres 5-6 laps newer as well, it's not that easy against Max.
DRS is designed to make up the time lost to dirty air, people seem to forget that. If nico was to keep pace over a lap he would have to push harder and ruin his tyres without drs. He only gets the overtake with drs because his car is faster overal so doesnt lose the time in dirty air the way an equal car would
Sarov452 Problem is that the theory in practice often doesn't work. It exaggarates the speed between cars when tyre life is an issue. It's impossible to defend against that. My own implementation of DRS works far better than this crap. At least then you have to make an actual effort to get past.
I like the onboard videos from 2014 to 2016 much better, the driver had a lot of work to do with the steering wheel. Now all cars are glued to the track, it's just a matter of which car is more on rails than the other cars but pretty much the drivers just cruise around.
Only because Verstappen got stuck in traffic Rosberg got back at Verstappens tail. And even after that it took Rosberg many laps to finally get passed Max, simply because the tires of Max wore out faster than Nico's since Max is faster in the corners. Imagine what would be if Max was in the Mercedes. Rosberg simply was no match. A faster car, ladies and gentleman, is the only reason why Rosberg got passed Max.
BaBeLoo BaDoo I disagree. I think Verstappen is probably the most difficult driver on the grid to overtake. Hamilton couldn't overtake him in Japan. Rosberg did a good job.
BaBeLoo BaDoo I can tell from your comment that you know nothing about formula one , first of all the reason why Rosberg caught up to Max wasn't because of the traffic , Rosberg was way quicker than Max and that's why he built up a five second gap after he passed him. Another thing is they were both conserving their tyres but Nico did a better job at it because he also had to close the gap to Lewis who was conserving too since he was alone at the front.
Hülkenberg is not as good as Max, close to Max, but not as talented. Rosberg was a mean bastard, who tells lie after lie, pushes drivers of the track and afterwards make up false excuses. i.e. Lewis in Austria, Max in Hockenheim and in Mexico after the wheelbang with Max he first steered to the right (back to the track) and when he saw Max was ahead of him, he cut the corner. Later saying he was pushed out of the track. However video images don't lie.....
those aren't cup cars. Without DRS you could never overtake due to teh aero package unless teh car just outclasses the other by mile. Go back to your playstation
Verstappen. I've seen him defend in a very dirty way numerous times all year yet in Singapore I heard him on the radio crying when He had a driver defending against him. I think it was one of the Torro Rosso drivers Kyvat maybe. Funny how that works. He has been warned numerous times to cool it yet when he gets a taste of his own BS he cries about it. It's what I expect from a kid his age.
He even said he was frustrated with himself he couldn't get passed. He wasn't talking about Kvyat's moves. That was world class defending by Kvyat, the same way Verstappen defends. And like Schumacher, Hakkinen, Senna, Prost and all the greats used to defend.
Erike1999 OK.. but in the mean time we have seen that the renault engines have caught up with the merc engines. I'm not so sure the difference is that large anymore. Still, ok point taken.
So you mean that the drivers who have better cars aren't the better drivers? Interesting. I agree with you but tell me something. Would you say that if Schumacher was in Rosberg's place? I think not! I mean Michael had by far the best car in Ferrari, but people don't question his titles based on that. Perhaps they should be. Anyway, I agree with AlternativeDesign. The difference between mercedes and red bull this year isn't that big so that's not really a problem in this case.
Its cleary a fact that the mercedes is faster then the Reb bull car, I think what erike wants to say is that if Max would drive in the Mercedes car he would out drive him.
Wow! A more experienced driver with a faster car managed to overtake them with DRS. Fockin hell! How does he do it?!? Like come on, he's a shut driver who has a car that doesn't blow up on him like Lewis. P.s vestapen is slot better than nico and possibly even Lewis
Rossi the Bossi hardly, red bull have NEVER had a car with the highest top speed, yet the managed 4 titles with it and a few more win here and there, and Mercedes have the fastest F1 car even, and Rosberg, apparently the best driver in the world, over took a young, inexperienced driver in a slower can and he had DRS. @@Prince_Vegeta_BMW but Rosberg even had the same car...
@@Prince_Vegeta_BMW max had a worse car
I like Nico and I really miss him cuz he gave us good battles with Lewis but in 2016 he pushed Lewis to the limit with a little help of reliabilty issues that hurted Lewis a lot, by contrast, Max pushed Lewis to the limit and to the very last lap, even with misfortune in Baku, and Silverston and Hungary
Would love to see a 86,96,06, and 16 car all race or do a hot lap around a course to see how they have changed over the years.
Great stuff!!!
Amazing footage. I'm not in the car but my heart is pounding nevertheless.
World class defending by Verstappen, unlucky that Mercedes is just so much faster, especially on a fast track like Silverstone.
was about to make the same point, Maxs defending is quite amazing, you see how good the red bull is through the corners in this footage, if not for DRS, Nico wouldnt have got past. Maxs positioning of the car was near perfect until the he went wide through turn 10, nico took 8 , 9, 10 and 11 perfectly. Think I got my turns right :)
He defended just like every other driver would do. And Rosberg's overtake was a great move from the outside
Hay que ser muy buen piloto para estar en ese deporte, genial como rebasan a esas velocidades.
That overtake was epic
The thing holding back redbull in these years was the weaker Renault engine
Nice Rosberg...
It’s great to see how good Nico was and obviously very smart driver as well.
Interesting to see the contrast in lines through Luffield, Nico preferring a tight line and Max preferring the double apex.
Comment section full of verstapen fanboys trying their hardest to make this overtake look average
- Sandiha On f1 terms the overtake looks average, since it was nothing spectacular.
Christian Sawaya it is average, faster car and with drs
333 km/h while overtaking! Hmm...
About time
Two of the best.
The current gen cars look like bloated land whales compared to the cars of the past.
Max is no joke.
care to retract this statement after today!
+Rossi the Bossi hahaha. no reason he shouldve dive bombed like that on turn 1.
love that camera.
I love how we all replayed that oversteer moment at the end of the lap
Insane view, it makes you understand that they are driving the shit outta these cars...Max's lines are insane and probably faster than nico he just got caught
Chasing Greatness: The Nico Rossberg Story. 😂
Lmao
xD
It has got to be said, he's chasing greatness because his box of tricks is too limited. Max knows what he's going to do almost everytime: choosing the outside before Stowe. Nico is not creative enough, Lewis often forces other drivers into defending because of unconventional driving and lines. That's what's making the difference as well.
+Jejking yes, you said it, hamilton forces off the track nico and other drivers
Nil Cortines
I didn't say that, don't put words in my mouth kthx.
incredible! Equally incredible is Max at 18 yrs of age, his 6th race in a Red Bull, still took Second in front of that years world champ, Nico Rosberg.
cuando lo estaba por pasar ya habia estudiado la vuelta y despues diooo todoo doblo en las curvas reeee al limite impresionante piloto fu a todo pero lo genial es como doblo esas curvas al limite de revoluciones fuaa que crack
I remember when the V10 cars would take Stowe in qualifying. Man it's a different world now smh...
Yet if I tried to brake like Rosberg does in the game everything locks up and I can't turn...
That's because it doesn't show how much brake force is being applied, only that they are being applied.
Ewoud SVG is right, and F1 drivers never brake while turning, you brake before you reach the vertex if you keep braking after the vertex obviously everything will lock up.
where do you get such a long on board footage with the hud etc xD It's nice to see how fast they are going through the corners. It's just mindblowing.
HardstyleBeats_Mixr there is a TV program that shows races from onboard.
Nico very smart and talented F1 Driver. Big fan of his dad Keke
Rosberg is the fking best ! Im his #1 fan And He deserves to Win this season.
Good for you!
What game is it ?
this is in real life
This is F1 2025 on Playstation 10

Fantastic onboard
The whistle of that damn engine!!
Correct me if I'm wrong but won't going into 2nd gear while taking corners give you more power on the exit? why does rosberg stay on 3rd all the time. I mean I can see verstappen pulling away out of every corner
You have less wheelspin in higher gears, so Rosberg was probably saving his tyres a bit in the slow corners.
The torque are comparatively higher on the lower gears than something from 2013.
Ben MACQ red bulls are one of the cars with the most grip so nico had to do it om the straight because redbulls are insane in corners
Der Aggregator indeed mercedes top speed is pretty fast.
Only because of a way faster car
Not in dirty air (thankfully).
and drs
Really? so how comes Hamilton couldn't do the same to Verstappen at Suzuka with the same car combination as this, also Hamilton had tyres 5-6 laps newer as well, it's not that easy against Max.
DRS is designed to make up the time lost to dirty air, people seem to forget that. If nico was to keep pace over a lap he would have to push harder and ruin his tyres without drs. He only gets the overtake with drs because his car is faster overal so doesnt lose the time in dirty air the way an equal car would
Sarov452
Problem is that the theory in practice often doesn't work. It exaggarates the speed between cars when tyre life is an issue. It's impossible to defend against that. My own implementation of DRS works far better than this crap. At least then you have to make an actual effort to get past.
i prefer the normal onboard camera . Anyway nice video
A faster car, ladies and gentleman, is the only reason why Rosberg got passed Max.
yeah, THIS time. we all know RB is faster on wet tracks like Monaco this year. but if it's dry rosberg would have made his move much earlier.
BaBeLoo BaDoo fuck Max, Nico is the best
Hülkenberg is not as good as Max, close to Max, but not as talented. Rosberg was a mean bastard, who tells lie after lie, pushes drivers of the track and afterwards make up false excuses. i.e. Lewis in Austria, Max in Hockenheim and in Mexico after the wheelbang with Max he first steered to the right (back to the track) and when he saw Max was ahead of him, he cut the corner. Later saying he was pushed out of the track. However video images don't lie.....
awfull hoover sound..
3 laps to overtake Max, what a great defense from Max.
Goosebumbs man..
Just another DRS overtake...i don't see why they think this is more exciting to watch...rather see them overtaking with SKILLS
Mick Rumping Just skills? seriously?
lol did you even realize it took him more than just one lap?
Yes I got it. How about doing the same with force India car?
those aren't cup cars. Without DRS you could never overtake due to teh aero package unless teh car just outclasses the other by mile. Go back to your playstation
They should al least reduce the amount of time a driver can use DRS. On silverstone it's not even that bad but on some circuits, it's too simple.
It's what I expect from a kid his age.
you're damn right!
Marco Walther I disagree. I think he was referring to a particular defensive move
Motogpfan you are Italian?
motogpfan46rossi Hater
He even said he was frustrated with himself he couldn't get passed. He wasn't talking about Kvyat's moves. That was world class defending by Kvyat, the same way Verstappen defends. And like Schumacher, Hakkinen, Senna, Prost and all the greats used to defend.
Gracias.
Reminds me of Silverstone 1993 where Senna kept Prost behind for quite some time in a much slower car
Eargasm
srsly?
Only passed him because the mercedes is faster...
gosh, what a waste! You should be commenting on TV... you're a genius!
I mean it's because the car is better, driver isn't better.
Erike1999
OK.. but in the mean time we have seen that the renault engines have caught up with the merc engines.
Um garoto começando a carreira segurando um experiente...q viria a ser campeão,SUPER MAX!!
seeing this hud again in 2022 after 6 years I have to say I miss it looks more clean and less bs on the screen
Wow! A more experienced driver with a faster car managed to overtake them with DRS. Fockin hell! How does he do it?!? Like come on, he's a shut driver who has a car that doesn't blow up on him like Lewis. P.s vestapen is slot better than nico and possibly even Lewis
jmoth 99 very limited understanding of f1. please go and watch another sport, Thankyou.
He's probably watched 3 races.
Rossi the Bossi he is totally right u wankers
***** *you
Rossi the Bossi hardly, red bull have NEVER had a car with the highest top speed, yet the managed 4 titles with it and a few more win here and there, and Mercedes have the fastest F1 car even, and Rosberg, apparently the best driver in the world, over took a young, inexperienced driver in a slower can and he had DRS. Mate, clearly the overtake of the century innit
that race i was screaming go Nico! go Nico!
So damn awesome!!!
The guy ahead of him really knew how to exit corners. Id be scared sh*tless to be chasing at those speeds, let alone just driving those machines!
'The guy ahead of him' is the current F1 champion Max Verstappen: the youngest F1 GP winner ever and soon to become the youngest double WDC title holder.
Bellissimo...che forza Rosberg
Still in awe of how fast F1 goes through Maggots Becketts.
this sounds like my son when he wakes up when teething. love this!
Clean!
reminds me of chess. strategy and patience is key when overtaking in F1
go nico! sheer class
Look at his knuckles and how they fit into the cockpit frame… 😳
