Whelen's new "pedestrian moving" siren tones - Wail-C & Yelp-C - with and without Howler

  • Whelen's programmable light & siren systems offer 2 (relatively) new tones - Wail-C and Yelp-C. And oh boy.. they hurt, especially the super high pitched wail! Those should be absolutely fantastic against stubborn pedestrians 😁 I recommend using speakers (and if possible a deep bass) for the best experience! 😄
    This video was made in partnership with Blue Lights Berlin, the German Whelen distributor. His RUclips channel: / bluelightsberlin
    The light and siren system on the BLB demo unit is a Whelen CenCom Carbide which has approximately 65 different (including country specific) siren tones.
    Wail-C and Yelp-C are available with the Whelen Command software for the following light & siren systems:
    - Cantrol WC - Gen 3 and Gen 2
    - Carbide
    - CenCom Core
    - HHS3200 and HHS4200
    - Sapphire
    If you want to easily play around with custom lightbars, flash patterns and siren tones you can do so with the Whelen Command software which can be downloaded at the Whelen website (for free): www.whelen.com...

    Would be awesome if they came up with a way to do a field upgrade on older models so they don’t have to replace everything at a higher expense.

      Are you referring to a certain model? I’ve recently added a few newer features / workarounds to a customers HHS4200 file and I can also add the Wail-C tone. Whelen provides updates to older systems through the Command software. It all depends on what system and functions we’re talking about.

      @@toreou From my experience from 12 years I'd say that Whelen has by far the best warning lights. Although I can understand that people like Federal Signal for some unique lighting products like the Valor. Back in the rotator and strobe days there were plenty of interesting manufacturers. Nowadays everyone switched over to LED's. You can actually create halogen, rotator and strobe effects with Whelen lights. As for sirens: taste is very different but Federal Signal always had their unique tones that people would remember over decades. There are plenty of FedSig sirens that I like but I'm also a huge fan of numerous Whelen sirens and especially Whelen's fully programmable Core light & siren system which is just one of the best inventions in the emergency vehicle light & siren market.

      Whelen has multiple Italian sirens on their programmable systems. Those systems have a total of around 65 - 70 different (including country specific) siren tones 😁

      Richtig, durch den Howler spürt man es auch gut. Das wail ist auch mega unangenehm, wenn man davor steht. Sollte sich besonders gut auch bei denjenigen eignen, die denken, dass man unnötig noch direkt vor einem Einsatzfahrzeug gemütlich über die Straße laufen kann. 😁

    In Pakistan our highway patrol have legacy bars on their cruisers
    They are extremely bright really impressive but i think its a very bad distraction they literally blinding even in night mode, emergency lights shouldn't be above 10,000 candelas, they should be between 8000 to 10,000 just my opinion

    • @Rummeltobi
      @Rummeltobi  Год назад

      What? 😮 I'm extremely surprised to read that and to see that this is true! Thank you very much for telling this! I'd have never expected that. Do you know if they're using the programmable WeCan version?
      All they'd have to do is set/ program a low power option to the lightbars which reduces light intensity. Theoretically, this could be hooked up to the headlights so that the lightbar automatically dims when the headlights are on or via the use of the light sensor (if Highway Patrol in Pakistan ordered them with the Legacy lightbars). Turning off some LED modules would be another option to (further) decrease any blinding effects at night.

    • @Rummeltobi
      @Rummeltobi  Год назад

      @@thunderbear0 The problem with non-WeCan Whelen lightbars is that you can't program them. They're analog and basically all you can do is change flash patterns via a cable. Do you work for highway patrol in Pakistan?
      I do offer programming services and assistance with the choice of lights & the light layout and I'm always happy to help people and agencies. In case you/ anyone who reads that has interest, I can also be contacted via email: RTobiYT@gmail.com

      @@Rummeltobi no i dont work for them but I'll keep your email, if i get a chance to meet with highway patrol officials or their outfitters I'll talk with them about you
      We also have whelen dealership, probably they have wecan stuff in stock but i dont know, that dealer ship is like 800km away from me, and another problem is, here outfitters and highway patrol officials have almost no knowledge about lights and their technology, they are like its whelen its bright its quality its good without knowing what's the potential or functions these bars have and can do, and now every highway user hate these patrol cars lol

    • @Rummeltobi
      @Rummeltobi  Год назад

      @@thunderbear0 Thanks!
      Who knows, maybe they'll buy WeCan lightbars (or even WeCanX & Core systems) in the future. Although programmable WeCan lightbars and maybe HHS4200 systems would already be absolutely exceptional for Pakistan. It's unfortunate that officials and even installers don't have much actual knowledge about lights and sirens but this is a problem that I'm seeing all around the world. There's so much potential and so many safety benefits with WeCan and other programmable Whelen systems.
      I mean given the circumstances, it's better to be slightly "blinded" by those lights at night and seeing those vehicle from miles during sunny days than not seeing stopped police vehicles which are equipped with invisible Asian lights with questionable quality 😄

    Why? If they won't move for regular tones, why do they think they'll move for these? Looks like a solution in search of a problem.

    • @Rummeltobi
      @Rummeltobi  3 года назад +10

      Because this siren hurts. If you're in front the emergency vehicle as a pedestrian you automatically want to cover your ears and hope that the noise disappears quickly. Otherwise the siren feels like somebody is directly whistling into your ears. it's the shrill sound and the frequency of the long wail that makes you go 'eeeeeww' and this is why I believe that this tone will make pedestrians move - probably not all but at least much more than normal sirens would. Try it yourself. Use good loudspeakers on your computer, turn the volume up so that the siren tone is really loud and listen to it.
      There are enough stupid and ignorant pedestrians but that depends on the area/ city/ country too. Generally spoken pedestrian traffic in Europe for example is much higher than in the US. Then again there are hundreds of videos from NYC where you see people calmly walking in front of responding emergency vehicles. I would love to see anyone trying this tone vs. pedestrians because only this will give both of us a solid answer 😁
