    Heres another tip for you folks - Always, and I mean Always match the armor accents. Dont be mixing silver trimmed arm guards with a bronze trimmed chest piece. Its an eyesore.

      It really is a shame all armor only has one dye slot. How I wish they'd expand on every armor piece in the game, and give them up to 4 slots (whatever is reasonable for the piece, some legit only need the one slot.)

    I feel like the most overlooked aspect of glamour is weapons - so often they're just thrown on as an afterthought. I consciously try to built an outfit to complement or match my cool looking weapons.

      I've fantasia'd a good bit in this game, so it's a hard-learned lesson for me... many of my favorite glams have more or less been ruined by swapping races! On the other hand, some races just REALLY shine in certain things, so it all balances out (I like to think).

      I play a Femroe and while leveling initially as BLM I was so disappointed by how some robes, especially dress-style ones hung on my character compared to the silhouette they'd cut on my brother's female Mi'qote. But when I went MCH at 50 one of the things I was really struck by was how *amazing* long coats look on her. *That* silhouette is perfect.

    I have a white mage set that is based around the Neo-Ishgardian chest, a fairly generic piece, and I made it into a dress. I've gotten a lot of whispers about it even though it's a very popular chestpiece and dresses are pretty common in FF14, but because it's a mash-up of different things to make the theme, it looks unique and stands out.

    Last time I ran Aglaia, I got four pieces of glam. Four! Healing gloves and boots, aiming top, and a bonus casting top that nobody else rolled on. While I am not a big fan of gold and said Panthean gear features gold trim, (except the scouting set), it does dye amazingly well, and has a nice metallic sheen by default. I was always a bit salty that healers and casters didn't have many options for stylish armored looks, so the Abyssos/Purgatory, Panthean, and Radiant sets have been my favorites so far.

    I've honestly enjoyed messing around with glams as a lala, steering away from helmets because big head and heavy armours because tiny body has seen me use circlets, glasses, bandanas, masks and some of the more stylish, if impractical body pieces when I would normally go for what fits the role I'm playing most.
    Granted I haven't moved on to Heavensward yet so Longstop, ARR hard dungeons and Ironworkds are what I've got to work with at the moment, I still find it pretty enjoyable.

    • @specstreTV
      @specstreTV  2 года назад +1

      I actually completely agree! Lala has pieces it can rock that no one else can, and I'd argue BIG HATS are one of them. No other race looks nearly as good in a massive witch hat, and I think that's largely because of the head scaling. Great point! :D

I'm a pretty old old-fashioned fashion gal and no player uses the cheap dress from the golden saucer that you see on so many NPCs, so I end up standing out when I throw on some cute accessories and walk through town. So far in my Final Fantasy journey the hardest job to glam is Paladin if your going for a full-armor, traditional vibe. If your going that direction it's only going to look good if you go hard into all aspects of it. Do the limb pieces have plating that fits the general fitting of the breastplate? Does the shield and/sword match the theming and more often enough the colors of your body gear? I'm not as familiar with helms so I'm not sure if they can have goofy sizes compared to pieces outside their sets, but head accessories can either compliment what's going on below or be a complete hindrance. Although I haven't messed with the headslot too much, just kept some wing pieces on that compliments long hair... which I have to go spend 2k every time I want to switch between it and my short hair style because either one compliments different jobs; I hope for hair glamour slots every expansion.

    • @specstreTV
      @specstreTV  2 года назад +2

      I can totally see this. Getting a good, cohesive plate set can be really hard, especially if you're earlier in the game and don't have a lot of options. I'm not sure what level you're at, but Shadowbringers had a couple amazing plate pieces that slotted well together even across tiers (Edenmorn, I think--maybe Edengate?--and Cryptlurker). But even those are... a little anime in just HOW decorative they are, so to your point, that can make it difficult to achieve a "traditional" armor theme.
      And yes, great point about hats! Hair glamour would be super interesting.

    • @specstreTV

      Yes LOL, not every glam was made equal in the eyes of the Twelve… I like EC as a place to brainstorm ideas for specific pieces rather than copy full sets, but your experience was very valid and very common… sometimes, ordering by “Loves” helps and can show some highlights for any given piece, but no guarantee that doesn’t lead you to more 2B leggings…

    What a fantastic video, i myself is a glam freak since if i see something that i want i will grind till i have it, or have the money to buy it, but i also got obsessed with jet black colouring since the Nier raid sets look so damn good with it, so my wallet wont like it much, oh and the obsession of looking good has also slowed down my MSQ progress since every expansion offer you something cool to grind so my friend is not too pleased with me since he's been waiting in endwalker for about 3 months but i just finished shadowbringers (5.0) and damn the eden raid sets look cool....so surely a small grind wont hurt!

    If you play with gshade enabled, don't design your glams with it turned on. EC has a lot of posted glamours that don't hold up well without the filters. Colors don't match even when using the same dye, textures stand out more, etc, etc. Great ideas with poor execution, imo.

    • @specstreTV
      @specstreTV  2 года назад +2

      Very good point! Always so sad seeing a great set on EC and then finding only disappointment when you try it on in-game... Gshade makes for pretty screenshots and I love using a gameplay filter to take out that beige filter on the vanilla game, but it's the enemy of good universal glams for sure.

      Thank you!! :D Heavensward is around when dungeon sets start to be pretty damn good imo, so you're at the perfect slot. Depending on what you're interested in and what role you play, a lot of the level 60 dungeons have some really good stuff-Xelphatol, Sohm Al Hard, the Lost City of Amdapor Hard, Saint Mocianne's Arboretum... there's some definitely good ones. Some have slightly spoilery titles, so I don't want to go into those, but if you're willing to scroll through some pages of pure pictures, check out Eorzea Collection and go to "Gearsets."
      Rather than player made sets, that has a catalogue of all proper tier sets made by Square, and you can filter to "Dungeon Drops" and then by level to see what sets are around you. That's been super helpful for me in the past! :D

      @@zoshnel Yeah, I think this may be why a lot of robes, especially somewhat shorter "dress" style robes are such a disappointment on femroes, but longcoats (such as often offered to MCH) really sing.

    Being a lala DRK trying to make a good looking glamour is next level pain

    • @specstreTV
      @specstreTV  2 года назад +3

      I understand completely... I was a lala once before, and while a lot of caster glams looked AMAZING (I love witch hats on lalas, they look so funny in a good way), any time I wore plate or heavier armor I felt... downright silly. Life is hard as a lala, but you're fighting the good fight.

      Play Hyur so can't comment much on Lala's issues, but I did have trouble coming with a good Dark Knight glam a while back. My breakthrough was realising that there is a Nodachi DRK weapon in Stormblood and from there creating a Samurai inspired glam for my Dark Knight using mostly the Arhat Fending set, minus the helmet as I don't like that (I use a eyepatch instead).
      Don't know how that would look on a Lala, but it is a very different style for a DRK so might be worth a look.

      @@TheTriforceDragon sounds dope, i ended up completely ditching the drk edgy aesthetic and go with something more like an anime gladiator vibe, using the first lvl90 crafted chestpiece dyed dark green and cronus lux dyed golden as the centerpieces of the glam

    If I see one person with a similar glam to me, I make a new one.
    EC is a great spot for me to see what everyone else is using so I can go.a different direction.

      I'd recommend checking out Eorzea Collection's "Gearsets" page! (link:ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearsets)
      It will show you MOST sets in the game, and if it's not on there, then unfortunately you will have to wait for them to someday make what you're looking for. You could always participate in the next concept art event for glamours? :D

    As a male viera glam is pain, since I'm stuck with only glasses and masks

    • @specstreTV
      @specstreTV  2 года назад +2

      I understand completely... since making this video, I swapped to male viera, and... while I like it a lot, I want some damn hats. Here's my problem-shouldn't we logically be the BEST race for having super tall witch hats? How is the hat part staying 3ft in the air for every other race? For us, the ears would be the support. Square Enix, make it make sense.
