After watching this video, just now, I got a Takstar SGC-598 for $14 on Amazon. Some sort of Flash Sale. I love getting good deals on Audio. I did professional engineering and system design in years past. Your audio quality in your videos is outstanding. Better than RUclipsrs that have set up their visible boom stands with the brand name printed on the stand attached to a $400 Shure 7b mic. You have the professionalism of studio directors. Mic splitter is a good idea. I've used a little mixer as well. Like: Saramonic SR-AX100 Passive Dual Channel Camera Mixer. I think it's about $40

I've been using the sgc 600 for all my outdoor shooting. It's great but you do need the dead cat filter
Thanks for watching and commenting Altamis. Yes you are right but you would generally need that with any shotgun mic. I took the dead cat I was using with my sgc-598 and just cut it a little to fit the sgc-600. Works great.

The SGC-598 was a work horse for real. I think you just need a trs adapter for mobile phones if
i am not mistake. They are just a few bucks, but I can't remember the exact name at the moment...

Is it good at picking up sounds from a little further away? I'm looking for a cheap mic for wildlife videography and it'd need to be decent for recording birds singing etc.
It's best when a foot away but might be able to get decent sounds of surroundings. At $30 it's worth a shot in my opnion

is this mic good for weddings run and gun ?
It can get the job done but wouldn't be ideal. I think a lav mic would be better. The Godox and most other similarly priced shotgun are great at close range but don't do so well when place a few feet away.

What do you think about the new takstar vs the mke 440? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Honestly I never used that Mic before. The best way to go about it would be to listen to my audio and compare it to another video where they are using the mke 440. Hope that helps!

Hi Fulaan, thanks for the video. I got a tacstar mic but it is not working, the mic itself turns on but when I plug it into my camera (canon eos r7) all I hear is static. I turned on manual audio but it still doesn’t work. Any ideas? 🙂

Yes it is. You should be able to plug it right into the R10 no problem. It must be a damaged unit. I'd send it back and get a replacement.

Currently running EOS 5D III on magic lantern, how do you think this Takstar compared to Zoom H1n recorder or even Boya mics if you have tried it?
The takstar mic is unbeatable for the price in my opinion. The zoom H1n is a recorder which you would plug your mic into so not directly comparable to a mic. The boya mics are also good value for money

you would need a headphone jack on the device that is doing the recording or an audio interface that also allows you to monitor your audio.
