No one could replace such a master of. Words. I found him when i was. 10yrr old so very. Lucky. To have. Listened to masterey.thanks for your time . D Slater.Wales.U.K.
When I knew this gentle man he was still a student at McGill university and writing poetry. We had dinner together a few times and he read his poetry to me. I was a good listener and this was what he needed at the time. He treated me with respect. I remember him well.
And you always will of that I'm sure. I have memories of some pretty fantastic significant incidents in my life that I cherish. Some very famous people too. Knowing Leonard like you did and experiencing the budding genius would be right up there for me. You lucky duck!
I have loved this man for nigh on 50 years, He and his music were such a big part of my life, I cried when he died, wish he was still here. R.I.P Leonard The song is over but the melody lingers on
This is the first time I’ve heard Chelsea Hotel 1!!! I always wondered what the first version sounded like. Thank you so much for putting this up….I love it. God, how I miss this man…🌹
What a joy and a thrill to be able to enjoy 'The other songs of Leonard Cohen'. Need to hear more of this genius I have loved since I was 17 years old. I'm calling today Leonard Cohen Day. Fortyone years of golden entertainment.
Karma, Leonard heard me, just the other day as i was crying sadly thinking of that awful "week" the news kept private for the family, I honour, the memorial thing each year and I happened to be listening to NIcolas Cage singing this -never tired or schmalzy, a perfect love song, to Laura Dern in Wild at Heart, wishing I could hear Leonard sing it! Now here it is- I miss him so...
I listened to Lenard Cohen with my boyfriend, whilst I was in my teens at an all boys boarding school, most evenings and these songs bring back wonderful memories of the middle 60’s when I was in my teens. I discovered girls when I left school in 1968, but I still treasure my many school boyfriends and Lenard Cohen songs. I love this!!
I always knew that he wanted write blues but never realized he has written as many. Founded by accident when I heard The Blues by the Jews which is absolutely lovely.
Каждый альбом и новые песни.Как жалко ,,что я услышала его так поздно,мне уже за 60,слушаю каждый день.И как печально,что Леонард Куин покинул этот мир.Но он жив ,жив в своих песнях.Он оставил своё творчество в истории
MY GOODNESS... JESUS... 😲🤯😲🤯 i mean.... THOSE BACKING VOCALS on this live version of CHELSEA HOTELl!! .... WOW!!!!!! It's mesmerizing... It gave me the chills.... it's absolutely INCREDIBLE Those two ladies voices together...mmm!!! I MUST know their NAMES!! That was monumental. When one of them starts singing in the higher octave.... man.... 😲🤯😲🤯 it's unreal... Leonard likes to use backup vocalists for his live sets. Which personally doesn't ever do much for me to be honest but those two ladies.... on that song.... INCREDIBLE I'm speechless. WHAT A PERFORMANCE! Can anyone help me out in finding who they are??? I HAVE TO KNOW!!! Ahhhhh
It's a shame he never properly recorded Feels So Good. A lost classic to many, but so happy someone caught a sliver of it's potential. All the words are breathtakingly spot on with that state.
Tak for du har elsket mig i hele vores liv. Tak for de år vi levede sammen alene. Bless the memory! You are my 💓 and I'm yours forever. What happens to the heart? For less then a second our lives was collide. Thank you dear God! Your dear and distant wife ❣️
Em uma revista mensal sobre música, li uma crítica a respeito de seu álbum em 1986. Desde então sua música se transformou em uma necessidade diária em minha vida. E fiz questão de fazer uma tatoo em sua homenagem. I live in Brazil.

As a longtime fan of LC, I’d love to know where and when this recording was made. May Leonard live forever in our hearts (I’m not that far from joining him) ❤️❤️❤️❤️
+Petros - Is there any information available on these songs, like where or when they were recorded? I'm especially curious about "Feels So Good," "Red River Valley," and "Never Got to Love you." Thanks!
Feels so good: Live, Durham-North Carolina (3/11/2009) Red river valley: Cohen Rare Live Songs (1976-88) Never got to love you: Live, Duet with Anjani, 3rd Polish Radio (31/3/2007)
Thank you! This version of Feels So Good is quite different from the others I've heard. The others were later, apparently he reworked it. The other songs I hadn't heard before. Red River Valley takes me back to my own days at summer camp, and he sings it beautifully. Also LUV Never Got to Love You, so sweet/sad. Thanks again for sharing!
@@chloepechlaner7806 yeah. It's a clever line. He's beating himself up for this beautiful woman being so little to him, he's expressing what he thinks is a sad truth and failure on his part... But he just wrote this beautiful song for her, so clearly he thinks about her far more often than he even realises. It's a brilliantly Cohen line. The kind of thing he was brilliant at.
Horrible audio. Ah-hah! NOW I understand Why the audio is so bad on some of the songs. It was still early in his career and he probably wasn't playing at the classiest places yet.
Someone like Leonard Cohen will come into this world once. We are extremely lucky people to have been here at his time ♦️♦️♦️
Most definitely!

Absolutely sublime listening!!
Thank you very much for this *present*! I love him with all my soul. :)
I listen a little bit to other people, eg Townes van Zandt, Dylan, even Jimmie Rodgers, but I have to have a daily dose of Cohen. 🦋🧚♀️

Cohen covering Elvis... Now that's some clash of the gods.
Elvis Presley was far too overrated.

Surprisingly nice version of Elvis's Cant Help Falling In love With You.
Except it wasn't Elvis's song. I don't think Elvis ever wrote a single song.
@@moondancer9066 no he did not. What I meant was it is a song that is most associated with Elvis and was a big hit from a huge money making movie.

Yeah, I adore Dylan. But LC just does it even more for me.

Poor Janis Joplin. Leonard even changed his song to her to end with "In fact I don't even think of you that often."
