I love it! I have owned and driven a 1968 Landrover Series IIA since 1987 and my three boys and one grandson learned to drive in it. Now two of my boys have passed on and I will leave the Landrover to my one remaining son. I recommend moving the spare tire on you Jeepster to the rear so you can get into tighter trails and avoid damaging the quarter panel. I too am a Hagerty customer, they’re the greatest!
@@keithfarrell7638 hey Keith, I am debating between parabolic and stock springs . I like the potential of a softer ride from parabolic but I’m concerned about side slope lean! Any thoughts on this?
A wise old woman told me do something you both like to do..... In alot of ways this reminds me how lucky I am to have a wife that likes the cars over the years. We have a 75 Winnebago brave that is so nice. We camp all the time and mountain bike together. Also a daughter and a son that followed their dad's racing ways.... Now I have 3 grandson's that are as well.... Man are they little rippers! Great story.... Your blessed.
This is soooo nice... the whole story is so pretty that inspires me millions miles away.... I don't need to be there to feel the deepness of the story... great people, jeep... everything!!!
What an awesome story! Bless you for sharing this. Uniting with loved ones/ family while wrenching is a highlight of my life. I get to share it with my dad and my son. Some of the best times are spent wrenching.
Absolutely wonderful! There are so many deeply thoughtful moments in Kate’s sharing of her experiences and history tied to the Jeepster. For a shorter duration, but in a similar way, my ‘90 911 has become an extension of who I am. I began working with a trusted shop to modify the 911 several months before I started becoming sick with what turned out to be cancer. Through radiation, surgery & chemo, the interaction with my friends at the shop regarding the modifications was one of the bright spots that sustained me. Now that the worst of the cancer is over and the 911 is back on the road, the driving experience has become even more special as one of my happy places.
You two are way cool, I also have a daughter named Katie and I'm sure your father is very proud of what you have accomplished. Thanks for sharing your story.
Love how you told your story. Your jeep and husband seem a great fit in your life. Thank god that girls were made that love to drive old trucks and have dirty boots and be comfortable in there own skin out in nature. Your dad seems to have been a great man.. and his love for you will last forever. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for sharing this!!! I am 50 and a female. I still have (and always will!) My 67 mustang that my dad and I built when I was 16/17. I love that car! I love even more what it represents. I wouldn't trade anything for every moment spent in the shop with my Dad ❤. Even just ducking into the shop here and there these days to fix something, or just to hang out, those moments are priceless!
Wish I could give you a 1000 thumbs up ! One of the best Life Car Love stories I've heard in a long time ! Thank you for being able to share it with us . Of all of the Jeeps , the Jeepster has always been my favorite .

What a great story. As a former Californio I very much identify with leaving the Golden State and living in the Southwest. I left in 81 and have never looked back. Thanks you Cooks. :)
Her talking about pin striping and working on her jeepster is me exactly engine swapping out my miata being that this is the first time I've ever done anything like this!
Anybody remember an old Pin strpiper from the 70's-80's (Shakey Jake) from So. California ? He stripped many new Porshe's, BMW'a and Audi's all free hand when I was a mechanic for Porsche. Like most Pin Strippers, A true Artist. Good Video, Thanks!
My family had a 1967 Jeep Commando. It had the 1949 jeepster paint scheme, yellow, white, and black convertible top. Dad swapped in a Buick 300 ci V8. Many wonderful memories, four wheeling that Jeep...
I own a Hurst Commando and I love this video and story! There is some very mystique about the Jeepster Commando. AMC did not do the best job building these “weird” trucks, most of them have rusted way and all of them have been forgotten for decades. People just now come around and understand why some of us bought them way before everybody even knew what they were! One of the coolest Jeep ever!
Amen! I've owned mine for over 20 years but remember playing in my dad's as a kid. Seeing a Jeepster rolling down a dirt road almost gives me chills. Love them and appreciate others do to! We are a unique ilk.
What a great personal story and a personal vehicle. I had a 1967 Jeep Wagoneer in the 1990s and early 2000s that had the same gauge cluster, steering wheel center cap, and other parts similar to this Jeepster. It's so nostalgic.
These good people, this glorious car... E-fuels everywhere please to help keep cars like these running in environmentally responsible fashion well into the future
Cool Story! October 1965 My dad pulled into driveway with a brand new 1966 F100. I learned to drive in it that fall. Guess what I drive today as my daily driver? Yep a 1966 F100. The collection has grown to 10+ 1966 trucks now in various states of restoration. My RUclips channel is about that. Restoration of Ford trucks. We always had a Jeep too!
There's 3 things that will make a grown man cry . Birth of a child, death of a loved one & rebuilding or the building of a long time family vehicle with a family member.
Of all the vehicles I've owned none of them were as unique as my 72 Jeepster Comando. Practical no, fun to drive yes. Whenever I see one I go crazy like seeing an old friend. Drove it from California to Colorado pulling a trailer I think 4 times. Never got stuck, went everywhere 12k gravel mountant passes in Colorado, Taos New Mexico. No AC, dual exhaust that came out by the doors, bad gas millage oh but what a ride.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

These video's have picked up where Petrolicious left off. More great stories about people and their unique cars. Bravo!
The guys who make these are incredibly talented and super cool! They absolutely did.
Note, very few jeepsters were 4x4.if you have a factory 4x4 jeepster you have atreasure
Did petrolicious stop?

Great story but that can't be a 66, it has side marker lights. Side marker lights were mandatory in 68, unless someone added them.
What 4 speed did you put in it
