A bicycle or car tire Schrader valve remover works flawlessly in place of the take-down key Walther supplies you within the package. Another option is HVAC supply houses selling parts to A/C companies who go to people's homes and repair their A/C and Heating units. Each and every supply house usually gives out free little reversible "front pocket sized" screwdrivers and on the one end is a Schrader valve remover/tightener. Just a free hack some might find useful as I have. Thanks for the review and God bless bro.
Just an FYI...there is a recall for a failure to be safe on certain serial numbed, PK380s they are supposed to pay the shipping and check the operation of the pistol free of charge..after It has been checked a stamped "Z" can be found under the slide when the mag locks It open.👍
A few things I'd point out. Galloway precision sells a captive spring guid rod. Even with the light spring, there is very little recoil. I know everyone seems to say how much they hate the takedown. This for me was a great feature. It makes it super easy when you can only use one hand. Same thing for how easy it is to rack. The other wonderful thing is when you knock home a magazine that is loaded the slide will release itself. Again great when you only have one hand. I get it may not be the best for everyone, but it sure fills a need for some of us. Oh, if you loose the tool just buy a schrader valve tool. Not a big deal even sell ones that go on your keychain.
All major companies are still mass producing modern .380 firearms and modern ammo. It's far from its way out. Thanks to Rugers LCPmax and Sig's P365-380 it's in more than ever. .380 and 9mm ammo prices have just about equalized. That says it all.
A few things I'd like to clear up. First, there is a trick to get the guide rod back into it's place, it only takes me 10 seconds, but if you find it that difficult, you can actually purchase a after market guide rod that has the spring retained, and it's cheap. Second, the notion that the .380 is going out of style or not being effective, that is false, there are numerous types of ammo that is more than effective. As a Emergency Physician know all to well what a .380 is capable of doing to a person, you really don't want to get shot by one, this PK380 has a longer barrel than most .380 and has about a 100 fps more muzzle velocity. Many people like this PK380 because it's stupidly easy to rack and shoot for people that are recoil sensitive or might have a hard time racking a 9mm. Third, while it might rattle a bit when not under load, it has no effect on it's performance, it's a very accurate gun, I have over 2000 rounds through it and functions without issues. My wife loves it because she doesn't like my CZ75 because of it's recoil and size. Absolutely love the paddle magazine release, it's quick and you can use your index finger or thumb from either side.
@@BOB-wx3fq Sure the .380 is a bit more expensive, but not crazy more expensive, we are talking about $3 to $5 for 50 rounds of range ammo over 9mm. As for more scarce, hardly, I find stacks of it at all the stores I go to, just purchased 10 boxes last week at $24.00 per box.
@@Diemerstein It went up to 49.99/50 during the pandemic and stayed that way, I've only seen it come down slightly Regardless, it truly has been dying, if it wasn't for the ultra compact pocket 380s that got really popular a few years ago I think it would be as scarce as 32auto And again I'll reiterate that I love 380 my favorite pistol is a cheetah chambered in it but I call a spade a spade
@@TheJimminiShow if you want a better gun for a better price look at bersa they have great guns at awesome prices but still waiting on a full size double stack bp9cc. Basically a bp9 no cc
The price is due to the 9mm being THE cartridge and thus has an economy of scale advantage in production. It's really more of an exceptional perk of 9mm mass production. The point was originally that they had more leeway in designing guns for .380 and so could design cheaper to produce, smaller, easier shooting guns than the, back then, much much bigger and chunkier 9mm and .45 acp autos. Straight blowback designs are simpler and shootable with the .380 acp. 9mm straight blowback is a pain to shoot, if you believe those who have shot one of the few 9mm straight blowbacks. 9mm and .45 used to be military service cartridges (Parabellum -> para bellum, 'for war'). .380 acp was a civilians cartridge. Now, that all becomes a bit mirky, with todays developements in material, production, gun design and ammunition performance. With all that said, this could have easily been a 9mm. The 9+1, as i understood, is with an eye on the 10 round limited markets.
@gergnotsloh No, the PK380 had been discontinued by the time I broke it. I had to special order the part from Germany. It took them 3 years to finally get it to me. I placed the order in 2012. I don't put much stock into warrantys anymore unless it is a Ruger firearm. I have never had better support and service than with Ruger. I'm not making a sales pitch it's just after owning several firearms from many companies, I will not trust any company other than ruger to actually honor a warranty.
Did you know and gun stores this gun goes for $250 some places they go up to 400 but they're just ain't that great they look good very difficult to use with the springs and other things you could see for yourself but I wouldn't recommend it other guns are much better

I have one for my wife - she loves it and it shoots great. Just bought a captive spring from Galloway.
They make a replacement spring for that that has a cap on it. I put it on mine and the gun handles and fires much better and very little malfunctions

Thank you for video. It's a good weapon.. I use it as a second and backup at work. I primarily wear CZ P07 9mm Luger.
Just put another 50rds thru my PK380 tonite 10/5/2022 .... used PPU 380acp defense rounds .... 100% functional ..
Use needle nose pliers to install the spring. Very easy
Where can you get the laser for this?
Can't you put in a better recoll spring
You can put on an aftermarket guiderod/spring, but it should have been standard
