Awesome, love those old street cars!
Thanks for watching and this museum is a great place to visit!
Never been, I will have to check it out one of these days.@@dmvarearailstransprod22
You mean old trams
@@user-mn1fy5mu8m They can be trolleys or trams or streetcars.
right...@@user-mn1fy5mu8m
PCC streetcars from 1945-46 still used in Boston in everyday service on the Mattapan line.
Yeah I know about that, but I’m hoping to ride and film them the next time I go to Boston.
And they were built to last like the original Willys Jeep!
@@philipperiopel1911 Yeah, kind of in that way.
They’ve been rebuilt a number of times, but still running.
@@sethlewin7815 Yep
PCC cars were also introduced to Tokyo Metropolitan Tramway in the late 50's, which were already retired from the line. Though the number of the cars was not so large, they are well memorized in Tokyo's citizens for its modernized design and sophisticated system. Impressive videos, thank you.
Oh wow! I guess I can plan a trip there someday.
The Pa Trolley Museum and the Rockhill Trolley musuem in Pa both have some excellent examples as well that operate. The Rockhill museum a few years back had their infrastructure upgraded since they were hosting a start up company running trials on a new battery powered trolley.
I’ve never been to those museums before, but I hope I can go someday.
How lovely to hear a proper bell instead of the electronic rubbish they pit on light rail.
I visited the US in 2019 and loved the Sanfransico Street Railway with all those beautiful PCC cars
Favourite colour was the blue and Silver Philly livery.
Not sure why they have two trolley poles when they only are driven from one end.
It’s actually the gong that is being used and these are older streetcars.
I Did a stint with you folk some time back at your museum,my job was observing coming and going of the trams and my seat at the signals rooms right where that gentleman was sitting is where I was, thankyou to volunteers of Baltimore there I really appreciated and enjoyed my time There
Oh no problem! Thanks for coming out!
I remember seeing the green and yellow streetcars on the 1991 VHS tape "All About Fasting Moving Trains." Great to see the museum and those streetcars are still going strong. Thank you for sharing this.

Sad how many trolley systems were done away with and forgotten, all across America. Even my little town used to have a trolley that ran from one end of town to the other.
Well, there are very few cities that still have old fashioned streetcars.
We also used to have many trolleybus routes, but now there is only one left, the museum route. Electric buses are replacing trolleybuses and buses.
@@duncanmclaud5953 I know and I love the Ride On Electric buses.
Here in the Boston area, PCC cars are still in regular service on the Red Line between Ashmont and Mattapan.
Yeah I know and I’m hoping to ride them the next time I go to Boston.
What a beautiful video. I imagine Buster Keaton coming round the corner any time...

I believe those trolley cars in New Orleans are getting upgraded for safety reasons. Streetcars from the 1940's-50 so happy those cars at the museum.
Yeah and I am hoping to personally ride the streetcars in New Orleans.

That sweeper looks like the ex Blackpool one at Heaton Park but much bigger.
Yeah, it’s actually 101 years old!
PCC 7407 's color look like Nagoya City Tram's color,
The font of the train number is also similar to Nagoya City Tram.
PCC cars were also operating on the Nagoya City Tram. ( Type 2000 )
Snow Sweeper are still in operation in Sapporo and Hakodate.
Oh cool!
in mexico city had PCC tramways since 50's years, one is saved in STE museum
Oh cool and I am hoping to visit someday.
Great video. Thanks for sharing

It's too bad that the CLRV (Canadian Light Rail Vehicle) and the CALRV (Canadian Articulated Light Rail Vehicle) can't be at a museum like this; they were the backbone of Toronto's streetcar network from 1982 onward, and they're just as classic as the PCC and Peter Witt streetcars.
Yeah and NCTM has two preserved Toronto PCCs from 1951.

Why did 6119 stop for such a long time ( I see no apparent reason) and how could 417 go straight when there was no one to operate the line switch? Operational questions my 6 yr old grand daughter asks. I too wonder why and how!
There was a passing freight train above and there was also a brief signal issue going on.
Amazing work
