There seems to be a lot of side-slip due to having no keel or centerboard. But I like the simplicity of the sail plan, so easy to manage. Yrvind's inventiveness is amazing.
Congratulations, a very nice boat. By the way, we use, what you call chine runners on catamarans since 1980. What you call, "chine runners" can be compared to winglets on modern aircraft. What they do is, reducing the water flow on the downwind side of the hull. In this way, the boat sails better to windward and generate fewer vortexes.
His planned speed is 2 knots. He is planning to go around the globe non stop in that, I'd think he'd place safety before speed. He has circumvented the globe several times alone so I'd guess he knows what he's doing.
Cymon Cyrado It doesn't, shortly after the making of this video the boat went head on with a Volvo at a boat ramp. It was destroyed, the only thing salvageable was that weird cone thing on the back. Sadly Claus' wife wouldn't allow him to build another because it was taking too much time from his daily chores. And that's how the fairytale came crashing to its end out here in this place we call the real world, now go get a job and stop being so nosey. Mind your own business.
Rigging looks like an afterthought. Shrouds are monstrous and get in the way of the bed sheet. The boat would be faster with a modern rig off a boat or cat or windsurfer. The idea is not new. Small Hobie cats in the 1960s had no keels or boards. Can't have much moment arm what keeps it upright? Will it self-right? Can a man fit through the hatch with a life jacket on?
Doubtful! This man knows what he's doing: look him up. He's circumnavigated many times before in similar boats that he designs and he builds himself. This man is a legend.
Sven- I appreciate you in vast ways..your the anticity of modest geniousness- gentle giant- grace- joy- wisdom- hero🎈
Brilliant nautical genius, artist, and maritime visionary...what a treasure for all those that care to dream...Thank You Sven!
Makes one think: "what will I be doing when I am 74?" This man is an inspiration to keep dreaming and doing.

Yrwind, I very much like your boats; they seem very well thought out, very safe and very practical.
It's beautiful. Den är så vacker. What serenity.
so far Yrvind, may the gods of wind be with you (y)

She looks like the Beatles Yellow Submarine but I am sure it will stay on the surface!
Congratulations Mr Yrvind. I am sure she will be a succes. :-)
Was’nt that chine keel used on Thames barges hundreds of years ago?
Amazing little vessel
yes please tell me what the solopiano piece is. its well played, some good chords in it.
Pretty boat! :-)
Greetings from Greece, to Αρχιπέλαγος
I like what you do with boats.
in the master cabin there's dolby surround sound and a really neat make up cabinet
I love your sailing philosophy!
Very nice sailing pictures. Makes me want to go sailing aswell!
I love this boat! Well done!
Congratulations for your work!!!! Good sailing.
Why is all that rope in the water?
Wont the boat easily capsize with the chineboards? I'm thinking that the center of gravity is higher due to this.
Wonder why he didn't go with a longer mast. There has to be a reason.
Just wondered how it handles huge storms?

um circumvented?
I know right... and the globe isn't even Jewish !
What is the music?
so how is the balance with those funky lateral keelsons? seems like one would have to build it to perfect balance or it wouldn't work at all?
Mold the two parts, grind the heaviest one until it's equal to the lightest one. Easy. I think that's how he did it.
I'm very interested in these chine runners.
молодец, дедушка!
только почему у него нет стакселя?
people spending thousand of dollars for astronomic boat and sailing ⛵️………..this guy travel the world 🌍 with simplicity and cool invention !
Why Yrvind uses always square sails?
I think it is because his philosophy is simplicity... he doesn't want complicated rigs which are difficult to repaired
Fantastico !!!
Actually I mixed up his projects, I don't think the boat he will use for circumnavigation is completed yet...
0:27 wtf did he say ?
beautiful boat
has he left yet?
Да, собирается. Здорово, правда?
Респектую мужик!
What did you call the keel? And how does it work?
nice music in the beginning
how well does it point?

seems to have a lot of leeway
It looks like without the keel or board it would slip sideways on a close hauled.
Yes, you can see its leeway when it passes in front of the anchored boat. Quite a lot of leeway. Maybe there's a big current?
All his boats are downwinders.
Скажи мне какая у тебя яхта и я скажу тебе кто ты! Герой!
Try Greg Howlett, Gospel piano

Of course you want shallow draft when you cross the pacific...
Sailing in a Yellow Submarine.
muito bom
...he should build Dixiklos
Like MingMing without the junk sail.
It´s called New Born.
I think we found it,w instructions
ANYONE KNOW OF ANY VIDEOS OF SVEN ON HIS TRANS ATLANTIC CROSSING IN THIS LITTLE BOAT?
dale3858 nope.
yellow for rescue team...
looks great but needs more sail. maybe a big inflatable boom powerkite
I guess you can't sail to high seas with that boat, it looks very unstable.
Look up Sven Yrvind, he has sailed all over the world also with this one, still going strong at 82 building a new boat.
этот дедушка собирается на лодочке потипе этой переплыть атлантику
doesnt look very comfortble :P
and again at ca 2:min
He wont drown,, but he might starve to death
