You nailed the cam bearing clearance/bearing failures. Not many people check the cam bearing clearance or even change the bearings with all these “junkyard” SBE (stock bottom end) builds.
The oil goes in the filler tube on top of the engine, and a few thousand miles later, it comes out the drain plug in the oil pan, and some out of the filter when you change it 😂 That's what most people know, I am glad you explained that, I had no idea and a much better system than the Gen V Hemi....
Thanks for another amazing video, Daniel. Please advise how my Corvair's oil management system puts oil on the ground. Is my oil following the path of peace?
I don't think you would lose all oil pressure if the barbell is missing. The rear end cover (and gasket) seals off the barbell hole, so the oil will not get dumped into the rear of the engine. So, if the barbell is missing, no oil is directed through the oil filter, but the oil will continue to flow to the rest of the engine under normal pressure.
Question I have a LC9 that the lifter roller broke off and ate the camshaft. I replace the camshaft and lifters with new HV oil pump. Once I get fully warmed up I get no oil pressure at idle but I have 40psi cold with 5/30 oil. With straight 50 and Lucas 50/50 I keep oil pressure. I looked at mains and rods and they were like new. I didn't do a new cam plate I used sealer on it with the old oring any idea were my oil is escaping. I've put 10k on it this way just driving locally. Oh and it has 385,000 miles on it
What are the chances the factory barbell leaks on a 350k engine??. Truck has a new o ring. Melling hvhf pump with stiffer spring. New bt lifters and trays. New Cam plate. New oil pressure switch. Cold oil psi is 45 hot drops to 25 while driving. My guessing is that barbell may got hot and warped or the rear plate seal is leaking
I have changed out the oil pump, pick up tube,o ring, cam thrust plate, barbell, the pressure relief valve in the oil pan and I still have no oil going up to the valvetrain and my gauge says I have 35 psi at idle cold.
LS is a horrible design as far as the oiling system, Main reason why I swap to a dry sump on something like a road race car, I plug the 2 ports at the pan rail for the oil filter feed/return and just feed straight into the rear port by the back of the block.
I'm smarter than I was 5 minutes ago. Thank you for your time.
Absolutely!
Thanks from an old Rat Motor man, scheduled to help young ones in the shop move along w/LS projects.
Right on!
its not often I find a simple explanation that just makes sense on the internet. Thank you sir!
Glad to help!

Yup
best explanation i have found
Thank you
Thanks for the explanation I now understand how the oiling system works
Happy to help
Most definitely a fantastic video on the oiling of a ls. Thanks!!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I look forward to each of your videos!
Glad you like them!, we appreciate you're support 🙏

Great point!
I love the way you say awl !
Great explanation and clarification for the misinformed people. 👍
Ty, lol we country
Thanks for the run down, never had my hands on an ls.
No problem
Great information ! I was wondering about this. You explain it well. Thank you !
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you again for your very clear video
You are very welcome
Thanks for another amazing video, Daniel. Please advise how my Corvair's oil management system puts oil on the ground. Is my oil following the path of peace?
Lol, most likely
Absolutely correct ✅
Thank you!
Fantastic info.. thank you for explaining....👍
My pleasure
Thanks that is great
Yw!
This is a great channel! Keep up the good work and every gear head appreciates it.
Absolutely!, ty
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank You Daniel !
Welcome!

You can not "look" at a aluminum bearing and determine wear only 3 things create low oil pressure, excess clearance or lack of volume
Hi, thanks. Am I wrong is is that all the worst stuff of the big and small block all at once?
Definitely not "priority main oiling "
My bbf 560 we studed it then line bore to specks eagle crank we need lots clearance oil Flo 8+ thousand rpm

My guessing is that barbell may got hot and warped or the rear plate seal is leaking
That symptom tells me you have excessive bearing clearance
Where does the barbell actually go ? What does it do ? Block, divert ?
This video explains that clearly....I thought
So it just lays on the bottom of the block ?
@johnwilleford7715 this video shows the instalation of all the block plugs and barbell.

Absolutely 💯

You are missing something obvious
@@powellmachineinc I sure am,but can't figure it out.
Dad's time you must have a blocked oil galley
@@pacman3908 I hope not.
Same issue with a dod delete. 55 psi at the filter and 40 psi at the sensor. No oil to the rockers. What am I missing?
