@ChrisBumstead Feet under you is more like a proper squat, the way you came up on the first squat machine for the first quad exercise was proper all the flexors and quad muscles bring you up rather than leaning forward when coming up which is more hams. Tried it out a day ago. Tip: If you lean forward on the bottom like a weight lifter and come up the way you did, leaning back on the way up rather than forward, you will crush every length of your quad, from the flexors down to your medial head. Also, you can replicate the same effect on leg extensions, if the back rest can can be adjusted to lean back slightly, it would be better and then once at full extension on the top, kick it up further, the focus should be hip flexors, hold for a second, focus on negatives and repeat, when form suffers, you can consider it technical failure.
I think starting with hamstrings makes your knees hurt more, does for me anyways. I always start with leg press, get the juices flowing right out the gate
