    I love Ssf (not hc) because everyone is talking about currency in 1st day, first week, etc.
    And I'm feeling bad because I want to take my time, think about build and those things. I don't wanna to start of the league feel like race and week later everyone talking they have so much currency, they can buy everything and I got nothing in comparison to them. But I just don't wanna to play 18H a day using most efficient way. Ssf gives me opportunity to play and see everything in game, not just "ohh I'm gonna buy this because I hate farming that item"
    And at the end of the day I'm feeling better because i got this by myself even if others got this 10 times faster by buying it.

      Last League was the first I really engaged with trade league, and after awhile, it just felt like a rat race at work. I was constantly clicking outside windows, I was frantically trying to trade currency up to get enough to buy that one item that could help my build. It was exhausting and not fun. No longer. I'll play SSF so that I'm on my own, and items take on greater importance, so there's no need to open outside windows, no need to waste time sending out a bunch of tells hoping someone responds, etc...

    This league is probably the first time I'm going to go SSF. Every league I get to the point in currency that I'm able to just buy the gear I need for a build, get my gems where they need to be, and then I just lose all 'fun' in the build, cause there is nothing else for me to shoot for. Thinking on it, it explains why I make so many other builds in a league, cause I enjoy the chase of, "I need this item and I'll be stronger." and having the ability to just buy the item I think has ruined that fun for me.
    I could just *not trade* in normal league, but if I take away that option from the start, I think the game will feel better to me.

    • @btarczy5067
      @btarczy5067 3 года назад +1

      Yeah, buying an item isn‘t the same, at least to me. Just farming the most profitable mechanic isn‘t an option in SSF and for me that‘s great as I have a tendency to fall into habits and stick to them even if - in the case of playing PoE - they become a chore and finally amassing the currency to get what I need feels empty. Of course switching to trade is only a click away if I ever feel the need to test out a build‘s limits. I see the SSF option as a symbolic gesture that helps me play in a way that‘s more fun.
      The results I achieve in SSF might not be the best but at least I get there by learning about crafting methods or farming specific uniques myself. And there‘s the possibility of a fail state which makes succeeding that much more meaningful.
      Good luck in your first SSF league, this one will be tough!

    I have to say that I am feeling frustrated with the changes. I have been working on getting to end game for five months with three different SSF characters. I am just getting to red maps and I feel that this latest patch is slapping me back down. It feels like an unfair obstacle was placed in my path. I have enjoyed the journey in SSF, it is forcing me to actually learn the game, but I am not sure I have it in me to start over.

    Quick Funny Story i had in ssf: Only had 1 kikazaru but wanted to play freezing pulse totems, looked up poedb and searched for "reduced curse effect on you" on rings, crafted the things with everything i got (fossil, essence etc.) and managed to get one ring, 5 minutes after dropped the 2. kikazaru. never felt more betrayed in my life

  • @hellowill

    This mindset is what a lot of older PoE players already have.
    Back then you had to over level, and over gear, just to clear the campaign. Like you'd spend have the day farming fellshrine ruins before going to merc act 3.
    These days, people expect to jump into end game like it's nothing. I feel the people that played pre-2016 (the game got significantly easier with ascendancy and atlas) have much better habits.

      @leesan5370 3 года назад

      Especially over 66lv, fire, cold, lightning tag for harvest includes percentage damage as extra chaos damage. For spell build, usually we want to roll the +1 skill gem level and extra chaos modifier isn't good for rerolling. So take the item that is below lv 66. For other modifier, such as spell damage, the highest modifier below the 66 lv is 64. So we use 64 and 65 septre for a base. It is similar with shield to roll gem level and high health.

      pro tip about killing sirus
      stop focusing on trying to kill him, focus on running around in circles staying alive.
      sirus can be done by taking zero hits fairly easily once you understand his move sets and realize you can just walk circles around him without getting hit. once you learn to run circles around him you can start to learn how to attack him inbetween.

    well, i played a juggernaut discharge character recently in ssf hc, it was actually enjoyable to play and durable fast enough and cheap af and kind of safe vs bosses... like i should have died to kitava in act 10 because i played the fight really poorly mechanically due to lack of experience with it but i just facetanked everything 🤭. The poor mechanics and the small cooldown on discharge ended up getting me killed though in an encounter i hadnt faced b4, i think i let my fortify drop (yikes) .... also it was my first game of the day so i still had to get into the rhythm of the character again. SSF is like a hard puzzle !

  • @salvadorscar6057

    I can tell you. SSF and Especially SSF HC is for streamers. To enjoy it, to fully enjoy playing SSF you need audience. Trust me. Those failurs are not self rewarding. You hardly can push yourself to start another character after RIP. But when you have audience that enjoys watching you doing smthing hard and challenging, then its fun to start it over again. It motivates.

    • @PhilC
      @PhilC 2 года назад +1

      Disagree with this. You do not need an audience for anything you do, because that means you need outside confirmation for something you're doing, rather than doing it for yourself. It starts with why. Reasons make all the difference in the world. Why are you playing SSF, what is the goal, what are you trying to achieve, what are you aiming for, what is your expected outcome. The why is what is going to pull you through the hard times and struggles that come with SSF. It's about self-reliance and self improvement, overcoming obstacles and a sense of achievement. It has nothing to do with anyone else and is not just for streamers. If you cannot "push" yourself after a character dies, then you don't have a desire to improve while playing SSF and it's simply not for you.

    I really don't feel like HC is worth the struggle in current state of the game. At least unless you want to limit yourself really heavily with your build option and play meta option while also having literally mastery over the game.
    You get huge ego boost and adrenaline high from struggle you are going through, specially once you finish main campaign and even do well in maps but you are one bullshit AN rare / lag spike from disappointment.
    I got to like first red maps on HC on my ~third or fourth trial, taking my time doing campaign after first timing Innocence fight and being oneshot with full lightning resists (his damage is partly fire so I should cap it too and get more health nodes, it was 100% my fault for not knowing that but game doesn't even tell you so unless you google it or play conviction wave, realize that colors of the sparks are the same and it might mean that damage is also partly fire, partly light, you are never going to know what killed you :)). I died once to Kitava's explosion due to slow and degens from rare AN + no cd on flame dash. I decided to do it once more but I got way less adrenaline and got more annoyed as deaths and time piled on. I learned more about the game itself as I progressed (guardian skills, auras, better combinations etc), I beat Kitava, I got to maps, I cleared white maps, cleared yellow with small struggle and did some reds. Then randomly in one of these red maps, I got run down and instakilled by mana drain, haste, some bullshit phys dmg boost mods rare. I could beat red map boss but one rare instakilled me. Yeah, I was done, said fuck it and went back to game on new league start but on trade SC. Now, I would not be instakilled if this mob didn't drain my mana in second, or if he didn't crit and hit me maybe multiple times in quick succession despite my very high evasion and some physical mitigation. Maybe I could have flame dash on life tap or outlevel zone much more. These are possibilities but I still don't think I should not have any counterplay in this very moment despite dueling and dealing with red map bosses. I don't think it's good game design and I am not going to bet my time on it ever again so no HC unless disparity between bosses and rares is fixed. Boss should be the hardest, the strongest and most rewarding thing in map. Period.
    That being said, SC trade was easy, two weeks, I did end game content, felt like there is nothing more for me to achieve. Anything I got and did was devalued to chaos/divine and getting the best chest on market felt only good when I struggled to get color sockets for it (it was VERY high EV/DEX and I needed 3 red and 1 green sockets). It felt good to beat Shaper, Elder, Guardians or Maven's 10s gauntlet but what I felt good about was struggle and getting through difficult stuff, not just getting it done. It was journey, not destination.
    Now I started new journey in SSF, no HC this time. From the scratch. I never played anything outside Shadow/Scion elemental EK as I felt it's extremally fun to play so I decided to do everything in SSF. I literally checked every single skill in game and thought about what will be most fun to play for me (fuck efficiency), looked up for passive skill heatmap for said skills and characters I wanted to play as (ex. Crackling Lance Assassin instead of Inquisitor, Spectral Throw Scion instead of Raider) and created 8 characters, doing act by acts with each of them to experience whole leveling, gearing, building struggle and see how far each of them can get. So far it's been extremally fun and it's just whole new game for me which I really enjoy.
