James, with the Moschino windows you're using in the greenhouse , you could use like two or three of the open variant, might be an interesting take to "add" some fresh air to the crops!
That sounds cute but I’m now wondering if greenhouses even have windows that can be opened since there isn’t really a need and it would just mess up the temperature 🤔
@@lindabhri2681 having windows that open is very important it allows air to circulate, if the greenhouse is to hot it can kill the plants.

I like the short windows too, for variation and because you can align them easier with shorter/outside side of the door. The game doesn‘t worry about open windows, as long as there‘s a roof, plants are sheltered. =)

I keep wondering why James doesn't sell his produce to the weird guy in the woods? He pays more and if I remember correctly you get other gifts like clothes for the animals.
I don't know if you have already done this, but you should definitely set Chaz' likes and dislikes before Hazel does a renovation. Also, getting a bike might be nice for running around Bramblewood :)
Same with the witch sisters before the next reno. Have their likes set to "realm of magic"
For the green house, can you delete the flooring and just plant from the ground and still be sheltered?? Instead of buying new planters??
That's what I've always done with my greenhouses. Just delete floor & ceilings, plant as normal, reap year-round crops.

It's also better this way if you plan to use sprinklers in the greenhouse. Sprinklers don't really work on a floor
Hey James! Now that you're real time, please make all the animals and the crops in the same enclosure, that way the chickens can help eat the bugs in your crops (and fertilize them), plus Lenny could protect the chickens from foxes.
Once MCCC is updated, you should be able to use that to set Bonehilda as Chaz's mom. You would just need to summon her and use MCCC's relationship option with a Sim on the same lot.
You can also use the mod to edit relationships with the rest of his family so they're what they should have been!

@@Kalolelo weerbesu's UI mod, which makes editing numerical relationships stupidly easy with a right-click, is fixed for the patch and should work with Cottage Living.

I love the greenhouse! Would really like to see the animals all together in one fenced area so Lenny can protect the chickens from all the Swiper no Swiping wannabes.
It's so cool with seasons because you'll make more money during in winter with the nightly mushrooms and have to invest that wealth for the rest of the year. Really gives it some degree of farming realism! 👍

When you go into the storage section of buy mode, eco lifestyle has cardboard boxes that you can put stuff in. I use them all the time with my gardening stuff because they look a lot more natural than the base game chests to have on a farm:)

THEORY: Chaz left home to start a new life in cottage living (idk how to spell the name) but then one day Lenny accidentally kicked him in the head so chaz went to the hospital. The doctors there contacted his family to let them know and now they are trying to reconnect with chaz. However due to to being kicked in the head he also forgot a lot of people that he recently meet.
James Turner: “Lenny?”
Arthur Morgan: “LENNNAYYYYY!”

Dango is fun and features a lot in anime. Tri-colour dango is a popular sweet festival treat in Japan, especially for spring blossom festivals. The green colour comes from green tea powder (usually matcha) and the pink from sweet red bean paste. The white flavour varies, but may be vanilla or sweet tofu. You should craft your own planter boxes with the woodworking table. And it would make your handiness skill higher so you could upgrade your bed too.
I love that with the simple living lot challenge and plants only growing in some seasons, you can cook food that is 'in season' only, or can food for later which is super accurate to how people would live in the country side

"There are 23 parts in that Let's Play." Cue to me realizing I've watched every Let's Play since Island Living and each episode is at least 30 minutes long. O.O I've spent a lot of time watching James play The Sims. ^.^;
I started my rags to riches at the beginning of winter and followed your rules with not just selling things from the inventory, and using off grid, simple living and foxes lot traits…talk about tough!!! I nearly died or froze to death a hundred times😳 before spring😱

Village fairs like the ones they're copying do go on into the evening, usually with live music, but the non-food stalls do close around 6pm.
James’ LPs are so fun and make me want to start one on RUclips but then I think “who cares how I play sims” and then I just continue watching lolol
Just a thought that could help TONS on the farm... Maybe rethink the layout of the yard so that you can give the chickens access to the green house, maybe put the bunny stump in the chicken pen too so they have access as well - then the chickens will take care of the bugs and the bunnies will weed and do their magic. Between them and the sprinklers, you could spend so much more time tending to the animals and other things and the garden of the farm would almost take care of itself otherwise. Win win win! XD

Forgot to mention, you need to go to the creater keeper and sell your products but you always go to the market stalls and the creater keeper sells them for double the price!
17:45 Dango are similar to mochi! They're sticky and chewy and actually very good! There's another type that's grilled with a teriyaki-like sauce that's popular as well. It's a common street food and given Chaz is from Sims!Japan, it feels appropriate that he'd make them.
I think chaz needs a lil makeover from his homeless look before dating hazel
Chaz should have his house decorated really randomly, like maybe the kitchen from Japan, and the table from another pack and so on... since his background is very diverse and he is affected by all the places he's been before settling to be a simple farmer. He dosen't really care about interior design or what goes together, "as long as it works right?" so when someone finally convinces him to have it professionally re-decorated, Hazel comes and is just flored by how random the place is, but finds his more innocence and simple joy refreshing. At her job, she probably has met alot of weird personalities, some less pleasant, but Chaz is just the sweetest.

James is the only person I know who gets thrilled with the star wars pack.
I’ve been playing the sims 3 for so long now bc I just haven’t found a pack that sparked joy with sims 4. You have inspired me to buy this pack and I cannot wait until 1 pm so I can live out my simple farm girl dream. Lmao
18:20 Dango is really just rice flour ON A STICK! It has a chewy texture I think Westerners aren't used to. Other rice flour based things throughout East Asia are the Chinese tangyuan (which is closer to "rice flour in a bowl") and the Korean tteok (which goes great in a spicy sauce with fishcakes as tteokbokki).
James you can litterally just get rid of the floor in the green house and plant your plants in the grass instead of wasting money in planters

You can milk the cow/ collect eggs etc everytime you reload back into the lot! Probably a glitch they should fix but helpful for Now!
If you don't want to sell all your harvestable yet, at least harvest them and keep them in the fridge so you can cook more stuff.

I LOVE the way you did the green house! I am using that idea 100%! Also you could always use the modify relationship cheat to make him slightly friendly with all the townies again, that way its not like he just forgot everyone. UNLESS! behind the scenes this was all something his father did to make him somehow forget everyone but his own family and then have a slightly better relationship with him! Seems very suspicious 🤔
