I worked with an English bricklayer plasterer. I was told they use a float with nails in the form a key for the plaster. I also picked up some feathering straight edges which is great for screeding wet work, or even screeding back patches straight away. Hi mate. Did you have to wet the blocks before laying on?
Hi Colin mate I probs didn't need to as it wasn't drying in very fast and was well dusted down, But i did give it a splash to be safe as put most of it on in one go
obviously didn't watch the video
Top video my friend. I learned a lot from this one 👌
Glad it was helpful man :) Could you do a me a favour mate ?
Yes of course mate?
Would you be able to share it to the facebook group ?
@@macplastering yea course mate i do it now
@@DannyArbuckle Cheers man and hope your doing well
Nice job mate how come u didn’t use hardwall ?👍👍
this is cheaper martial mate but yes hardwall would have worked
Excellent.👍 I'm curious to know why the wall was rendered and not plastered?
This is the 1st coat / undercoat mate there is a top coat to go on the next day or so we call a skim coat
How come you don't put SBR on the wall first?
Don't need it for this job buddy low suction loads of key I'm sure I said during video? Also added a little into mix
You could sbr wall if u wanted all the same every job is different
Search for a video of robots which fit plasterboard. Maybe you can do a side by side video. Human vs machine!
Sounds a good idea m8
Standard lightweight concrete block, laid thousands of them and rendered on top of more, 20+ year ago all internal walls were blocked up with them.
You have done some serious hard work respect to you my man :) tell me this did you ever see ones like these made from sand cement stone and loads of polystyrene balls ?
Hi mac, are you using plastering sand?
Always mate :) building sand is to fine and asking fro issues working with it and shrinkage
@@macplastering thank you mate thought so, but was just wondering 👍🏼👍🏼
@@Fraz84 No problems mate hope to get more videos like this done in near future
@@macplastering nice one! I Appreciate the video's 👍🏼
Nice vid Mac! How come you go on so strong indoors? I was always taught 5-6:1 inside with some lime. Some handy tips though! Hope you and the family are safe.
Thanks buddy not sure if it was 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 on this one again probs down to the way i was taught and what has always worked for me
Great video , is that the finish or is there a next step?
Thank you Sam yes there is a next step this is just the float/ undercoat i do have a few videos doing the skimming if yoy look on tge channel for skimming over sand and cement or how to re plaster a wall it should pop up
Is this render sand ?
Sand and cement my friend have all the ratios and mixes on channel if you want a look see 👀
I just asked what type of sand m8 I have subscribed but can't look through all vid to find what sand should be
@@Brick_dont_hit_back it's called plastering sand mate
@@macplastering thank you, great chanel i learning a lot
Anytime always here my friend :):)
Instead of using render , can I use HARDWALL plaster . Thanks
Edit : I found a comment further down that someone mentioned HARDWALL . Sorted , thanks.👍
Cool but yes for sure :)
Same thing only hard wall will set faster or should and should be able to skim same day
@@macplastering brilliant , that's the reply I was looking for . . Before I bought this house someone rendered a 8×4 area many years ago . When I was to renovate the kitchen this area nearly came off in one piece , it sounded hollow when I tapped it . . Thanks for your reply and I been binge watching your vids after YT recommend you . 👍From South Yorkshire 🏴
@@robertkustos2931 Thanks Robert mate I appreciate that support so much and hope the videos helping you some always try have some new stuff up on Sundays and try my best to reply to every comment
Is that floor concrete?
I think so mate
don't you have problems with the skimming cracking
No mate
ruclips.net/video/OtQUF8DxWPY/видео.html this is a similar wall being skimmed also have this wall on video getting floated and later clips it painted
I wonder why you mix it once on your hawk with your trowel before you scoop it? Please let me know🙂
Hello my friend we do that just to set it up to put on kinda centrting it and makes it a little neater on the wall as it is even on the trowel hope this makes sense
Alway thought u scud the wall first and then scratch coat
Loads of ways to do the job mate scudding is one way fir sure
Great videos and attention to detail
@@tommyknightly1659 Thanks tommy mate :) funny thing is we do have a scud coat video out tomorrow with loads of detail and then will follow that up with float coat and possibly skim coating and finishing
My mistake may be wetting the wall too much prior to applying the render
right to left sand and cement left to right skimmin up the dubs
That how u like it ,mate
Thing is how do you cota your dry dash coat do you got that way then where do you start putting the stones on just wondering ?
I was taught fat and ugly but i've leant towards coating as you do, after watching my hard work slide off of the odd thirsty block. That's not so bad, but when the homeowner is passing and asks you if its meant to happen.. my face got a little hot.
Haha man things like that happen at the wrong time every time i do like to try build up especially door frames dead walls not to bad but anything heavy i preffer a nice build up
Skim....?
fuck me reminds me of myself , brilliant
:) cheers man
Haha that walls a load of balls 😂
Haha did you see them blocks never seen that before until this job but I bet they where light and easy to work with and cut plus keep heat in ?
@@macplastering ya mack never seen them myself either.they would be a lot lighter i guess and probably acts like an insulation aswell.so thats the pros i wonder is there any bad side to using them ?
Never met an irishman that couldnt float n set
Thanks Billy mate hope your doing well
As pennywise the clown would say
🗣️ Do they Float 😅
Lol
