I shave my full face every day with the Mühle R89 with the black handle like this one and a Gillette Nacet. It’s a perfect combo of mildness and sharpness for me and quite simply the best looking razor out there imo. Great video!
Agree with you, although, I'm using the Muhle razor blade.:) The Nacet sounds wonderful and is one I need to try with the R9.:) Thanks!:) And thanks for the kind words.:)
All in all you would never hurt yourself compulsions won't change anything
I could use Seville every day. It's so hard to describe the scent, but I just love it. The closest I can come is that it's not a sweet citrus, but savory citrus like it's squeezed on a plate of spicy food...that you eat in a barbershop.
That's an excellent description! It's a great scent!
Hi Mark nice shave. I'm a daily shaver and have the EJ DE89 and the Muhle R89 and with either one and a Personna Lab Blue blade I can do a one pass and some touch up and be almost BBS. They're great razors.
Very nice! Yes, both are fine razors. Both also perfect for those wanting to start the traditional wet shave.
Loved the pre-shave effects! Great production Mark!
Thank you, Larry! I had fun editing this one.:)
Mark , good morning. I absolutely love Seville ! When I bought it I had seen some reviews saying it was a Barbershop scent . I personally don't find that . I have Rockwell Barbershop and find it to be what I would expect a Barbershop scent to be. That being said I do have Seville soap , aftershave balm and aftershave ! A must have in my den ! Have a great day and keep the awesome videos coming !!
Yes. I agree. Not a barbershop scent at all. However, it's a wonderful scent and a must have.
My first de safety razor is that model with the grande handle. I find the aggressiveness tracks with the blades. A Derby blade will be very mild where a feather will be more aggressive. I agree with Mark that a sharp blade goes very well with the R89. My favorite blades to pair with it our Kai, Rapira, Personna USA, Gillette Nacets. Feathers have too much blade feel for me but on a second use are great (or could “smooth” out using your favorite technique)
That Grande is nice! Some with larger hands will appreciate the more generous sized handle.
@@MarkSzorady yep and was great coming from cartridges with their really long handles. Made the switch easier. Maybe it’s me but I have still get myself pretty good with it but have gotten a good cut with no matter the razor it is just bound to happen when your not careful.
Nice Shave Mark. That razor and soap look fantastic. Have a great week. 👍
Bill, thanks, you too! The razor and blade worked well together.
The video title alone tells us what you want to say. I have not seen the video yet, but we can expect you will show and tell that this is an excellent razor, mild and effective.
Yes, I'm using a new tool that helps create inviting titles.:)
In fact after seeing more of this video, that is what was shown and explained.
Love the video Mark. The R89 is a great razor, cant go wrong with Muhle.
Take care.
Agree. The blade really helped.
great shave Mark !! have a nice day
Great Shave video, Mark! Shout out to Mark Bagwell for providing the Muhle R89 razor....wow....very nice, indeed!!!!
Yes indeed!
Very nice shave. im going to get some of these blades. I believe you mentioned them to me in a comment on last weeks mmmb. Thanks for the review. Great job
My pleasure.:)
Another great video as always Mark-I really like Barrister and Mann soap - I put it right there with PAA with CK 6 - both are Top Notch IMHO 👍✌️
Agree!
I have about 2 weeks of beard growth atm, and am quite enjoying having a full beard as mine grows quickly. Plus I get to try a different set of products like beard oil (which is wonderful btw). That R89 looks great btw!
Neat! So, you'll shave it off in the spring? I know a couple of guys who do this very year.:)
@@MarkSzorady I might keep it until summer, it’s a nice change of pace to be perfectly honest. In the past I have avoided it as the itchy skin it caused at first was enough to drive me absolutely mad. But the beard oil resolved that right away, plus the scent lasts all day, so a win all the way around. An added benefit is that it has allowed me to map my hair growth, so that when I do shave again, i’ll have a better idea of the best direction to shave. have a great day mark!
I've been looking for a mild aggressive DE to replace my Merkur 34c. I find mild works great for shaving my head. I don't think I'm over tightening but keep popping the heads off. I'll give this a look, thanks for introducing us to it. BTW I have that exact Norman Rockwell picture hanging in my shave den.
Ken, yes, the R89 is a wonderfully mild razor. It's very much in the same ballpark at the 34C.:) The picture in the background is a Norman Rockwell, but with a twist.
I talked about it on the 10/18/2021 3MB.

So...after I made my comment I went and looked at my poster and noticed it was a copy of the original and didn't have the printing on it. I couldn't blow up your video clear enough to see what was going on. I was too lazy to edit my comment but since you took the time and effort to explain it I apologize that I don't have that exact poster, obviously, and want to thank you for sharing that link and you just picked up a new subscriber. Thanks!@@MarkSzorady
For a long time I've wondered about this razor. I'm glad to see your review. A reviewer on Amazon claims the head is identical to Edwin Jagger. Any thoughts?
What is the box looking thing you are rubbing on your face twice? You did it before the pre shave cream and after that.
He is using "The Cube", a pre-shave soap from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements.
Is Muhle R89 milder than King C Gillette Razor?
