C2C Crochet for Beginners - 4 ways to do the corner to corner crochet stitch!

  • C2C Crochet is an addictive way to create blankets and scarves quickly as well as a technique that can be used to make pixel art images with cross-stitch style patterns. I've compiled 4 versions that I discovered when I was learning how to do this myself. I'm referring to them as- classic, modern, mini, and extra mini. I've also added how to decrease each one.
Time stamps are below to jump to the video of interest. Hope you find this useful!
    Classic 1:15. (chn 6, chn 5 , 3dc)
    Classic Decrease 8:34
    Modern 13:35 (chn 5, chn 2, 3dc)
    Modern Decrease 18:43
    Mini 22:23 (chn 5, chn 2, 3 hdc)
    Mini Decrease 25:06
    Extra Mini 28:27 (chn 4, chn 2, 2 hdc)
    Extra Mini Decrease 31:50
Yarn : Lion Brand /Feels Like Butta
    shrsl.com/29oxq
    Hook: 3.75 mm Ergonomic Boye
    amzn.to/38Fm7op
For this video I am using U.S terminology
    CROCHET US vs UK CROCHET
Chain (chn) is the same for both
US single (sc) = UK double crochet (dc)
US half double (hdc) = UK half treble (htr)
US double (dc)= UK treble (tr)
US triple (treble) (tr) = UK double treble (dtr)
US double triple (treble) (dtr)= UK triple treble (trtr)

I have watched so many C2C tutorials & I could never get the turn right... Your "2 feet" analogy clicked with me. So now I tell myself - " turn, connect heel to toe & start a new row". I am now well on my way to it actually looking like a blanket! Thank you! ❤

Best c2c tutorial ever. I struggled so much trying to crochet into the back of the chain following other tutorials... yours is the only one I've seen that says to do the stitches first (to get your second little 'foot') and then flip it after.
Seems so obvious now but was an absolute game changer for me and made something that was previously impossible for me into something easy!

Oh, I just want to tell you how happy I am and to Thank You so much for your C2C tutorials. Ive been trying to learn for a few years now and I just wasn't getting it. I saw you had a Granny Square C2C video so I watched it, since I was very familiar with Granny Squares, and I got it real quick. It was easy. Then I saw this video on 4 ways to do C2C and I followed along and Wow, it just Clicked in my head and made sense to me finally. I got it. Im sure other C2C tutorials I watched in the past were good, they didnt make things click in my head to understand the concept. But this one, YOURS, sure did and I Thank you for that. I only learned the Classic version, will attempt to learn the others as time goes on but I wanted you to know that youve opened up a new door for me to now be able to create new ways to make crochet afghans. Love it

Excellent explanation. This way gives more confidence to understand because she explain doing different steps. Therefore it is different from others; it is more structured. Thanks a lot . Thanks I find you to play Hooky.

I was taught the traditional method, but didn't like the big gaps my piece had. I assumed it was due to the double crochets, so independently "invented" the mini version. My piece still had the big spaces, and I realized it was due to chains, not stitches. So I then, again, independently "invented" the modern one.
I think think the faint traces of Irish blood (modern crochet was invented in Ireland) in me are igniting and guiding me because I'm intuitively doing things like this all the time, I love it.

That’s the key right there.. I think it’s so important to have the confidence to keep tweaking to make these stitches work for us rather than always feeling compelled to do it a certain way because the pattern says we should 👍🏻🙌🏻

I just started making a c2c and I’ve found it so much easier than “normal” blankets. I tend to make my blankets grow either from adding a extra stitch (I figured that out and fixed it) or my tension being wonky from literally tension. Anyways this one is easy to crochet and watch tv etc. atleast for me and to find out I can make designs in them?! Heck ya 😆 I’m going to make so many of these…I have plans muhuhuha 😈

I've been doing 'modern' for 7-8 years, and didn't know it :) I learned that ch 2 for a turning chain, works better with my DC in all patterns. thank you (though, I don't think of myself as a 'beginner') I was curious, I like your style (I am dyslexic and youtube is the only reason I could advance, it took me years to be able to read patterns, I much prefer graphs. Now I have a few designers that I stay with because, of course, crochet patterns are not 'standardized'. The (maybe slight to others) difference between drive me up the wall

Thank you for a really informative tutorial. Relaxing to listen to, such a lovely soft voice, and good camera angles. Perhaps you could show how to make a c2c graph please, step by step? Including decrease rows. Graphs are my downfall and I’d love to make one but so far no one has made it really easy to follow, it’s decreasing in the pattern that I fall down on. So when you have the time, pretty please from across the pond (UK). xx

      @PlayHookywithMe  3 года назад

Yes I’m working on a video like this now and hope to share next week but it may not be exactly what you are looking for . I hope there will be something in it that helps though 💕 I’m not quite understanding where the decreasing is causing issues for you. Have you tried using stitchfiddle website to help format your graph? They have a free version . I’ll be talking about that in the video too . thank you for your lovely feedback, it inspires me to keep making videos 💕

I don’t have a specific video geared to it - I just share during videos . Here is an example in another video. Skip to 6:15 to see how I like to change colors . This would work for regular C2C as well. Hope this helps 💕

yes ive only discovered crochet over the last year. i made my second square and its in the most beautiful indigo yarn. im going to keep making squares until i know the pattern and then i would like to master the diagonal from corner to corner in a different colour. i think anything can be made in crochet.
