As a Panamanian I'll advise you the following for the sake of clarity...
The French started the Panama Canal. US finished it. And PER a treaty "rented" it for 100 yrs. Per a treaty.
After then, it was returned to Panama. US has no "right"to the canal.

Great video. The haters have watched your video and can't take it. They don't know anything about Panama's Relationship with the US, let alone everything that happened in the Canal Zone with segregation, pay inequalities, and more (both of my grandfathers were also silver-roll paid employees). One time I asked my son if school taught him anything about the Panama Canal and the relationship with Panama, and he said "They just taught me the US built the Panama Canal, that was it" So I had to educate him and bring him to Panama for a real history lesson.
I hope the Americans who retired in Panama get to mingle with other Panamanians, enjoy the culture, and learn from other Panamanians about everything Panama has to offer. It's time to let the wound heal up and move on. Cheers from DC.

Panama joined the Gran Colombia voluntarily at the same time Venezuela and Ecuador did. Panama did not gain independence from Colombia. It gained independence from Spain. Panama was not a state, province, department, etc of Colombia. Panama tried to separate itself from the Gran Colombia just as Venezuela and Ecuador did. But when Panama tried, Colombia having a stronger army did not let Panama "separate" from it. There were a few wars and uprisings by the Panamanians.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! 🙏 It is the part where the United States claimed it built the Canal but dismisses the efforts of workers from other nations is what gets to me.
The Canal Zone was constructed following Jim Crow policies of segregation. Privileged white U.S. citizens and their dependents were granted certain rights based on race. Black Panamanians and migrant laborers, mostly from the Caribbean, took the bulk of low-paying jobs and lived in the Canal Zone's segregated neighborhoods. I was told this by a Panamian who lives in Colon. He was not lying.
There are many truths about Panama's history that some prefer to keep hidden. However, I believe concealing the truth simply to avoid discomfort is unhealthy.
In 1977, President Jimmy Carter made the historic decision to transfer control of the Panama Canal to Panama. I deeply admire his actions. Former President Carter passed away yesterday, December 29, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100. May he rest in peace.
And, Donald Trump, WTH! His dictatorial, hegemonic, and imperialistic mentality is unsettling and untenable as I want to relocate to Panama soon.

You forgot to mention how much panama is charging the US to use the Canal. More than anyone else. 400k to 800k per ship. Considering the entire US Navy uses it besides its merchant ships.Very unfair. The US is providing the security and millions of dollars in maintenance every year for this Canal. Not to mention billions it sends in foreign aid. So if your going to make a video like this at least be truthful! The USA saved panama and because of the USA Panama has some world recognition. If it wasn't for the USA panama would still be a dumping ground for Columbia. Facts matter and you don't seem to know all the facts. Please do your homework. Stop being a USA Hater like the Democrat Party and radical leftists.

You are so wrong. The US did not build the canal out of the goodness of its heart. Teddy was high in the whole imperialism thing.
For your information, In 2023, a large Neopanamax container ship carrying 10,000 TEUs could pay around $450,000 for a single transit, while a smaller Panamax bulk carrier might pay closer to $50,000. There was another big ship that paid over a million dollars.
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) provides an online toll calculator to estimate fees based on a ship's specifications and transit details.
For container ships, fees are often based on the number of TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) being carried.
For bulk carriers and tankers, fees may depend on the volume or weight of the cargo.
Different types of ships are categorized and charged based on their primary function. Common categories include:
      Container ships
      Bulk carriers
      Passenger ships (cruise ships)
      Tankers (oil, LNG, etc.)
      General cargo ships
      Vehicle carriers (roll-on/roll-off ships)

Watch the documentary Panama Deception if you want to talk about what USA has “done” for Panama.

Like it or not. Panama is a sovereign nation that the United States has no rights to. Leave the toxic political attitude in the United States. A lot of us are leaving there to escape it.

@@CharlieBrown0507 thank you so much for sharing this! This video seems to have ruffled a lot of feathers when I just wanted to shed some light on the history of the two countries. Gone are the days of people doing their own research…. If I included EVERYTHING, I would still be making this video lol. Thank you for your other comments as well. 👊🏽🙏🏽🇵🇦

Reagan was the first one to propose this nonsense!
We haven't heard about it since as far as I recall.

Edit: My grandpa was the ambassador of Panama at the US and i got all the letters they sent eachother and it truly warms my heart. Fly high Bebello❤️.
