    The rail Adventure company is German. They purchased these units for use all over Europe. Normally they are based in Munich. This particular train strated at the Stadler works in Altenrhein (Switzerland) and came through the Channel Tunnel.

    The 'new' units being moved have their brakes disabled because there on-board systems are disabled (no power) To compensate the weighted flat cars and the Hblis coupling vans are used to provide train brakes. The hose through the unit window is the front to back train air brake hose passing through but not connected the new units. Most European RA trains have front/back locos for reversing moves so train or loco turning is not required.

    I grew up in the 60s when a Black Five would be pulling new diesel units. These private railway company names are really silly.

    The 43 power units look exceptionally good, but those new Merseyrail units must be the ugliest that have ever run along Britain's railways.

  • @SportyMabamba

    It sounds like the rear pair of power cars were also running.. does anyone know if the brakes are through-piped or are the rear pair just on there to simplify reversing moves?
    Edit: ah at 02:05 we see a (brake?) pipe from the barrier vehicle going in through the cab window on the 777 unit. I think i’ve answered my own question 😁

    i only know them by one name. the hs intercity125 or 4s not sure which one is right but anyhow its the first time i have seen them being used as freight locos. how odd they look without there accompanying carriages.

    Warning! If you buy the Hornby model of the RA HST there are no cab end couplings. So you cannot (without modification run the locomotives back to back to train as shown in the video.

    Interesting use of Class 43 power cars as a twin-unit locomotive. I have seen pictures of this before, but it seems more frequent now. Would they be allowed to pass through the Channel Tunnel under diesel power?

    • @EdgyNumber1
      @EdgyNumber1 Год назад

      @@Keithbarber Most likely they'd be emptied of diesel and through using one of the Le Shuttle units or whatever they'd use to rescue them. I'm speculating of course but that would seem logical.

  • @kevanhubbard9673
    @kevanhubbard9673 Год назад

    Seems rather overpowered with 4 locomotives assuming all 4 are powered up?I suppose that you couldn't have just two class 43's at each end as there's no way to link the locomotives although one should be ample to pull something like that.

      These sort of consists demand the braking effort delivered at the rail head and those ballast wagons each side full of concrete also demand effort to balance the the pulling and stopping power .
