even live they had extra people playing percussion instruments to make them sound as close to studio recording as possible. talented bunch of lads as well as the people that backed them up to make the sound bigger
This was 83-84, peak MTV. Watchable video was SO important. This song hit the synth-pop vibe that was dominant at the time. Very popular in US and Canada.
To explain the request reason- I’m a girl who grew up with Duran Duran posters instead of wallpaper in her room 😂 Head over heels for John Taylor ❤️ This song was about an underground movement and revolution. You were right about the new start. Glad you liked it a bit!
Yes!! Who was your favorite because my favorite was John Taylor because he could sing and he was awesome on the base and he was good-looking as well. The older they've gotten their drummer doesn't look like he's aged it all and he's a very handsome man Roger Taylor. it was funny how they had three Taylors in that band and none of them were related
Montre' Louise Bohon-Harris DefinitelyJohn! I was in love in love with him and had an impression he is looking back at me from the posters 😂 Simon is also handsome! Yes the 3 Taylors- John, Roger, Andy if anybody doesn’t know. 😊
My mom was a Duranie back in the 80s...one of the biggest 😂. She saw them many times live, was in one of their videos, and she still has boxes and boxes of Duran Duran memorabilia. I know almost all of their songs pretty much through the process of osmosis. I kind of wish I was around to enjoy the 80s. I would be surprised if you haven't heard their biggest hits before HAP3SPEAKZ, like Hungry Like the Wolf or Rio.
I've been a Duranie since the early 80s (now in my 40s). This video is about a revolution. Fighting back against an oppressive regime. Nothing to do with time travel or history. There's actually 3 cuts of the video: this one, one that went on their video EP "Dancing on the Valentine" that has some different scenes, and a 17 minute mini "movie" that gives a bit more backstory on what's going on (they were basically trying to make their own "Thriller" and... acting isn't too great but amusing to watch).
Duran Duran has a lot of groovy songs. John Taylor (the bassist) was influenced by funk and bands like Chic. You should react to Rio, that's an awesome tune with a sick bassline!! 💗
You'll appreciate this; I watched Live Aid LIVE on the WEST COAST even to see Duran Duran because I was a HUGE Duranie (yes, in 4th grade) but I ended up becoming a Queen fan after their performance. Wasn't planning on watching the Queen performance. Proves how an unexpected performance can make a fan. As for Duran Duran - their catalog is ALL OVER the place and they've been around FOREVER - their videos were epic. I recommend: Rio, The Reflex,View to a Kill (yes, theme to Bond Movie) Notorious, Ordinary World, Come Undone for a good spread. The members change over time; in and out. But it's always Simon & Nick. Found you through PTX reactions but like your personality so checkin' out other stuff!
YESSSSS!!!! They performed at night and I thought they were absolutely fantastic and didn't get enough credit for their awesome performance at Live Aid. They were not as good as clean but they were every bit as good as U2. I like Duran Duran a lot better than U2 anyway, but overall Duran Duran had a better performance and it wasn't because of their light show either. I remember them doing Reflex at Live Aid and they did a couple other songs. I think the reflex was the first one they did. I'm trying to get him to do a reaction to that Live Aid performance with the render and doing Reflex at Live Aid..💞💞
You were in 4th grade???? I was 16 years old at that time and that's amazing how you being so young made you fall in love with two bands that day ( especially QUEEN b/c they were in their 40s by then almost. John was 34 & Fred 38) . I was lucky that day and had the day off from work and I was watching Live Aid all day and all night.
Ordinary World is a very beautiful song!! They've gotten back together and Simon Nick Jon Taylor and Roger Taylor ( lol Duran Duran drummer). Have done some work together but their guitar player Andy Taylor either went solo in the early 90s or he went to play with another band. I think he went solo but I haven't heard anything from him. Personally they should just find another good guitar player and go back to riding and doing an album because three of them are still very very passionate about music and their drummer Works along with them whenever he's able.
@@montrelouisebohon-harris7023 AWESOME! Reflex is one of my fave Duran Duran songs. It's funny because I have a CLEAR memory of the Queen performance but the only memory I have of the Duran Duran set was Simon's voice cracking horrifically. I remember it made me physically cringe like nails on chalkboard. I sat in front of the TV, with my cassette recorder at the ready waiting for their performance so I could put the recorder to the TV Speaker to record the sound....it was even before VHS was a thing. If you didn't see it when it happened, you were S**T outta luck....no internet, no DVD, no VHS so I'm glad that we can now see them again! Ahhhh technology! :-)
I remember that back in the eighties people used to talk about the new vid that X group or singer just released the day after it was shown for the first time on TV.
They werent back in history, the clothes stay modern. They are referencing east germany and other plces under soviet control at the time, referencing scenes of the needed revolutions. It a The fall of the soviets, at least in Germany, ended up being less fiery and bloody than we all expected when this was made.
Thank you for reacting to DD, first song i ever heard with them was wild boys, Good song, they also did the music for James Bond A wiew to a kill 👍they are still active 2 day 👍
Heard of the band but never really listened to them, the beginning reminded me of the movie caberet, with Joel Gray the master of ceremonys introducing the show, then when they started singing thought it was David Bowie, lol, when it got to refrain new moon on monday, then i remembered song but only from chorus,I think you are right, travel thru time, but I will look at comments later to see what people say, great reaction as always, thought I would try something new to me,lol
RIO you have got to do a reaction to that song and video by Duran Duran !!! HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, REFLEX, ORDINARY WORLD ( ballad).. VIEW TO A KILL ( James Bond soundtrack from 1985 or 1986) . Good grief they were fantastic and my second favorite British band and the 80s from Great Britain. I went to one of their concerts in Virginia USA February 1984 and I had this rock and roll boyfriend at the time. he didn't really care for Duran Duran because he was more into the police and Van Halen. My bf then was a superb drummer and I mean the guy was so good he should have gone pro and got with a band. the thing is the next month Duran Duran came to our city and my then bought tickets to go. he did that for me, but h SHOCKED ME after the concert was over because he said that "Duran Duran put on a better concert than Van Halen!!!" WHAT?? i love you for doing this reaction !!! Duran Duran put on a fabulous show at Live Aid. personally I don't think they got the credit they deserved because their show was phenomenal. okay Queen blew everyone away! the bass player John Taylor and the keyboard player Nick Rhodes grew up together and they started the band. they got a tip from someone because they needed a good lead singer, and that's how they picked up Simon LeBon. at the end of the video the three guys on the left are totally committed to this band!! the drummer comes in whenever they call him up to play.
The video is what it is however the music is great. Great chorus yeah New moon on Monday yeah that's catchy and mysterious. Few bands had this chemistry and looks. I enjoy them more now than back then . The bass parts are insane.
Still love this song after all these years. 80s videos were so off-the-chain crazy. Makes absolutely no sense. The french in the beginning... French was not his first language (from what I can tell.

No problem. Thanks for putting this out there for me 🙂👍🏽I like the transitions but found everything really interesting. 2nd time listen I was almost able to sing along. As it has a catchy chorus. A lot of sounds in play on this track actually. 🎵

Great and thanks for your comment. A View To Kill is one of my fav bond songs actually. Yes a live performance can change anyone's mind. Queen and LIVE AID changed the world and also how they were perceived by the critics who failed to understand how incredible their music really was. Also I got a PTX reaction to come soon. 👍🏽🙂

Thanks for your comment. Yes, the video itself seems to capture time travel. Yet we also have a satellite dish in the sky beaming out signals. Kind of a trip but great catchy chorus. 👍🏽

David Bowie is actually one of their influences. They even opened for Bowie on a leg of his Glass Spider tour in 1987.
@@AJ17_ Thanks for letting me know!!!! Thats awesome
Russel Mulcahy directed this set of videos. He’s the same guy who directed Highlander.
Video was filmed in a small village called Noyers in France.
