My dad owned several Broncos when I was a kid and he always hated that the Explorer killed off the Bronco. Years later we both have 2nd gen Explorers as spare vehicles, a 96 and 2000. They just don't stop running. Both of them have been lifted slightly with TT, extended shackles and AAL in the rear. They make great winter time, hunting, camping vehicles and are still really comfortable on the road. My dad finally admits they were pretty great vehicles.

My father leased a 95 with the Eddie Bauer trim. The entire interior-dash, seats, console, doors, etc-were all green.

My older brother sold me his 96 Ford 2 door sport model ! Having that in my Arsenal, was the best vehicle I ever added . I live up on the too of a mountain. When the snow hits! I see 3 Toyota Tacoma’s parked down below. Cuz they were not, able to make it up to the top! My 96 Explorer eats up the snow. And I have never been stuck or has my vehicle ever broken down . I can say the 2 door sport model is super fun to drive. My brother has been looking for the last 2 years. To buy another 96- - 2 door Ford Explorer. He has missed his Explorer that much , his prayer was answered . 2 years had went by and he finally found 1 at a auto lot in Washington . We drove up and he bought it. Now we both have 96- Explorer/2 door sport models . Same color as well. His he calls it the white shadow . And mine is called the white knight! Like I said , they r super fun to drive.

Most of the 2 door Sport models had a factory limited slip rear. They were great in the snow. I used to have a 91 with a Duff 2.5" lift and 31s. It was great off road. Gave it to my MIL and it became her central Montana winter vehicle. She sold it some time back and still sees the guy driving it around town from time to time. At the time I gave it to her it had 290,000 miles on it and still ran great.

I suggest playing the video at 1.25x playback speed the normal playback speed is a bit weird

My parents almost bought one new in '95, but the lease rate on a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ was cheaper, and we ended up getting more features for the money. One thing I don't like about the automatic climate control is that it's fully automatic, and there's NO manual override like most automatic systems. I don't use automatic mode in my vehicles, and not being able to override it would be irritating.

Not to start an argument beamer man but I had my 96 explorer almost new for 5 years and never had a problem. Traded it for a BMW 3 series and then had to trade for a 5 series because they were both pieces of unreliable junk. 😎
