But I just don't know...
Back in 2002, the band I was in at the time was on tour in California and we ended up opening for this unknown band in Anaheim called Maroon 5. A girl I had an online (not romantic) relationship was there and we decided before the show to hang out afterwards. After the show, were sitting there talking about what we were gonna do and Adam and Jesse (the keyboard player, at least at the time) came over and started chatting us up. After a few minutes, Jesse says to the girl "I swear to god you look familiar to me. Why don't we get dinner and talk about where we could have met" and without saying a word to me, she takes his hand and walks off never to be seen again. It took me a longer time than I'm willing to admit to get over that shit.
That’s what makes Nickelback all the more frustrating: they are a group that is perfectly capable of producing genuinely good music only to eschew it for radio algorithm rock.
Comparing Danzig to Tommy Wiseau is even more accurate than you might think. Check out his directorial debut, Verotika. One of the most laughably horrible movies you could ever see. Even funnier that it was intended to be 100% serious.
The first Maroon 5 album, Songs About Jane, is actually fantastic. You have to buy into the almost comical levels of horny it has going on, but it's a great record. Actually sounds like a band and not just Adam Levine seeing how irritating he can make his vocals sound.

Man I love Danzig. Some albums not so great, but some kick ass albums too. I dig the Elvis thing too. John Christ and Chuck Biscuits, produced by Rick Rubin, come on now! Good stuff!
Danzig Mother is my goto war song. When I was going to Iraq, I listened to it on repeat. Then before going on patrol, I would listen to the song to get my head space in the fight and would put it on in the HMMWV or MRAP when we could.
Thanks Finn, I never realized wearing my day job shoes made me so much more metal. I'll head into the pizza place tomorrow with a whole new outlook on life.
And the only reason you glanced at Danzig while washing your hands is because he was the guy going, "AaAaHuUhhhaAaaauuuhhh..." to let everybody know how much he was peeing.
I’m sorry but Day of the Dead goes hard af, especially at their concerts. I know Hollywood Undead isn’t considered high class music but they make fun songs.
I met Paul Wall back in 2014 at a liquor store while he was out promoting his at the time new Vodka brand. He was sweet as could be. My best friend and I were fairly new to sobriety and lived in a sober house together, so when they offered us shots to try the vodka we explained why we couldn't and he sounded so genuinely happy for us and gave us a ton of props for the dedication. That's still one of my favorite early sobriety moments cause it was one of those perfect examples of the random ass situations we'd find ourselves in. And god lord that Crazytown song awoke forgotten middle school memories. I'm starting to think we may have taken Crazytown for granted back then. I might have to go back and listen to that album again to see if it was as bad as I recall it being.
Sfu could be a fine death n Roll band if it weren't for the character of Chris Barnes tbh and calling sfu bad in general is pretty mean to the other people that currently decided to work with Barnes
I still stand up for their third album, too. The next one was their big sellout album but honestly a good chunk of it is pretty good pop. They've been hit or miss (more often miss) since then, though.
Agreed. They sounded like a band until Moves Like Jagger. Then they slowly devolved into a rotting corpse of hollow pop music created solely for radioplay where Levine’s singing and songwriting got progressively worse and everyone forgot about the other members.
I'd probably pick Mother as Danzig's best song. And Maroon 5's entire first album is great. Definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't before. Also, it was funny seeing someone getting confused about the year This Love was released. How many people from the younger generation mistakenly think an older song came out in '09 because that was the upload date for RUclips.
It's really odd for you to single out any song by Nickelback. It basically isn't possible to like any slow song by Nickelback without liking all other slow songs by Nickelback unless you have a problem with the lyrics.
If you're a musician, and appreciate good music, the first 2 Danzig albums are genuinely great Blues infused Rock and Roll albums. They have nothing to do with the weird goth metal stuff Danzig eventually turned into.
Finn, your schedule works fine for me as well. I'm coming home from work in the afternoon and here comes your new video. Thank you for another entertaining video!
The only reason I could explain fingerless gloves is the same way I'll wear a jacket vest to work outside in the winter. Too big of jackets restricts your arms but a vest keeps your core warm and arms mobile
Songs About Jane is an album I look back on fondly... cuz you feel Maroon 5 could be something again if they ever decide to be a band. Personal faves from that are "Harder to Breathe" and "Sunday Morning". I'd even add when they were the earlier version, Kara's Flowers.
Danzig live is horrible, check out the half live EP Thrall-Demonsweatlive for proof. Danzig albums 1-4 are amazing. I’m no spring chickens anymore, but I am a few years younger than Finn, so hearing him say Danzig sucks while praising mumble rap and Charli XCX is embarrassing
"This Love" was actually my favorite pop rock song for a while, and I'll still stand by my word that it's a good song. I know most of Maroon 5's discography kind of sucks, but they have just enough bangers to where I can't bring myself to hate them. I laughed out loud when you brought out Nickelback's "Rockstar". Isn't that song the very reason why people love to dunk on Nickelback? I will agree that they've got a few good hits, but that song is just hilariously ridiculous to me.
Nickelback definitely has good songs, and I don't think Rockstar is one of them lol. And I'm far from being a fan, but some of their earlier stuff is legit good. A lot heavier and more raw than all the crap they are more well known for. As for This Love, I'm with you, it's definitely a good song. That and Harder to Breathe are both awesome. I hate almost everything Maroon 5 has done for a decade or so now, but they have the POTENTIAL to be a great rock band, which is probably what infuriates me most lol. They could honestly be a hell of a rock band, but instead, they crank out safe, poppy junk because that's what the radio wants these days (unfortunately).
For Maroon 5, I was more partial to Harder to Breathe from that same album. I always told people that it was a good Alt Rock album disguised as Pop. I actually saw Hollywood Undead live with Stone Sour and Avenged Sevenfold. Not too big on their music, but jeez they have the energy to perform live. Easily the most energetic part of the show, and one of the most energetic acts I've seen live.
The only song I know by Danzig is "Mother" I discovered it from Guitar Hero II and I honestly think it's a pretty good tune! So...I guess that makes 2 good songs! Btw I actually know a guy with a Hollywood Undead tattoo....yes he's a stoner lol
OMG Finn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The commentary on Danzig had me crying I was laughing so hard !! “He’s like the guy that gets in your face at Buffalo Wild Wings”... 😂😂 I couldn’t stop laughing - almost peed myself (TMI but sorry-true story!) I laughed so hard when you made the comment about people with Hollywood Undead tattoos, because I myself have a Hollywood Undead tattoo. You're awesome bro.
Hollywood undead post Deuce is probably their best work. They are the one of the only band left that stays true to what they want and what they are. Probably the second best band live after TooL

Hollywood Undead is a really weird band for me. A lot of their songs i would consider damn near masterpieces. But there’s an equal number of songs that i would consider hot garbage 😂
I saw Danzig live in 1992 and it was the best show I have ever been to. The original line-up of the band was insanely good live. Once Christ, Eerie and Chuck all left it went downhill. I saw the band live about ten years later and it was pretty awful; his voice was gone and the rest of the band weren't tight at all.
I agree - the "classic" lineup was great. It always was campy as fuck, but back then Glen was able to write really good songs - the first three albums are full of them. I still think it is really good music if you don't treat it to seriously (but this applies to most heavy metal bands tbh).

But only the demos/Swan Songs for me
@@theacademyisntt some songs with Danny (the new vocalist) are great.. I mostly dont care about their "serious" stuff, but their party songs are top tier..
BTW by demos you include that one song with Jeffrey Star?
they just make fun songs for the most part, I respect it
@@theacademyisntt ehh Swan Songs has some really corny lyrics on it. I thought Notes From The Underground, for instance, was stronger. Same with New Empire Vol 1 minus a song or two.
I.... Didn't know anybody could hate Hollywood Undead.... I know and love every one of their songs. And so does most the people I know. Kinda, thought everybody who listened to them fell in love with them. Kinda just flipped my world upside down.
Aww man I love Hollywood Undead lol valid points though
Man I love Danzig. Some albums not so great, but some kick ass albums too. I dig the Elvis thing too. John Christ and Chuck Biscuits, produced by Rick Rubin, come on now! Good stuff!
Lucifuge is a masterpiece.
“I need a new job” 😂😂
I feel dirty thinking those drums in that nickelback song do sound good.
When Rockstar was released I never felt so isolated. Everyone loved the song and I hated it so much
Something about, “Adam Levine & The Maroon 5” made me scream in laughter.
Danzig Mother is my goto war song. When I was going to Iraq, I listened to it on repeat. Then before going on patrol, I would listen to the song to get my head space in the fight and would put it on in the HMMWV or MRAP when we could.
Oh and that is the only song I like by them, and more because now it’s tied to a formative experience in my life
Finn McKenty >> Punk Rock MBA
All hidden gems
🙏🏼
Thanks Finn, I never realized wearing my day job shoes made me so much more metal. I'll head into the pizza place tomorrow with a whole new outlook on life.
And the only reason you glanced at Danzig while washing your hands is because he was the guy going, "AaAaHuUhhhaAaaauuuhhh..." to let everybody know how much he was peeing.
I’m sorry but Day of the Dead goes hard af, especially at their concerts. I know Hollywood Undead isn’t considered high class music but they make fun songs.
Harder to breathe is a legit good song from maroon 5
Six Feet Under - The Day The Dead Walked was a pretty cool tune imo.. especially when the Smegol from LOTR vocals kick in during the second verse
Sfu could be a fine death n Roll band if it weren't for the character of Chris Barnes tbh and calling sfu bad in general is pretty mean to the other people that currently decided to work with Barnes
The groove to Starry Eyed Surprise is infectious. It’s one of my summer jams
Finn, do you have a playlist for this series on Spotify?
I do not
Say what you want about maroon 5 but those first two albums are top tier pop rock and every album they drop after that has at least a couple bangers
Yo factssss. 🎶it’s not over tonight, give me one more chance to make things right🎶
Move Like Jagger is still one of the very worst things I have ever heard though.
But I'll give them props for She Will Be Loved and that Payphone one.
Finn: *mentions six feet under*
Me: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I'd probably pick Mother as Danzig's best song. And Maroon 5's entire first album is great. Definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't before.
Also, it was funny seeing someone getting confused about the year This Love was released. How many people from the younger generation mistakenly think an older song came out in '09 because that was the upload date for RUclips.
I think that's a really overrated Danzig song. My favorite is probably 777.
@@xenos_n. Out of the "hits" I would definitely go for "How The Gods Kill".
@@PikkaBird pretty sure Danzig only had one hit. That is a great song though
Twist of cain
It's really odd for you to single out any song by Nickelback. It basically isn't possible to like any slow song by Nickelback without liking all other slow songs by Nickelback unless you have a problem with the lyrics.
I have no idea who you are but Danzig II is one of the best albums ever made.
"Never Again" is a solid song from Nickelback, but the only one I like personally
That was the song I heard after how you remind me and thought this band is pretty good... Then I checked out more of their stuff. Oh well, not for me
Fuck man I almost spit my drink out when you said the part about smelling Shifty’s finger 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
If you're a musician, and appreciate good music, the first 2 Danzig albums are genuinely great Blues infused Rock and Roll albums. They have nothing to do with the weird goth metal stuff Danzig eventually turned into.
100%. Those 2 albums are bangers. 777 is great.
Agree!!
Crazy Town is one of my guilty pleasures. I even gotta credit them for getting me into heavier music
I know, Danzig can be cringe but Lucifuge is an excellent, banging album.
I love this new “I’d smell their fingers” lane! Truly unprecedented
🤮
That said I would def watch that series.
your videos helped me through some rough times man, wish you could come back selfishly
Gotta appreciate the upload schedule I love watching these in the morning and when I get up early I am waiting for the drop around 10 EST ahaha
Finn McKenty needs a friend (parkway drive, Paul wall, Adam Levine)

Songs About Jane is an album I look back on fondly... cuz you feel Maroon 5 could be something again if they ever decide to be a band. Personal faves from that are "Harder to Breathe" and "Sunday Morning". I'd even add when they were the earlier version, Kara's Flowers.
Harder to Breathe drips sexiness so hard. A legion of today’s high school seniors were conceived to that song.
I like "mother" by Danzig but I've never listened to anything else by him... Glad I didn't.
OMG Finn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The commentary on Danzig had me crying I was laughing so hard !! “He’s like the guy that gets in your face at Buffalo Wild Wings”... 😂😂
I couldn’t stop laughing - almost peed myself (TMI but sorry-true story!) I’m still laughing as I write this comment ... “the satanic desert” ... I’m dead 😂
Ok so Finn put a ❤️ on my comment and now it’s not there 😢
I was so excited to see he actually reads the comments and replies! Finn you made my day! I haven’t laughed this hard in a while - been a stressful few months. PLEASE keep these videos coming !
As soon as the mouse hovered over Shifty’s index finger I lost it 😂
Idk man first 3 Danzig albums are solid especially How the Gods Kill
Five
Loved seeing Grady Smith do this for country and equally loved seeing your list!!
I personally love Hollywood undead and unpopular opinion, but I think their newer stuff is 10 times better (specifically album V)
I love Hollywood Undead,but V is where I kinda dropped off… I didn’t like Psalms or Empire V1-2.
But I love Wild in These Streets and City if the Dead,I hope the new album goes back to their roots a little
I laughed so hard when you made the comment about people with Hollywood Undead tattoos, because I myself have a Hollywood Undead tattoo. You're awesome bro.
I lost it @3:11 “What’s a Danzig?” 😂
The ugly friend part killed me you should do stand-up my man🤣🤣🤣🤣✌
I love Danzig 😭, not all their songs are great, but there’s wayyy more than dirty black summer
Not even close to his best song.
Finn is actually a huge Danzig fan. He just doesn't want to admit it. You can tell by his body language trust me. Lol
I love "Going Down To Die" by Danzig
Hollywood undead post Deuce is probably their best work. They are the one of the only band left that stays true to what they want and what they are. Probably the second best band live after TooL
idc how bad of a band hollywood undead is i will forever enjoy their music lmao its just enjoyable despite it being bad
I love HU and will say they’re a good band. Their new singles have been banging. Gotta love bumping some HU on my speaker
@@jackabel6113 they became a hyperfixation of mine a long time ago because of my adhd i still enjoy going back and listening to swan songs such a good album
I remember seeing Crazytown live in 2000, the funny thing is the chick that's in the Electric Callboy Hypa Hypa video reminded me of the cover art from Crazytowns Gift of Game album.
Your shifty shellshock finger “section” or whatever you wanna call it is so great. Literally couldn’t stop laughing. And I gotta say I keep coming back to it to get a laugh. I wasn’t expecting that at all in this video haha but yes that’s a top tier target song and I love it
Nickelback- Rockstar is a really catchy song and Faith from Buffy is in the video and I love her
Literally nothing wrong with Danzig. Funny how you use a music VIDEO to discredit their music. Yet another take of flaming hot shit
Tommy Wiseau comment was funny as tho
Danzig is fucking awesome.
Hollywood Undead is a really weird band for me. A lot of their songs i would consider damn near masterpieces. But there’s an equal number of songs that i would consider hot garbage 😂
I have to agree. They've got some fun upbeat songs and some really great songs about serious subjects. Then some of it is just bad.
Finn saying that joke about Danzig on the rock had me in tears
Id argue Danzig - Mother should be on the list. Dont care for many Danzig songs, but that song still holds up today for me.
Thought the same thing. I guess I like two songs by them. Bad band, but you gotta admit Dirty Black Summer and Mother are two phenomenal songs.
"charlie puth was masterbaiting to this? Tell me more" I haven't laughed that hard in a long time 11:39
I saw Danzig live in 1992 and it was the best show I have ever been to.
Hot take- there's some songs w Michael Graves that blow Danzig misfits songs away....
